Been breeding them for a couple years...I stopped using water crystals and just feed them veggie scraps, apples, oranges, leafy greens, squash, etc. I leave the lid off the box to keep it dry and lay the egg crates flat. I feed them to my Chameleons and Beardie. I have thought about expanding them but they’re common around here.

You are sort of correct. Maintenance on 50 roaches would be virtually non existent. But you won't be raking in 2k a month. That would only be if you could sell the nymphs for $1 a piece. Keeping and maintaining a colony to sell 2k adults per month will cost you a butt ton in food. Not only that, but maintenance will increase exponentially for multiple colonies to support that. The info is good. One thing you are missing is buffalo/dermestid beetles to stave off mold and roach corpses.

You can mix ground roach food with oatmeal as their food source, and it's not very expensive except if you get gutloading ingredients. It'll last a good, long while.

So I bought 20 females and 10 males off Amazon for like thirty bucks, used a 7 dollar bin, drilled some holes, egg crates for 99 cents for a pack of 10 at the feed store, a under tank heater from when my baby balls were in tanks [ they are in racks now], and some plastic containers for food/ water crystals in then boom I save 30 bucks a month. What do you use for the dubia food? I started my colony a couple of months ago and i was told to give them rabbit food. I actually gave them a mix of rabiit pellets, cat food pellets, and Rat pellets (specifically the Mazuri brand rat food). The dubias seem to eat the rat pellets the fastest, then the cat food, and I dont think they eat much of the rabbit pellet. Sometimes a little fresh veg is good, but not more than they can eat in a day. Dont want mold to start. I feed Dubia roaches to my pac man frog. They are the best feeder insect with low chitin and good plump body mass.

Lobster roaches breed super fast. Buy 100 and in less than 3 months, you'll have more than you know what to do with. The protein/chitin ratio is great. Used these for my dragon and rosie redhaired desert tarantula for years. WARNING, make sure to put a 2 inch strip of petroleum jelly all around, just inside, next to the top of the container that you breed them in. Lobster roaches are one of the very few roaches that can climb even glass. The jelly works great though. :-) Regular ground dogfood for food, and, unlike crickets and some other types of roaches, like the dubui, the lobsters can swim! So a regular auto waterer will work fine.

From what I read/watched you want enough humidity so that the babies and eggs don't dry out, but too much will cause bacteria and mold. I can't remember the exact number right now but I think it's around 50-60%

The title is cute but complete BS, nobody is paying $1ea for baby dubia and 50 adults aren’t going to produce 2,000 a month. A full rack system of tubs *might* produce $2k/mo worth of dubia.
