I think if you used hot hide glue then those pieces could be glued back in place. Hide glue is extremely strong when dry, and does not interfere with finishes
Glue-up tip: when I'm gluing up a segmented project on the lathe I will first turn a cone or two from soft, cheap wood. I mount it to a threaded live center on the tail stock, then use it to press and center the segmented rings as I glue on each ring. My bowls are better balanced earlier and I waste less wood. And... then I read the next comment and realized I was not the first person to use this idea! lol This was a nice project to watch, but I'm really sorry the rosewood did not turn out: such a beautiful wood.
This is the second video of yours I have watched. I'm glad to see you have stretched out things a bit and included some real time video. This is much easier to watch. there is a bit of repition you could eleminate though. Once you have shown glueing one ring we get the idea. May I suggest you get or make a large cone center for the live center. It makes centering the rings easier and more accurately. Also for vessels like these turn them in two halves. Top half and bottom half. Turn the insides first. then glue them together. Finally turn the outside. This makes hollowing much easier.
Again, thanks for the feedback. And thanks for the tip on the large cone, I can see that would be a much better solution for clamping/centering rings. I also like the idea of turning the halves separately. Now that you mention it, I saw Steve Lindsley do a vase that way.
Thank you! The vases are about 8” tall and about 6.5” at the widest part. The wood on the top ring is ebony. Finished with General Finishes arm r seal (satin)
Anyone else had a project get ruined in the final minutes?
Yeah so many times (just on last pass....crack) F**** XD
Definitely one of those moments I wished life had a "revert to last save" button...
I always remind myself when nearing the end of a project that "there is still time to screw this up"
Everyone

Thank you for the tip! I suppose after two recommendations in a row I’d better listen 🙂
I’m excited to try it!
Mike these vases are stunning and magnificent and spectacular the wood colors and the grain is awesome.
Thank you, Kobie!

Beautiful pieces! It's been a while since you've posted a video. Glad to see a new one from you.
Thanks, Tom! I should be posting more frequently this year 👍
@@mikeboehmer324 Excellent. Your videos of segmented turning inspires me to get my butt in gear and do it myself.
Awesome work. Thank you for sharing. New sub.
Thank you Michael!
Muy bonitos enhorabuena 👍🇪🇦
Muchas gracias, Andrés!
That last piece looked salvageable, hope were able to fix it
Yes it may work to turn into a bowl.
One day i'm gonna have the patience to do segmented things lol
It’s worth the extra time to build the shape, the actual turning part is bliss!
Very nice! Can you provide dimensions, finish and wood type on top?
Merry Christmas and Healthy New Year(s)).
