- Russian President Vladimir Putin has begun a state visit to Vietnam by praising the country’s support of his war in Ukraine. It comes after he signed a mutual defence pact with North Korea's Kim Jong Un.
There appears to be a widening rift between the Israeli government and the military over the government's goal of defeating Hamas. Meanwhile Hezbollah warned Cyprus will become a target if it allows Israel to use its territory for war.
China has defended ramming and puncturing Filipino navy boats in the latest escalation of tensions in the disputed South China Sea. The Philippines called it an act of piracy. Beijing claims the vessels were acting illegally.
