    Learning lesson for his coach too. They didn’t think of the time for tissue adaptation to imposed demands. They were progressing too quickly and Hafthors neural drive allowed him to perform incredible strength feats, versus the typical aches and pains of his body being the limiting factor.

    I don't feel any satisfaction that I was in the small minority sceptical of Hafthor goals. What is happening now is kind of 'base scenario' to me. Hafthor is attempting something unheard of before; I don't think there was an elite strength athlete before who 'retired' for 2 years, dropped 1/4 of his bodyweigth, and attempted to come back and beat some more records. His goals were super ambitious (not a 'walk in the park' as many of his fans assumed) and now his journey will be even more fascinating to watch.

    He'll never bench the same again. He won't break any records this year.

  • @srbtlevse16
    @srbtlevse16 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is why I think the rules for bench should be relaxed more. Powerlifting is all about explosivity and strength, something that a meet level bench press doesn't really reflect honestly compared to a squat or deadlift. Going so slowly on the way down, pausing there for so long, puts so much unnecessary pressure. A faster bench that, I'd go as far as to say, even uses elastic force from a small bounce seems way more natural to me and takes advantes of all of the body's mechanisms in that area. And it would honestly make it more interesting to watch which can bring in more attention and viewership for the sport.

    • @maciejguzek3442
      @maciejguzek3442 ปีที่แล้ว

      would make zero difference IMO. Weights would be obviously automatically bigger if no pause required and bounce allowed. It's just the type of injuries would probably be somewhat different. But there is nothing dangerous inherently about the obligation to perform the move in controlled paused manner. It's other factors that play a huge part in getting injured and we all know what these 'factors' are.

  • @ivan37274

    Weird injury! Same form as previous attempts. Looked good going into attempt 3 and boom life comes at you fast. The only explanation could be he’s doing everything too quickly and not allowing his tendons to get used to the weight. Cycling and gaining weight very quickly and continuing to increase the weight at such a rapid tempo like he is still in his 2018 prime. I think when he comes back he should not think about competing straight away but more so just practicing the big 3, increase the weight and his body weight slower.
