I found out if you have metal outdoor furniture, if you wax with car wax it makes the metal look new. It looks so nice and is protected by the wax. Im going to try it. I have an English garden in my backyard. Spring brings the most beautiful plants and flowers that I can make arrangements for my home. So blessed. The wax would work on your gazebo too.
Excellent idea,. I’ve been using Wise Owl furniture Salve for a few years now on my 19 year old set and I’ve always loved the results but this year I’ll try car wax on a few sets and see which is more durable,
I’m curious if the birds actually come to your bird feeder? Although it’s very pretty it looks like it’d be difficult for them to see & get the food. I always like your creations and you inspire me to try new things. Oh, and I loved the car wax idea that one of your viewers recommended!
I always wonder if my American idea of an English garden is on point. I know that I need more climbing plants and some taller flowers. I am working on this still! Please, share your thoughts when you finish watching.
It’s actually very close, the plant selections are really good, it’s not as warm and sunny here, but I don’t think that matters. Your patio area looks great, and I love the pebble butterfly’s, I’m trying that myself

How lovely is this! I'm English and have an English cottage garden. Yours is beautiful thank you for sharing your ideas ❤ I'm not sure what will grow in your climate but I have amongst others lavenders and honeysuckle (great for bees and other pollinators) also roses but the uk climate is changing and our roses are suffering blackspot mildew and rust. I also add mirrors to my garden and patios to trick the eye. Geums, Aquilegia (granny's bonnet) are great cottage garden flowers tall and repeat flowering as are any of the taller daisy families. Love this video and I've shared it with friends.
I would love to see more outside projects! I absolutely love the way you decorated your patio. I always look forward to your videos every Monday! You place every project you diy so nicely. Your patio looks so inviting now. We have a small farm on 4 acres. No deck and no patio, so I have decided to make a seating area under the trees. You have given me so many great ideas in this video to incorporate into my area.
Hi Sherry, What I’ve always liked about your videos is how you show the “mechanics” of your projects so I can see how you’ve put things together. For instance, in this video when you glued the head back onto the garden statue you used painters tape to secure it while it was drying… something I never would have thought to do. Thanks for generously sharing your ideas❤
I love the blue carpet and all the blue touches! I know you thrifted a lot of items and are reusing lots, too, but the way you’ve arranged everything gives it such a beautiful curated over time look. It’s such a cozy space it must be a joy to sit out there relaxing.💕
I love all your ideas, watching your videos sure brightens up my day. I’m a caretaker for my husband who has Parkinson’s dementia so I don’t get to go anywhere very often but very thankful for people like you who put out great videos
Oh, thank you! I am so sorry that your husband is not well. I know that is an incredible challenge for you. Thinking of you and wishing you strength in this difficult time. ❤️
Wow, I loved all your projects! Especially the ones where you added a bird or two! And the blue and white pillow cases were divine! Yes more outdoor videos please!
Shannon, I absolutely am hoping you find a new home with a great landlord. My kids were so lucky to find rental homes with landlords that let them make numerous changes. 🤞
Just beautiful! So full of personality and interesting things to discover! I did INDEED get so many good ideas! I just adore all the birds you used!! I have such a weakness for all the birdies!
My garden ! Here in rural Lincolnshire in uk ! Have to be honest it’s a joy and hides all the weeds! Love your little cottage space very pretty love your ideas a few going in my English garden this year
Sherry, your back patio/English Garden looks so cozy and inviting. I love the way you take items and repurpose them. Metal basket to lighting fixture or a chandelier repurposed as a hanging basket holder. Makes Monday afternoons so enjoyable. Can't wait for the next installment. Karen
This has been one of my favorite videos. I've watched it twice now. Love how you show the simplicity of putting things together for your viewers so we can do the same. Thank you
I love English country gardens and you added so much of this charm to your patio Sherry. I loved your fountain and how you inserted interesting items into your flower pots. And the lighting is gorgeous at night! So pretty.
Hello Sherry! Love what you did with your patio. So fun watching you put it together. It truly looks like a cottage garden. I know you'll enjoy it this summer. Love seeing Edgar and Zoe 😊
I live in England and have a cottage garden .We keep the lawn and patio tidy but the rest anything goes. The birds bring in seeds and at the moment we have cowslips forget me nots and foxgloves none of these we planted. It is always interesting to walk round to see what else has appeared. Sadly concrete slabs and gravel seem to be the most popular type of garden now. They don't know what they are missing. Mr fox like visiting, so keep the English garden alive well done Sherry.
Starting with that beautiful brick wall and green backdrop was perfect. It really set the stage with blue pool water in the background . My theory for planters is a Papa bear, Mama bear and a Baby bear . Staggering heights is visually pleasing. And mixing foliage and flowers really add interest. The blue rug is so pretty with the pillows , throws and chinoiserie pots . The fountain was my favorite, and I love the black bench. You have so much fun creating. Its a gift for sure.
There is no garden like an English garden and you have created a most beautiful and restful one! I love the topiary you made from the two wire hanging planters from Dollar Tree. Also, the bird houses on the wall decor are charming.
Sherri, those cypress trees would benefit from pruning off the brown bits. After I trim the dead branches off as close to the live wood as possible, I take a garden hose with the nozzle on a high pressure jet setting and turn it on the brown areas of my trees every year or so. The water pressure knocks the ugly brown “needles” right off. Of course it will make a bit of a mess to clean up but the trees will look better and have room on the branches for fresh green growth.
Love all your ideas...at night....it's beautiful and calming. My daughter-in-law loves English gardens and she is working on transforming her front yard to look like one....she's doing a great job. I may reccomend putting a water fountain and some solar lights...like that idea!!! Thanks, Sherrie!!❤😊
Absolutely gorgeous...only one thing I'd add ..a few more bright flowering plants....but you know how the sun works out there...I love hanging ferns, hibiscus, hydrangeas...I LOVE BRIGHT COLORS...BUT GIRL YOU ARE "EXTREMELY" TALENTED... AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL 😍❤️
We live in high desert so my husband put up solar sails to filter sun on our patio. All of the Dollar store pots we used from last year cracked & broke so I am on the search for clay pots again. Using old mugs, bowls, shoes etc. Your ideas & arrangements are wonderful.
You just amaze me and all your creativity. I love every clock you have in videos and love that you incorporate birds with a lot of your projects. You make everything come together effortlessly and it is so unique. I’m sure you were and excellent English teacher but I am so grateful that you decided to pursue this part of you 😊
1) I have only been subscribed to your channel since around Christmas, so I'm not sure that I had yet learned that you're in Illinois. That's where I grew up and I have such a soft spot for it. It's funny because I already felt like your channel was a breath of home, and now I have that confirmed. 😄 2) You probably know that English Ivy is invasive, so please be careful how you dispose of it if it dies back. 3) I can't clearly see your little plant that survived the winter, but something about it reminded me of a chocolate mint plant I had as a teen. Sweet and nostalgic. Thanks for another cozy and cheerful video! ♥️
WOW! It’s so whimsical and charming ♥️. Worthy of any English cottage! I’m so glad you showed us nighttime with the beautiful lighting features as well. I would live on that patio all spring and summer long.
Great idea using extra hostas in containers! They always need dividing. Succulents need good drainage, so if your container doesn’t have drainage holes, try planting them in a plastic nursery pot and put that in the container. You can remove the plastic pot when you water and let it drain.
I am always in such awe of your creativity and then you said you either over water or underwater your succulents and you made me feel like a okay plant mom because I do the same at times
This English cottage patio makeover is so charming! I loved all your practical, thoughtful, and particularly whimsical details. Your little bubbler fountain potted planter is adorable. I'm inspired. I think my patio needs a makeover. Thank you Sherri! ❤
Looks Great!...with the summer outdoor season fast approaching, I would love to see more Outdoor Living Projects...Q: your bird feeder, what happens if it rains, would the bowl fill with water, that has all the seed in it?
Sherry, this such a beautifully done video. I loved watching! The way you styled your patio makes me want to sit and have a tea and chat. Your voice is soothing, you explain everything you do so effectively. I have to confess that you have become one of my comfort TH-camrs ☺️ if I’ve had a rough day I watch your videos. Thank you. 🙏
Good afternoon, Sherry! Just in time! We are currently working on our deck. Thank you for sharing! Happy Mother's day! Love, Bobbie. xoxo ❤ P.S. your patio turned out so charming and cozy! I especially love the little girl statue and the touches of blue. 💙
Good afternoon, Bobbie! I think this is the earliest I have decorated the patio, but I’m so glad I did because we are already really enjoying it. I’m afraid that it will be too hot outside in no time at all. Happy Mother’s Day to you, too!
Hi Sherri, every area of your patio is exciting. My favorite DIY on the patio is the clock with the hanging flowers. 2nd is the chandelier bird cage with the white birds. Love ❤️ your videos. You are amazing.
Hi my dear friend thanks so much for sharing another wonderful video with us today. Oh my gosh your garden is so beautiful and you put so much time and effort into it. I love how it’s such a beautiful place to sit and relax you’re doing an awesome job putting this together. I love the idea of an English cottage garden and you have put so many unique pieces in this already. Thanks so much for sharing giving so many great ideas.
It’s so beautiful! I’m glad everyone is safe. I live in KS so I feel your pain. My childhood home was destroyed in a 🌪️. It was awful. I love your videos and charming home and beautiful gardens. ❤
I LOVE all of your garden, floral, lighting and pot ideas. All of the added wreaths and statues make it so inviting. Thanks for sharing your inspirations❤
Sherry, I was imagining that I was sitting in your English garden and sipping some tea and biscuits (cookies here in Georgia) and taking in all the ambiance you have created. You really made it gorgeous and so peaceful and serene! Loved the blue and white rug you used. And I will be searching for the chinoiserie pillow covers on Amazon. I loved them. Great video as always!!
Oh, thank you so much! I think the pillow covers are linked in my Amazon store if you have trouble finding them. The pattern is so pretty for an outdoor pillow!
Loving the blues! 💙 Using all the thrifted items gives a one-of-a-kind, cozy look to the space. The after dark view is so romantic. I love watching your outdoor remakes!
Ooh, lovely! And ready for those warmer evenings! It looks so pretty with all the lights and I love all the ornaments. I planted Hens and Chicks outside our main communal entrance a couple of years ago. (I'd been walking past them looking at the dying twigs sitting in them and decided to put some actual greenery in them as no-one else seemed bothered!) I can honestly say, I watered them only once last year when we'd had several days of scorching heat and the soil was clearly dried out - I was up at around 6am to make sure the water didn't burn off by the time the heat intensified later in the day. It really is less is more with those, I've found. They tend to thrive of their own accord - one planter is in dappled sunlight under a tree and grew very happily. So I would say, don't water them for several weeks at least, depending on where you've got them and how hot the weather gets. And then, just leave them be - particularly if there is no drainage in the pot. My planters are solid urns affixed to stair pillars without drainage so I popped a few pebbles in the bottom then a piece of plastic gauze to raise the soil and roots from the pebbles - otherwise it kind of defeats the purpose of trying to give the water a little space to drip down to and hopefully evaporate/seep through the concrete slowly. Root rot can be quite common with succulents so unless they look horrifically parched, err on the side of caution and don't water regularly at all. 🪴Hope that helps! Good luck🥰
Great inspiring videos. So many cute and easy to make ideas. Can you make a video about what you do to keep it looking nice? Watering all those little pots...removing spiders from the curtain folds...sweeping leaves and tree debris from the corners. And a video what you do at year end to clean up your area and where you put everything you made!

Your patio is beautiful and peaceful! What a wonderful place to sit and enjoy cup of coffee or tea!
