They are great machetes , the solid plastic sheath is awesome, I just cut all the metal bits off of it. Ontario makes a dguard handle that’s very good and the gaurd keeps it in hand. I like to cover the blade with carnuba wax .

When I was in the miliary 1970-73 the Ontario Machete without the saw back was the issued machete. Later I bought and sold some Ontario Knife knives and the machete and kept 3 of the 18-inch machetes for myself. I don't know if at a later date the US military adapted the saw back ones or not. Ontario was sold to another company but, it had been a major contractor for US military knives, bayonets and the machetes.

I like the CT1, but the edge as provided is decidedly "military". I have a 2x72 and brought that apex together toward the edge without raising the bevel. Hate the square belly of the handle. Its a good tool just rough around the edges.

Agree, reprofiled my edge as well.
For the price i think its not to bad, especially since its made in the Us.

@@olg.__ i presonally don´t like them as much, since you swing a machete, rather than hammergrip it, which can cause more hotspots at the guard. in the end it´s personal preference though.

In your opinion, what is the best machete in terms of resistance and cutting, being it a fulltang with a saw and a good handle?

With a sawback you don´t really have a lot of options. Cold Steel, Ontario that´s it, from wich i would go with Ontario. Sogs, Gerber machetes are garbage. Unless you go thicker, Tops Steel Eagle 111 looks pretty good. A lot more options when it comes to Machetes without saws. Condor makes tons of them. Peace

@@megaronknives3032 Have you ever used the Sogfari 18" machete? Between Sog and Ontario which has the better quality? I don't understand, the Condor is the best among all without mountains?

have never used the Sogfari, but Sog machetes are usually really cheap and bad. would go with Ontraio personally.

No i think they are even a little step up in quality and you get a sheath with them, which is not the Case with Ontario. Little bit more expensive though. @@gustavobontorin2243
