As an almost 80 year old, throughout my life I've come across many examples of legacy manufacturers spreading FUD, lies and political pressure to hold back a company with a better product just so they can maintain their market share.
I suspect the same thing is going on regarding Tesla, after all legacy manufacturers, advertising and having the gall to produce a car it requires a little or no maintenance and last many times longer.

Do you remember Tucker, or was that before you were in kindergarden? There's a movie by that title that I recommend (free on Amazon).

I remember the Tucker automobile well and I'm surprised how few people realize what happened and how they use politics to stop Tucker because they knew and feared what it would do to their business model.

6: Customer Service: you can wait a long, long time for an oil change at the Tesla Service Center. .... LOL.... Since the Alabama legislature depends on funds from the good old boy Car Stealerships, Tesla cannot place a Showroom or Service Center in Alabama (though maybe on Indian land). Instead, a Tesla Technician came to my residence (or other convenient to me meeting place) and has at various times:
    a) replaced my passenger-accidently-damaged front passenger seat controls.
    b) adjusted my front cameras
    c) performed an unsuccessful diagnosis on a navigation problem (turned out to be a software bug, fixed on the next upgrade)
    d) rotated my tires
With me never having to sit and wait for service.

There used to be a time when cars were built to last.
Now every part has a designed lifetime and this has become their number one source of income.
One example, a few decades ago a Ford engineer used to go scuba diving with me every year and after the dive we used to serve free rum and coke, there's an old saying in vino veritas, (and why there's truth).
After a few drinks to Ford engineer tells a story that when he first started they would have meetings with the new engineers and they were told every part had a certain design life.
An engineer piped up and said, what if we could design it at a lower cost to last longer?
The answer to this question was "don't do that that's how we make our money".

      @bspencersf 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

I heard that Henry Ford used to go to the junkyard, look at the model Ts , find parts that still had a lot of life on them and decide that they were over engineered and could be made less durable, why have the starter motor last longer than the engine? Do that to enough parts and pretty soon the whole thing will deteriorate sooner

26:27 Phantom braking still happens, I've had a little of it recently, but it isn't bad and if you are properly supervising the car, it is a small thing to apply a little pressure to the "go pedal". In my own experience, I've usually thought the slowdown was more sudden and extreme than it actually was. I've also sometimes found, on review of video, a reason for the braking that I had not noticed during the drive. Most often it is an oncoming vehicle encroaching a smidgeon into my lane, this being Alabama, oncoming pickup trucks with their tires on the lane separator stripe (or a little over it) are just part of the Dixie road ambience than a threat.

I feel kind of bad for Fred Lambert and others like him… What happened to make him so negative towards Elon?
I guess there’s something wrong with me but I just don’t really understand why people have a problem with him doing whatever he wants to do with his company…. how anybody can have a job and feel wronged when they get fired is beyond me. I get that it’s certainly an inconvenience and no fun, but were you promised a job for life when you got hired?

I’m certain the Hertz situation is 100% because their business model is really to buy cars in bulk on discount, sell cars after about a year before big maintenance expenses including tires, and get purchase price back on sale. So rental is on a free car. Tesla’s no bulk order discounts and constant sales price reductions killed that business model. It had nothing to do with operation or repair costs!

Cobalt, a material sometimes mine by young people in dangerous conditions, this is a bad thing.
However 80% of all the Cobalt mind is used in refining petroleum products and when it's finished it's all wasted nothing to recycle it's gone.
EV batteries canby recycles add an eventually if Cobalt is still used it will hit a point where there's enough recycled to take care of new batteries.
And then there's the fact that many new battery technologies do not use Cobalt.

#3 Range issues? there are no stinking range issues. Perl (2023 MY LR AWD) took me out to San Diego and back to Alabama back in February (4000 mi round trip (with Autopilot+TACC) + lots of local miles in CA and Tucson). Perl also to me to see the Eclipse ( FSD 12.3.2.1 ) which totalled about 1167 miles. Perl will be taking me up to Muskegon, MI for the Tesla Owners get together up there in June, that will be about 1600 mi round trip. A good 60 or 70% charge on the battery lasts longer than I can comfortably go between pee breaks, so any range anxiety I have has more to do with my bladder than Perl's battery.

If a driver r makes a mistake and someone ends up dead, the insurance company works out compensation and settles.
If a self-driving car which is many times safer can a human driver, Heather glitch in someone ends up dead, why did they sue for compensation vastly greater than if a human makes a mistake the kill someone?

I really hope this is not happen to Tesla if Elon is pushed out.
The MBA (Master of Business Administration) problem.
Many manufacturing and high-tech companies, were started by engineers and scientists, and had a tradition of top management being people taken from the engineering and science community, thus having the advantage that they knew everything from the engineering, the science &:the nuts and bolts right up to production.
In recent decades many top management positions, I've been taking over by MBA's, whose main approach is to look at the bottom line of finance and quarterly profits, yet have very little understanding of the underlying engineering science and production, furthermore they tend to lack a vision of the future.
And unfortunately the this lack of knowledge of the basics of an industry has had many unfortunate outcomes for businesses that were highly successful.
Examples of this approach includes Boeing, GE and HP and an automobiles, Ford GM, and Chrysler, to mention a few examples.
Interestingly Elon Musk, when he left Canada actually attended an MBA School, and to this day he will not hire an NBA, because they destroy companies for short term gain, (the obvious exception to this is accounting)1
The MBa's in their pursuit of short-term gain will continue to destroy businesses until they wake up to the damage they're doing and I suspect this will take a long long time.

Elon Musk tends to be optimistic about time to when a product becomes available and may be 1 or 2 yeagrs late.

Jeff Bezos blue origin was founded in 2000 it has been 24 years so far no launch.
