Space chicken had to make 3 videos discussing how broken sunshine is. If any Mario game would benefit from a remake it's this game because it has a lot of rough edges.

I actually remember finding a useless clip as a kid. In the lonely island secret (the toxic leaf boat one), you can jump off the far end and use hover nozzle to go into the waterfall. This puts you right on the bottom of the toxic river, where you can run around freely
For all it's charms, Super Mario Sunshine somehow managed to feel less polished than its predecessor, not because of the control issues, but because of the sheer number of mission difficulty spikes and drops, glitches that broke the game far more obviously than even SM64's did, and graphical and model inconsistencies that stood out even to the most casual players. Also that stinkin' Pachinko level.

I don't agree. It's only now that you hear people on TH-cam claiming that Sunshine is this horrible broken mess when it really isn't and never was. Just because a speedrunner and someone who's literal career on this platform revolves around desperately finding exploits in games can go and break this game doesn't mean that any average player experiencing the game is going to attempt to skip half of Noki Bay.
D'onte Graves I love Super Mario Sunshine! Nothing and no one can take away how I feel about that game nor the joy it gave me ever since I was a little kid! However, throughout all my (casual) playthroughs, there will always, ALWAYS, be two or three “what the fuck” moments! It can be from one off mechanics like the boat, lily pads, or Fludd’s alt. nozzles or it could be a case or two of Mario glitching with the environment (I have Mario’s stuttering “dismount” grunt branded into my head!). Even for a casual player, the game is not perfect! Speedrunners often get b***h fits whenever the game’s run doesn’t go their way, and I understand that you shouldn’t judge a game based on the frustrations from a speedrunner or anyone who wants to exploit a game’s imperfect cracks; however, I would be lying if I said this game didn’t leave me fuming at some points and leave me questioning why the developers decided to make some of these mechanical decisions!
I've done the Monty Mole skip in Pinna Park by complete accident more than a decade ago. I've never been able to replicate it and I've never seen anyone mention it since. Glad to know I'm not crazy :P
There's another way to perform the dune bud glitch: Get Yoshi and do the same to do the glitch. While Mario is flying sky high, dismount Yoshi and Mario will litteraly take forever to land. I remember doing this glitch, but I never knew how much time it takes for Mario to touch ground again. But seriously, it takes FOREVER for Mario to land again!

The Rocket Nozzle Rope Glitch has to be my personal favorite on this list as you can easily see the whole map in the game. ☺ I actually am quite surprised you still can see the smoke from Corona Mountain moving as it isn't visible to start off from that level. No wonder this game has such a high rating as it can easily be broken but still functions well.
This game was made when I was real little and yet the water in this game looks soooo refreshing compared to the water I see in most games! How in the world can it look so good? I just wanna go swimming every time!
The GameCube era is the one with the most glitchy games by Nintendo (Melee, sunshine, paper Mario, etc) They are all great games in concept, but have game-breaking bugs that are incredibly easy to encounter on normal play

Yep, this sums up my time with Sunshine. A broken masterpiece that somehow gives fans a reason to play it despite its broken nature. I would say this is the most broken GameCube game I have, but Melee easily takes the cake.

This got recommended to me and I knew this game was broken because of the way Mario can clip through the stupid blocks in the fluddless levels. I DIED SO MANY TIMES BECAUSE THE GAME IS STUPID AND DOESN'T HAVE GOOD COLLISION! For example I was jumping left on a rolling rectangle cube and then Mario just said fuck it and clipped through the block.
If you do the ground pound on the buds whilst riding Yoshi, and jump off Yoshi as it launches you, you can get stuck in the air for over an hour! I did it as a kid, left the GameCube going for an hour, returned and Mario was still stuck in a ground pound (since I foolishly also started a ground pound as I was falling). I should have waited and saw how long it would have taken, as I never got to repeat this glitch this efficiently (normally takes just the usual time to return), but I impatiently had just used the reset button on the GameCube. :/ I wonder if it was unrelated to the Yoshi dismount, as I never have been able to reproduce it. (Nor have I seen any evidence online of this extended version of the glitch)
Also another glitch here, if you slowly inch yourself into water from an angle or slope, the water layer might not register, and Mario can be free to walk underwater. I did this so many times in the hot springs of Pianta Village and pretended I was a shark. Good times.
Super Mario Sunshine, like The Wind Waker, was a very rushed and, thus, unfinished game, which results in these glitches. Still a favorite among many, though
