@@simoz78they did skip that BUT have a Crystal Oscillator is legit. I hope they stop instructing users to “unplug” from a camera. This video they talk about still needing more generators so that’s good. That’s how it should of been presented.
@@simoz78your right… but that’s the fault of the device your syncing, not the Rode Wireless Pro. Doesn’t matter what you use to jam sync a device, the device is gonna drift. Still, I don’t know what all the fuss is about, if you really need 100% frame accuracy sync, your not gonna be using consumer level products. I’m sure Hollywood uses high end expensive time code generating systems to stay in absolute sync, but for us mere mortals, I don’t see the big deal about being out a frame or two with your audio in post.
@@rodemicThis video doesn’t really handle the feedback head on. The problem is the real world use of the timecode feature by plugging the RØDE wireless go into your camera every couple of hrs. That will not work. This also wont work with other timecode devices which is why they tell you that you need to keep it plugged into your camera the length of the shoot. The rode wireless go timecode allowing you to sync the transmitters to the receiver is a GAME CHANGER!! I just filmed a golf tournament with the DJI mic and I lost signal when the golfers back were turnt towards me, so being able to use timecode to sync the internal recording of the transmitter is a WIN. Being able to use this system with 3 cameras is a no go. Being able to use it as a master and jam syncing other timecode devices is a WIN.
It’s awesome you’re responding to the critiques about the timecode feature. It tells me you really care about this as a selling point instead of allowing users to potentially brush it off. One thing that would be great is if there were dedicated timecode boxes that come out in the future that’s compatible with this Wireless Pro system. That way, users could potentially replace their tentacle sync and diety boxes by having a Rode Wireless Timecode Box attached to each camera and audio device at all times while recording incredible audio within the same system. The way I understand the criticism, it isn’t about the accuracy of the Wireless Pro, but the in-accuracy of cameras that drift after a few hours (or minutes) of jam-syncing, then disconnecting any timecode box. It would be cool to come out with a smart slate as well! I pre-ordered and waiting for my set to arrive this week so I’m not complaining!
Thanks for the love @JP4. We appreciate it- really. We've recieved a few new product suggestions in the past week similar to yours, so we've passed them all onto the team.
@@rodemicif there’s a later version of the Wireless Pro with a 15hr battery life / swappable batteries and can be jam synched I will switch over my entire system. I genuinely love using Rode equipment in my line of work and wish the solution to all of my audio needs could be met by something made by Rode. I tend to cover logos on my rig but Rode is one of the exceptions as I’m so proud to show that the high quality tools I’m using are made here in Australia.
Yes, this would be a game changer as well. Imagine also being able to sync more than one system to the same timecode via the phone app? I believe others have figured this out.
I'm happy Rode finally addressed some of these questions. I'm especially glad they addressed the ability to jam the Rode system from an external TC. That really was my only sticking point with these recorders. I'm happy there were voices in the community pressing for these direct answers.
This is why Rode is among best in the Australian audio space - they’ve been doing this for decades. As opposed to DJI who are - whilst a huge brand - newcomers to audio space, with audio not even being their main focus and their products still ironing out their kinks.
I've read the comments on this post and i must say while it seems that most people will never be satisfied with the drastic improvements made. I must commend RODE for being responsive and professional despite the demeaning comments i see here. RODE just keep on improving and continue to remain professional no matter how demeaning the criticisms may be. i love you guys with my whole heart.
Rode has not been responsive to my criticisms which are simple. The microphone's sensitivity only needs 12-bits, so 32-bit float improves nothing. It's 72db SNR is in their own specification. I have no intention to demean anyone. But sorry, it angers me when people lie, like saying you don't need analog gain adjustments with 32-bit float. Internally, that is EXACTLY what they are doing.
@@MaxoticsTVwhat? Of course 32 but float is an improvement? That way we basically always have a backup recording in case something peaks. That is literally impossible to get clipping audio on? How is that not an improvement? lol
@@Northpaal I soon post another video explaining more. The short answer is nothing peaks from your (Rode's) microphone's analog input past 12-bits. But okay, let's assume it can get 24-bits of usable data. 32-bit float holds the same amount of data in nominal form. You can't understand that until you understand exactly what "float" means.
THIS! 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 Love this Rode. This makes things entirely different and ALOT more compelling. Just please don’t instruct users to unplug generators from their cameras. Other than that, wow, this is amazing! I recant all of the negative remarks I’ve made and will remove those videos.
More compelling doesn't mean, in the end, a workable solution for you or others. You weren't negative. You only called it as far as you could see it. It's no fun being critical. I know! But someone has to do it ;)
@@MaxoticsTV that’s true. I still had my concerns and without voicing them, rode wouldn’t have made changes to their pitch, wording on their site, or created these videos. Nonetheless, I can confidently recommend this for the beginner/intermediate filmmaker as a means to slowly integrate timecode into their post production.
@@JustinPorterMedia Yeah, I'm with you. I own their products and wouldn't hesitate to buy this or anything else. BUT, they're pushing bad science. Climate change to me is a real thing. If you're going to lie about what 32-bit float does, or the real world of Timecode, then how, as a society, are we supposed to deal with the science of climate change? I know I sound nuttier than before, but there you go!
It's great to see Rode stay on top of the questions asked about the Wireless Pro. I'm convinced that many content creators produce negative reviews to draw attention to their channels. Many of them don't even have the product in their hand in their reviews. Or they "heard" something from someone else and made content based on rumor. Thanks Rode for keeping us honest. We need more developers with this kind of commitment to their products. Well done.
No it’s those not raising the concern. Those of us voicing it just read the already released manual after being concerned by Rode’s descriptions in their video and saw the massive holes in their implement of basic timecode workflows. They half addressed things here but still ignored some major limitations that currently leave the system almost entirely unworkable in a timecode environment, even before we address the lack of jam syncing the Pro to other master clocks.
Where did you order from? B&H? As far as I know, their website doesn’t say when they will ship. 😢 Here in Japan, the official distributor simply says they are preparing for arrival of Wireless Pro. 😢
It's great to hear that the word used in this video, "yet" means near-future compatibility to receive timecodes from other devices. This will make a huge difference and will let me have the additional option to buy multiple mic kits and have them all in sync as well. .
Agreed. That was the bigger issue for me. If I need to use two of these systems, there is currently no way to sync them together. According to @rode, you can use the app to get them close, but will still have to nudge a bit in post.
Great work RODE!! We’ve been missing something like this for far too long! When we are able to sync a 2nd set as a slave, we’ll look to pick up a couple of sets. 👍
You can already use other brands timecode devices, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did bring out their own at some point. Right now their focus is really on the audio side, I am sure the timecode part will be expanded in due course. 😊
@@philipbloom Yeah I know, but convenience is important for the market this is aimed at. I personally wouldn't bother buying a whole other set of TC devices to sync up multiple devices. If I had a shoot where it was that important, I'd hire someone to do sound instead.
Phew, that is great that means now I can make my journey to the middle of the Earth through the volcano, knowing I will have accurate time code. Thank you
@rodemic thank you for stepping up and making a true video addressing the concerns many of us voiced, understanding that us professionals users who use timecode have some serious concerns about how it’s been both marketed and implemented based on what you’ve released (this includes fully reading your manuals). Please understand though that we need far more information on the “yet” comment. We NEED the ability to feed LTC into the Rode Wireless Pro especially so we can quickly re-jam to new frame rates in the field for documentary work. This functionality is a must for any professional timecode system. Additionally we need you to address how we are supposed to use two Pro systems simultaneously on the same set. Finally we still need you guys to address the lack of full time LTC output in addition to full dual channel audio output.
😂 you do realize it’s $399 for the entire kit, right? You are asking for professional features in a consumer product. If it doesn’t meet your needs, move along please…
@@RandumbTech first off, grow-up. They set the price and these are no longer a consumer product, these are in the prosumer to professional sphere. They also set the price and are trying to market it having true professional timecode. The professional market for a run-and-gun documentary lav set (not a sound tech’s) is the $400-$1500 market. The price point for a professional timecode box (including for sound techs) is $150-$600. They are playing in the game and trying to undercut their competition, Deity, on this product. They need to get it right or not claim it has professional timecode. Also why would you think a half baked product is acceptable for a consumer anyways?!
I’ll bet money that the inability to jam timecode into the system ‘yet’ is due to language in the Zaxcom patent. Deity have a similar issue with their upcoming Theos line.
@@justinharrison225 possibly, but that only limits them in the US market. The Theos will have all the features for the rest of us around the world and Rode, an Austrian company where the Zaxcom patent also isn’t recognized, should definitely follow suite if that’s the reason.
This is amazing!! In the future, I hope there's a way where we can just buy independent transmitters and feed them to an existing wireless pro receiver. It might be too much to handle by a small receiver but I hope it can handle at least 4 transmitters. :) Well done Rode!!!!
Now it’s almost a year later, is there any updates to the jam issue? Still a “yet” or has there been any progress towards a “soon”? I’m so ready to use a second set of Wireless Pro but as long as they can’t jam with each other that’s not an option.
We don't have an ETA or any update on the implementation of the jamming to an external source at this stage, but I'll be sure to pass this on to our development team for their awareness! We appreciate your enthusiasm 🙌
Thank you @Røde - the Wireless Pro looks great. Question: Will you produce a USB-C to BNC cable for cameras to receive time code while recording stereo sound via the jack plug? Suggestion: Please consider also offering a (simple) time code receiver that works with the Wireless Pro that can be put on a second / third / "n"th camera so different camera angles can be synchronised as well.
We NEED a USB-C to USB power and BNC splitter cable along with a timecode mode that gives us isolated 1/2 channels (with all output options) plus full time LTC. We don’t have that right now and it is a necessary minimum feature on release if they want to market this as real timecode (just because it uses LTC doesn’t mean it’s a timecode device unless it can continuously jam in addition to its other primary function of being an audio receiver).
Huge +1 to some sort of USB to audio adapter solution (I think its just a firmware capability) so we can use that feature-rich RX audio port for something on the 99% of cameras that can't take USB audio in!
@@knuckles9045 technically USB headphones type connection should already work, it’s just that there are native cable solutions currently and there isn’t a timecode mode that doesn’t stupidly merge the channels (hell even the headphone monitoring mode merges them which is truly stupid).
Time of Day Timecode Crossing Over Midnight has an issue. I'm not sure which one is correct, but I've been testing timecode sync using the RODE Wireless Pro and three OSMO Action 4 cameras. One big difference is in how things work when you cross over midnight. The RODE receiver was set to Time of Day and I jam sync'd the cameras with it. In Davinci Resolve when I import the footage with 00:00:00:00 as the first point in my timeline, I saw video footage there with no audio. It turns out that OSMO Action 4 wrapped the timecode at midnight to 00:00:00:00 and all footage after midnight was set with the "time of day" whereas the RODE Audio file's last segment had a start timecode of 24:01:41:23. I'm not sure which handling I prefer but I know for sure that I don't like the handling of this to be different! Does SMPTE not handle "time of day" timecode in their spec? Which one is correct? Is this a bug in the RODE timecode system? Given that, I was able to fix it, but it sure is annoying to have to fix it! And to be honest, the RODE handling is probably the best as it would put video on the timeline in the correct order. I just wonder if there's a standard that addresses this somewhere.
I think it’s shocking that RØDE are politely debunking the negative videos from people who haven’t even used the system. That’s just spoiling the fun! 😂 I guess my humour didn’t get through to some. From replies it seems people are expecting from RØDE way too much for a $399 system. To have timecode AND dual output from the receiver is a massive ask. I can’t think of a single product that does anything like this. If they will be able to add timecode output via the USB C then great BUT then you are running into power issues. With a max 7 hour of battery life that not going to last a full day shooting without topping up…how do you do that whilst using it? The USB-C port. What’s important is this slots into existing timecode systems from Tentacle and deity, that’s super important. It’s not another timecode system to buy into like the Ultrasync system from Atomos which has stopped me from using timecode alongside the others with some of my Zoom products.
Unfortunately though Philip many of us have read the full manual which has been released and it critically is missing the most basic of required feature, full time isolated audio output as expected from a wireless receiver while also outputting its LTC. It can’t do both and as you know, just occasionally jamming a camera’s internal clock isn’t a proper timecode workflow or recipe for actual accurate timecode on set.
@@philipbloom it actually supports full audio input and output over the USB-C connector and even has a bunch of dual output modes that get close but not exactly what should be the basic mode need. We obviously would want channels 1/2 isolated and with full normal controls on the TRRS connector, plus an LTC signal on either of the USB outputs. Timecode mode 5 is the closest with a merged headphone output (I has really hoped it was isolated headphone but it’s not) on the TRRS and a merged mic level signal on the left USB channel and mic level LTC on the right USB channel. It’s so close and yet so far with not one mode giving us a non-merged 1/2 audio signal in addition to the LTC signal.
@@TheTechnoPilotyou do realise this is the first firmware for it? There will be lots of big improvements within time for sure given their history. You are being too harsh mate and expecting way too much, especially at this price point. Ryan even hints at the receiver being able to accept timecode jamming in the future so who knows what else they will be able to do. I for one saw that I clearly had to make a choice when using it for timecode output or audio output. I could do both with caveats using audio timecode if needed. Please tell me if there is any wireless receiver that even gives you the option to output timecode. I see this as start of new product line from then and i am pretty sure we will see standalone timecode boxes from them to slot into the system which is of course the way I would expect any timecode system to work cameras with dedicated timecode ports. I use both the Tentacle and Deity systems and each of those individual time codes boxes will work with the RØDE system from day 1 if you are already using them. If you aren’t and can’t wait for RØDE then get the Deity ones as they are cheaper and easily accept jammed timecode without any app.
So jam from rode to diety or tentacle sync units and then place them on each camera. I assume that would work. I just tried to jam sync from one of my tentacle sync boxes to the others and it work so I assume I could go from rode to tentacle sync as well
@@flochfitness this is exactly whats intended yes. notice if you watch the video again above the questions is asked can you jam sync from other devices into the rode and he says "no, but not yet" meaning it will be a feature. so in any case the rode pro will work with all other devices like tentacle sync in my case right out of the box
@@rodemic Agreed, this is a work around. Except for some use cases. For example, this work around assumes on a given shoot the RODE Pros are needed at the beginning. What if they're not needed until say 4 hours into the shoot? Or even worse, 7 hours in? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy this works but it's not the full solution. The issue is that the RODE Rx must be on the entire time, running on battery, with a 7 hour battery life. The master clock for a shoot is supposed to run (longer than) the entire duration of the shoot....e.g. so that other cameras, etc. can be re-jam-sync'd in case they need to power off etc. This work around doesn't work for that scenario. The real solution is the implied "yet" promise @01:44 in which case the RODE Pro doesn't have to be the master clock, or be used to jam the master clock for a shoot. That promise also enables multiple RODE Pro's to be used together (e.g. the 4, 6, 8 mic scenario). I'm elated that you're going to fix that!
This release has exposed unfortunately the Chinese whisper culture of influencers. Someone read the manual, misunderstood, posted a video with inaccurate information before having ever tested it… and that misinformation spreads like wildfire.
So then don't give advice and share opinions to other people on the back of minimal information. My point is that we get theories and hypothesis dressed as reviews before most have even touched the product. @@HwayVision
@@HwayVision actually the full manual is released and unlike what the initial commenter here claims, there are serious show stopper issues with Rode’s implementation of timecode that weren’t even truly addressed in this video. While yes they highlighted some of the details included in the manual and did finally provide a little information about the fact that it has a temperature compensated crystal oscillator, they still didn’t address that external jam syncing is part of the minimum viable product when it comes to timecode and that cameras must always remain connected to remain in sync, not just jammed occasionally. Therefore the currently available timecode modes don’t provide the most important one to be usable, a separate full time LTC output separate from the TRRS jack, while the TRRS jack provides all the listed audio output options their advertise.
Hey there @antoniusvandermeijde5054! While we can confirm we're still looking into this update, we don't have a timeline to announce for it at this stage, but stay tuned to our social channels for further updates.
I think one of the big drawbacks is that I can’t jam TO the Rode Pro, (…yet?) which is super frustrating for those of us who have other timecode systems that we treat as the master I’ve owned every single iteration of the Rode Go line and Rodelink systems, have a bachelors in recording engineering and I work in film/TV/commercials every single day. (when we are not on strike, that is), it’s a major inconvenience to not be able to freely jam what you want from your CHOSEN timecode slave device, it got a lot of peoples hopes up, myself included. As far as the accuracy claims, I would love to review a unit to compare against other timecode systems on the market myself, as a professional user, to properly test out these claims on accuracy (I think it’s about time a real world user who’s supported every iteration of these, gets a review unit, not a social media influencer who will never use it after the initial review and probably turn right around and sell it)
my biggest gripe with these systems is not being able to use two devices seamlessly. when receivers are near each other the cutouts and interference are insane.
Hear hear @Zakster90, companies need to stop focusing on social media influencers as if they are the trusted voice on these matters. There are some that are decent, but some are so ignored by the professional user base I’ve seen open hostility to equipment they’ve endorsed in the professional sphere quoting its TH-camr user base as a reason to not use it on set.
Hi I can't get the receiver to jam the dedicated timecode port on my C70. I'm using a tentacle 3.5 to BNC cable and I've tried turning the gain up max as suggested, used the correct timecode setting on the Rode and set the C70 to timecode 'in', but no luck it just doesn't read it. Any suggestions?

Any updates on whether or not the Rode wireless pros can receive timecode? I liked that Rode said not “YET” but it’s been over a year and I would love to be able to jam sync my wireless pros. That would be a game changer!
YET! cool that how you address these concerns. Maybe a version stripped out no recording, no transmitting/receiving but just does time code. A "RODE WIRELESS PRO TC BOX" that can jamm synced from the master would do the work. that will address the multi cam HDSLR situations which most hdslr cant jamm in time code.
If anyone is wondering - Can you have multiple wireless pro receivers synced to a single master wireless pro? As of 29/08/23 the answer is unfortunately, no. I reached out to support via email asking this very question. At the moment the best option would be to run time of day time code, setting both wireless pros receivers up via the same device and then doing a clap sync or slate to nudge them into sync, as time of day will get them close but not perfect. Though they did mention they would pass the request along so, I'm hoping that in future perhaps the app may be able to sync up timecode on connected wireless pros or if it is indeed capable of receiving timecode, one will be able to jam the other.
Thanks Ryan- that information is all correct. We are always looking for ways to make our devices more flexible, so it's certainly something we're looking into. Devices like the Wireless PRO are the result of feedback exactly like this from the community, so we appreciate it.
Would it also be possible to run both systems with regular timecode, calculate the offset between the two systems, then either re-write the timecode in one of the systems using that offset or nudge the audio by the offset in the edit?
The answer is no- the Wireless PRO cannot accept an incoming timecode to sync to, so you can't connect them together. However, the unit's time-of-day timecode is updated when connecting the units to RØDE Central. So if you connect two WiPRO systems to the RØDE Central (desktop or phone), they won't be 100% syncronised, but they will be accurate with each other to within about a second. You'll still need to manually sync your files, but they will roughly be in the right place on your timeline.
@@rodemic Is there any plans to implement auto sync between multiple systems? Video mentioned that this system doesn't "YET" support timecode input. Similar to what you can have with Tentacle
Not having the ability to accept jam sync is a huge omission. Get that feature running ASAP. I need multiple lab mics (like 4+), so they all need to be in sync.
Is there an upgrade path from from earlier versions of the Rode Wireless microphones? I've only used my Go 2 kit a couple of times before getting frustrated with it.
When I record both transmitters via split recording and using the receiver to trigger the recording and I goto rename each files on the transmitters, it changes the name on both files instead of just one of the files. (example transmitter 1 file was 0001. and rename it to test A, transmitter 2 file which was initially 0001 will also change to test A)
This entire issue is a storm in a Tea Cup, I watched several videos from so called Influencers who clearly had no idea about Timecode. Where I feel Rode fell down was in their initial marketing and showing Jam Syncing to a Camera and then allowing the camera to take over, that was always going to fail and no one does that unless the camera in question has it own TCCO. I would love for Rode to release a dedicate time code box that can be attached to devices without an inbuilt TCCO and also to update the Firmware so the Wireless Pro can receive timecode.
Hi Rode, I think the wireless pro is a nice solution for a small crew, I would like to see an addition to your app for converting the timecode audio into the meta of the video
RODE can you PLEASE give us a TimeCode Mode 6. What would be most useful is: Transmitter 1 to Left Channel / Transmitter 2 to Right Channel / TimeCode to USB Left and Right Channels. This makes the most sense and should be accomplished via firmware. The idea that when I use timecode I can only get the SUMMED Transmitter 1 and Transmitter 2 audio is crazy. PLEASE, please. Thanks.
we need more timecode output options, like currently we can't output split audio over the 3.5mm and only timecode over usb c, which brings me to my next point, cameras like the FX3 only accept timecode via the multi port (micro usb) and it would be helpful to have a usb c to multiport timecode cable...would probably need multiple lengths to be able to mount the receiver on the body or the audio handle of the fx3
iPhone 15 Pro with the "Blackmagic Cam" application allows you to record audio in 32-bit with the "IEEE Float" format. If you connect the "Rode Wireles Pro" transmitter to the "iPhone 15 Pro" with the USB-C cable, will you be receiving a 32-bit signal from the transmitter? What kHz and how many bits (16, 24, 32) does the receiver receive from the transmitters? Or is 32-bit audio only possible to record internally in the transmitters?
Hey there @eweelyliemberg, great question! The Wireless PRO transmitters don't output audio via USB-C, only the reciever. The reciever recieves 24-bit audio, not 32-bit.
I recently used my RODE Wireless PRO's for the first time. I shoot using a drone as well. I originally thought that I could point the drone at the receiver and record the timecode so that I can use it to align my drone footage. Unfortunately the shine/glare from the finish of the receiver prevents the timecode from being recorded, not to mention the size of the display. Can you please release an iPhone app/slate that can be jam sync'd with the receiver? It would serve a lot more purposes than my scenario.
No explanation of the "YET"? Is it going to be a firmware update or will it entail additional attached accessories? Hope its the former for obvious reasons. Can't wait to see what DJI, Deity, and Hollyland will come out with. In a few months most other brands I'm sure will also have TC enabled and 32 bit float units. I'll like to see Hollyland's implementation with its dial setup.
Deity's PR-2 will unfortunately hit the market in Q4 2024 per a pre-sales support question I sent them. I hope the response is wrong but that's what they sent me.
@@dyong888 I imagine they will have to respond, but I gotta admit. This video has made me switch my thinking.... good job RODE! I love the responsiveness. I was sold on the tentacle track e to replace my original wireless go's (tentacle is releasing firmware shortly that will allow the track e to jam sync other devices).... as I'm switching to timecode so I don't really need the wireless anymore. That said, RODE has me sold on this solution now and it will allow me both the wireless I'm used to as well as replacing that track with the 32-bit track on the TX. I'll likely record the LTC signal and use the RX audio as scratch audio and the TX audio as the master going forward. We'll see.

So, I've got mine-the 32-bit float is lovely, but there's an issue. I synced two cameras (FX6 and A7IV) in DaVinci, and the cameras are perfectly in sync. However, your TX is drifting by -0.55 frames. To be honest, I have no idea how this is possible. Another thing: if you try to record at 0:21 AM, what is on the RX shows as 00:21:00:00, but your TX shows 24:21:00:00, which is also odd. More interestingly, on the synced cameras, the timecode starts correctly at 00:21:00:00. I really like the audio quality of this product, but the timecode feature is useless at the moment.
Hey there @GMMediaSolutions, thanks for stopping by today! 😊 So first up, the Wireless PRO has a clock accuracy of 0.5PPM (parts per million). This very accurate clock matches those used in other professional timecode systems. If you believe the Wireless PRO's timecode clock to be the source of your issues, you're welcome to get in contact with our service team so they can help figure out what's going on. Furthermore, we're aware that there is an error in the way the Wireless PRO handles recordings that cross midnight- a fix for this issue will be coming shortly. Thanks for staying patient during this time!
I asked this question on another video and they told me no. You can sync them both through the app, but they wouldn't be locked. They said you would still need to nudge them in post to get them to be perfectly synced.
Random question unrelated to the video,(although I do love seeing all the support you guys have in the comments) I was wandering if you guys anything planned for a potential MyRodeReel or similar competition in the works for either this year or next year?

Any news of timecode jaming a Rode Receiver? Or how to sync 2 sets of Rode Wireless Pro, if we need recordings from 4 microphones synced with multiple camera sources?
Hello there @moremomentum4074! We are still looking into creating an external timecode sync feature for this device. In the meantime, the Wireless PRO cannot accept an incoming timecode to sync to, so you can't connect them together.
Hey Steije. Thanks for your interest in this update- we're excited to bring more versatility to this product. We can't say exactly when this will be releasing at the moment, but stay tuned!
Question: @0:42 you mention the receiver has the accurate oscillator. SO if I want to use the transmitters as 32-bit recorders without attaching the receiver to my camera after I jam-sync it, I need to still keep the receiver running and nearby to ensure the mic/transmitter stays in sync, right?
Hey there! This is a really good question. The transmitters can be used independently and they will record timecode as long as you have turned timecode on in RØDE Central. You don't need to choose a "timecode mode", timecode just needs to be on. The reciever will send timecode to the transmitter this way, and once it's started, if the reciever is disconnected and turned off, the transmitters will continue to "free run" timecode. If the reciever is turned on again, the reciever will resync with the transmitters. The timecode in the transmitters will be less accurate than in the recievers, so it's best to keep your reciever on, but if you lose connection, it's not the end of the world.
@@rodemic Thanks. That's good to know. So it seems the most accurate oscillator is in the Receiver, although the Transmitters can run without syncing to it.
Currently I have 3 BMPCC6ks with the old Wireless Go II. I'm about to upgrade to a TCI setup for syncing timecode on all my cameras for multi-view. Is this system able to sync up to 3 kits with the same timecode via an app? If each of my 3 cams had a dedicated Wireless PRO, I would love to upgrade to this if I can sync all 3 cams with a master clock/slave config from the phone rather that jam syncing manually. Please advise if this functionality is possible or likely with your system. I'm very satisfied with my Wireless Go II and its 32bit float. If I could add timecode functionality without adding extra devices I'm sold. Thanks guys! I asked in your FB form but received no response.
Ill buy one when that firmware update arrives for it to be jam synced through external sources. Otherwise its too limiting for me especially when im already deeply invested in the tentacle system
Hey Kendrick, that's fair enough- just note that your system may or may not be capable of recieving timecode from another device such as the Wireless PRO.
Thanks for clarifying some concerns about time code on the Wireless Pro. Q: I have a Panasonic S1H which has a timecode port. Is there a way to send time code to this camera's timecode port via USB-C while still recording two discrete audio tracks to the camera? It appears that audio from the two transmitters would normally be merged to one track on the camera, while the other track records time code.
Hey David, the only way to currently use the USB audio output from the Wireless PRO is with USB audio devices like computers, iOS devices and Android phones.
This is great response for the live recording (TX RX recoding devices). But there is another way for TX local recording … time code also works with files as well … in this case do I need to turn on RX as time code server for TXs !?
From my research the answer is yes, the RX must be on for the TXs to maintain accurate sync. With the Rx turned off or out of range the TXs free run which could cause drift.
@@KayakFishingAddict right now I have issue without RX, only do TX(s) local recording I have sync issue and echo issue … in Wirless goII. Hope Pro time code can solve this issue … normally I am 4 TX(s) for the local recording
Hi Rode! Can we exptect that it will be possible to sync timecode among multiple Wireless Pro Sets? If yes, when? It would of course work once it can be jam synced from an external source. BUT: Could you give your "YET" an mor precise time estimate. Are we talking days, weeks, month? :) I´d love to use the Pros for our workflow but we need to be able to timecode sync more the two TX onboard recordings in post. Thanks for your reply!!
I am so close to buy, important question: do the transmitters record internally the timecode and the file in 32bit? I don’t like to rely on the file coming from a receiver and I prefer to sync in post the files recorded in the transmitters, thanks:)
Thank you for addressing the issue. The "yet" @01:44 is the key, without that implied promise along with the accuracy discussion @00:37 there was no way I'd purchase, now I'm ready to preorder. I only wish that you would have stated the drift number, or if you don't have an official one, I wish you would have stated we don't have one "yet" and published it later! So please, please, please publish that soon!
One question, would it be possible to use two receivers simultaneously with one or two transmitters and have the time code on the receivers synced? This would be grate for multi camera setup.
Hey there, the unit is designed to record a mic level signal, so a line level signal will be too hot. However, it may be possible using a weak line level signal, but just note that this is not a supported use case of the device.
Hey there, there are 2 ways to do this: - A cable: if your iPad uses a lightning cable, use a compatible Lightning to USB-C cable such as the SC15 or SC19. If your iPad uses a USB-C cable, use a compatible USB-C to USB-C cable like the SC16. - Bluetooth: Go to settings➡️system➡️bluetooth and connect your device as usual. Hey there, you will be able to sync your device with the Wireless PRO using a 3.5mm to BNC cable. We don't make any of these cables ourselves, however.
Not sure what you mean by skeptics. What I’ve seen is many professionals who are already used to working in a timecode driven set voicing serious concerns around who Rode has implemented timecode, both as demonstrated in their view and from reading the fully released manual. Rode addressed a couple of the less serious concerns (though somewhat still show stopper concerns) like external jam sync here, but completely ignored even larger such as the need for both full audio output AND separate full time LTC output for any scenario that involved jam syncing to a camera.
Hey @Roypost, if you'd like to use more than three mics, you won't be able to sync them with timecode. You could use VXLRs and SC11s to record them into a multitrack recorder like a RØDECaster PRO, you could manually sync them using a clap or similar, or you could use a computer and RØDE Connect to record them all at the same time.
Will there be a drift if you jam sync this timecode to a deity TC-1 or tentacle sync after 4 hours? Or after 24 / 72 hours. That's the big question for me. If the Rode Timecode is just ok for 4 hours it's better than the internal on most mirrorless cams but worse (with risk of drift on any shoots past 3-4 hours) than the TC-1and Tentacle syncs
The Wireless PRO has a clock accuracy of 0.5PPM (parts per million). This very accurate clock is matches those used in other professional timecode systems. So the amount of drift you'll experience will really depend on the other devices in your setup and how accurate they are. Other professional devices with accurate clocks like the Wireless PRO will remain in sync for a whole day. Devices with less accurate clocks will drift sooner- this depends entirely on the device being used. If your device exhibits more drift, then you can either re-jam more often, or re-sync things on the timeline as necessary in post production.
That is great news. Thank you so much for clarifying that. I would recommend you let those who review your products to make sure to underscore this 0.5PPM accuracy. Also, I would clarify this in your upcoming videos, marketing pics etc. The way I (and mos) understood it until now is that the 4 hour re-syncing issue has to do with Rode Wireless Pro's clock and not the mirrorless cameras, etc that don't have reliable TC. I'm seriously considering your device now. Also, seriously hoping we'll be able to sync the wireless pro to external TC (Tentacle, Deity, etc) @@rodemic

There's still a problem with the choice of timecode modes. There is no way on this system to output L&R mics separately (not merged) from the 3.5mm output if you have timecode enabled. This is a deal breaker for me, and many others I suspect. Please add this as a 6th timecode mode option.
@@JanSur I don't always need the audio timecode - just the L&R channels separately, and some time of day timecode on the backup recordings. Huge time saver.
@@christobella agreed and the fact they haven’t addressed this here after so many point it out is highly disappointing. The lack of this mode is a complete show stopper and I can’t even consider it until it’s added. I do need the LTC also though on the USB output full time in addition as is available in some timecode modes, but the lack of proper audio output is outrageous.
Hey @christobella, as long as you enable the 'timecode' setting on your Wireless PRO (via RØDE Central) and begin recording on your transmitters while they're both paired to the receiver, your on-board recordings will have timecode information striped to their metadata. This means that you can use the 'split' mode on the receiver's 3.5mm output to capture stereo audio to your camera while still having your on-board recordings contain timecode information.
@@rodemic thanks for your reply. The trouble is, this still won't give me split, separate audio L&R into the camera. There is no timecode mode option that supports this. I don't want to have to ingest the backup audio every time I shoot.
I'm gonna say once more: Whoever developed timecode for this model has no clue about a production needs. There's no freaking way Rode can make a big deal of timecode when the unit can only be a Server but not a Slave!!!! Even If I wanted to work with multiple Rode Pro sets , this limitation makes timecode in the model useless. Good God. Focus on promoting the 32 bit float, and forget about promoting the timecode for this model. You guys messed up on this! I hope next model fix this issue, and the next wireless Rode model accepts to be a Slave, connecting in real time with a Server over bluetooth. Boom! Then you all have THE MIC ... and I'll feel the need to move from my Rode Go II sets into the next model. Good luck !
Thanks for the feedback! We'd love to explore this as an option, but the MI shoe is proprietary Sony technology so we'd need them to come to the party too 🎉😎
Why does not Rode provide android users the abality to manage deleting or formatting of internal recorded files using Android phone ... just deleting/formatting the whole days recording once will also work but its really essential that android users be provided with this capabilities and not go around searching for pc or apple products . Hey there, the reciever sends timecode signal to the transmitters wirelessly, but if the transmitters go out of range, they will continue to "free run" timecode until they reconnect to the reciever, at which point, they units will resync. So yes, timecode will continue to work if you go out of range.
I love how RODE handles all feedback head-on and provides facts that help us make the right decisions. No sugar-coating.
Thanks @TechforToastmasters! That's exactly why we made this video.
But they skipped the part where they suggest to jam sync other devices and then unplug the receiver... every camera will drift then.
I love the word "Yet" they used to the question about jamming TC into the Wireless Pro ...
I'm happy there were voices in the community pressing for these direct answers.
check the 2min mark. It's not possibel to jam sync from an external clock "YET". The Rode needs to be the master
No problem Kevin! We think the community is certainly owed some clarity about how these devices work- we're always down to provide that! 🚀
Speaks for Røde that you address the questions so fast and accurate!
Cheers Frank! 🌠
THIS! 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾
Love this Rode.
Thanks for pointing out these concerns to Rode. For this price and features this is a major go for my business.
@@kevinbatts2804 it’s definitely a go for most. I love that they responded and I’m even more happy that my speculations were false.
My Rode Wireless Pro comes tomorrow! Thanks for releasing such an amazing kit at an affordable price!

You should make extra wireless timebox boxes to sync multiple cameras
Someone else "should" make that. Rode is focused on audio recording. That's what successful companies do. They focus on being good at one thing.
You can already use other brands timecode devices, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did bring out their own at some point. Right now their focus is really on the audio side, I am sure the timecode part will be expanded in due course. 😊

Good luck on your journey! 🌋⚔️
Question:
Will you produce a USB-C to BNC cable for cameras to receive time code while recording stereo sound via the jack plug?
Suggestion:
Please consider also offering a (simple) time code receiver that works with the Wireless Pro that can be put on a second / third / "n"th camera so different camera angles can be synchronised as well.

Feedback handled like a boss.
Great video team!! Just ordered one. Looking forward to it. Cheers.
Wow i see RODE going all in with these...
I had the GO, I have the GO II and now I'll have to GO PRO :D
Hey KayakFishingAddict! Welcome back to the channel. Thanks for bringing this to us- I've passed this onto the team for them to look at.
same here..
Nicely done.
I think it’s shocking that RØDE are politely debunking the negative videos from people who haven’t even used the system. That’s just spoiling the fun! 😂
I guess my humour didn’t get through to some.
@@TheTechnoPilotit has one output. How did you think it was going to send a dedicated timecode AND audio output?
@@TheTechnoPilot I’ve also updated my initial comment as my fun comment wasn’t taken in the spirit intended.
So jam from rode to diety or tentacle sync units and then place them on each camera. I assume that would work. I just tried to jam sync from one of my tentacle sync boxes to the others and it work so I assume I could go from rode to tentacle sync as well
Exactly- we've tested many timecode setups like this here at RØDE and it works as you described. 👌

No inaccurate information all information came from the sources available at the moment. Minimal info was given about time code until now
So then don't give advice and share opinions to other people on the back of minimal information.
+1 point to Rode
When will the “Yet” by Can you jam the rode wireless pro from An external source be clarified
Hey there @antoniusvandermeijde5054! While we can confirm we're still looking into this update, we don't have a timeline to announce for it at this stage, but stay tuned to our social channels for further updates.
@@rodemic okay, thank you for your message, because I am still waiting for a røde device for camera 2,3 and 4
I think one of the big drawbacks is that I can’t jam TO the Rode Pro, (…yet?) which is super frustrating for those of us who have other timecode systems that we treat as the master
I’ve owned every single iteration of the Rode Go line and Rodelink systems, have a bachelors in recording engineering and I work in film/TV/commercials every single day. (when we are not on strike, that is), it’s a major inconvenience to not be able to freely jam what you want from your CHOSEN timecode slave device, it got a lot of peoples hopes up, myself included.
As far as the accuracy claims, I would love to review a unit to compare against other timecode systems on the market myself, as a professional user, to properly test out these claims on accuracy
(I think it’s about time a real world user who’s supported every iteration of these, gets a review unit, not a social media influencer who will never use it after the initial review and probably turn right around and sell it)
my biggest gripe with these systems is not being able to use two devices seamlessly. when receivers are near each other the cutouts and interference are insane.
Hey there, sorry to hear you're experiencing issues syncing with your C70! We'd recommend copy and pasting your message in a request to our service team here: rode.com/en/support/contact
They may not be able to help out with 3rd party devices, but could have any additional tips or advice for your situation.
That lapel microphone looks like the new standard “lavalier” and employs both voice and CHEST vibrations to ensure a very clean, clear and quality sound!! R&D is alive and well at Røde 🎉❤❤ Thanks guys (and girls 😂) for getting it right. We use your products everyday. ❤I ❤😊😊😊
Thank you for the kind words! 🌠
Any updates on whether or not the Rode wireless pros can receive timecode? I liked that Rode said not “YET” but it’s been over a year and I would love to be able to jam sync my wireless pros. That would be a game changer!
Thank you ❤️ 😎
I'm starting to love RODE more and more by the minute 😄 They don't just let these arbitrary opinions float out there
YET! cool that how you address these concerns.
That will be fixed once the "yet" @01:44 is fulfilled.
Would it also be possible to run both systems with regular timecode, calculate the offset between the two systems, then either re-write the timecode in one of the systems using that offset or nudge the audio by the offset in the edit?
Can you sync two or more sets of Wireless Pro? 4 transmitters and 2 receivers?
😅 rode.. love y'all.
Is there an upgrade path from from earlier versions of the Rode Wireless microphones? I've only used my Go 2 kit a couple of times before getting frustrated with it.
Keep in mind 32bit float and TC are both hardware components. Either a device has it physically or it doesn't.
When I record both transmitters via split recording and using the receiver to trigger the recording and I goto rename each files on the transmitters, it changes the name on both files instead of just one of the files. (example transmitter 1 file was 0001. and rename it to test A, transmitter 2 file which was initially 0001 will also change to test A)
Aye I love this video! Rode had time!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😤🤝🏾
Is jam syncing the rodecaster pro 2 or duo with it coming soon in software update?
Hey Lee, thanks for stopping by! That's not currently on our firmware roadmap, but we've passed that idea onto the team. 💡
Yes Yes and Yes!
Hi Rode, I think the wireless pro is a nice solution for a small crew, I would like to see an addition to your app for converting the timecode audio into the meta of the video
That's a great idea! We'll pass it onto the team.
Thanks.
Thanks for the suggestion! We'll be sure to let our development team know.
we need more timecode output options, like currently we can't output split audio over the 3.5mm and only timecode over usb c, which brings me to my next point, cameras like the FX3 only accept timecode via the multi port (micro usb) and it would be helpful to have a usb c to multiport timecode cable...would probably need multiple lengths to be able to mount the receiver on the body or the audio handle of the fx3
Thanks for the feedback Will! Will pass this onto the team.
Will the RØDECaster Pro 3 be available? Or when will it be out? :)
iPhone 15 Pro with the "Blackmagic Cam" application allows you to record audio in 32-bit with the "IEEE Float" format.
@@rodemic The receiver can then transmit 24-bit audio over the USB-C cable to the phone or camera it connects to. it's right? Thanks
That leaves DJI & Hollyland. We shall see what happens.@@KayakFishingAddict
We'll see.

so when can we expect fo have the timecode slave function? 😃
"Yet" :D
Is it possible to sync 2 wireless pro kits? -->4 transmitters, 2 recievers
I asked this question on another video and they told me no. You can sync them both through the app, but they wouldn't be locked. They said you would still need to nudge them in post to get them to be perfectly synced.
Thanks @kustoo, that's correct.

When is the update coming to jam sync the wireless pro from an external source?
I´d love to use the Pros for our workflow but we need to be able to timecode sync more the two TX onboard recordings in post. Thanks for your reply!!
How to jam timecode with 2 sets or more of rode wireless pro?
I am so close to buy, important question: do the transmitters record internally the timecode and the file in 32bit? I don’t like to rely on the file coming from a receiver and I prefer to sync in post the files recorded in the transmitters, thanks:)
Yes, in fact, only the audio recorded internally in the transmitters is in 32-bit float.
Rode are misleading you, PRO should mean I can use it on the surface of the Sun. With a max working temp of only 185f I think il pass. (sarcasm)
Can you use it with Sony VMC-BNCM1 Timecode Adapter Cable?
Since that cable doesn't feature a USB-C or 3.5mm connector, no, it can't.
One question, would it be possible to use two receivers simultaneously with one or two transmitters and have the time code on the receivers synced? This would be grate for multi camera setup.
@@rodemic maybe a feature request, but what if one could use two receivers at the same time?
Is transmitter able to accept and record strong line input from mix? Zoom F2 records 32bit float but can not handle line input.
Hey there, the unit is designed to record a mic level signal, so a line level signal will be too hot. However, it may be possible using a weak line level signal, but just note that this is not a supported use case of the device.
@@rodemic You can also use an attenuator cable 👍
Yet is still valid? can you receive timecode or still only as a master?
Hi can you help me connect RodeCaster pro 2 with my iPad thanks

- A cable: if your iPad uses a lightning cable, use a compatible Lightning to USB-C cable such as the SC15 or SC19. If your iPad uses a USB-C cable, use a compatible USB-C to USB-C cable like the SC16.
- Bluetooth: Go to settings➡️system➡️bluetooth and connect your device as usual.

Just need an adaptor, I bought the Diety 3.5mm to BNC timecode cable to do exactly this (Rode Pro -> MixPre for example)
Hey there, you will be able to sync your device with the Wireless PRO using a 3.5mm to BNC cable. We don't make any of these cables ourselves, however.
Thank you for explaining this to all the people and skeptics in the TH-cam creator community without calling them out by name.😂
Hi Rode, can you produce some rode InvisiLav for Lavalier 2?
That's not in the works currently, but it is a great suggestion. I'll pass it onto the team.
@@rodemic Thanks, we really need it, instead of finding 3rd party lav concealer for Rode lav
So what if I need three mics and want to use timecode?

I am not sure if it is possible..there are only two chanels...

So yes, timecode will continue to work if you go out of range.
