I was at the stage entrance so I also heard him bust BLs during the openers.

You HAVE to read (or listen on audible) “Surprise, Kill, Vanish” by Annie Jacobsen. It’s an absolutely incredible book with the most astounding stories about different operators in Vietnam, with A LOT of just amazing SOG stories. The story of Billy Waugh is just enthralling. Also check out his book “Hunting the Jackal.” Not as good but very interesting still.

Two of the best memoirs I’ve read about Vietnam were Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and Whispers in the tall grass. First one has a story with a Green Berets 9 man recon team surround by a division of 10,000-15,000 hardcore NVA. The second is a Hunter S Thompson like depiction of that same recon unit.

When ever I think of the French and the Vietnam war, I recall the cut the scene from Apocalypse Now! Where they find that French family going down the river. They truley believed that Vietnam belonged to them. So strange.

Great Vietnam video game- air conflicts Vietnam. You fly every aircraft in Vietnam and in campaign you get letters from your wife and daughter as they slowly over time come to hate you. the game ends with you losing the war, your wife leaves you, your daughter never talks to you again and you die 20 years later from cancer you got from dropping agent orange. All in all, very realistic game!
