- We will welcome Vladimir Putin in South Africa. this is according to Fikile Mbalula here in interview with HardTalk's Stephen Sakur. In the interview Mbalula says that Russian President Vladimir Putin is welcomed in South Africa as a member of BRICS and that SA can never arrest a head of state.
He also stressed that Tony Blair has still not been arrested for lying about weapons of destruction in Iraq and for the millions of people who've been killed in the war in Iraq.

I personally have seen the speed at which anc have connected previously disadvantaged people, even after they build low cost homes and communities they are very speedy in connecting electricity.
People always conveniently like to gloss over anc's achievements just so that they can hammer on about its failures. Regardless of whether we like or hat the anc we should always be honest about it just like we are always honest about the failures and achievements of the apartheid regime. Heck even people who are still living in tribal huts in South African villages have electricity!
We also forget that even if theft and corruption was not a factor, Democratic South Africa still would have not had the time and budget to build plants fast enough to meet the connection rate. Building a single plant takes almost 10 years, while connecting a community takes 1-2 years. So in that 10 year period where you are still spending a trillion rand on a new single plant, you have probably connected enough new people to the grid that you actually need two new plants at the end of that 10 year period.

Am from Zambia and am of the view that Mbalule was equal to the task. When the country is developing and the demand is high for electricity, the produced capacity is outweighed by demand to be connected to the National Grid, the outcome is load shedding. the way forward is to enhance production to meet demand.
