I played Splatoon 2 but never really paid attention to the meta or seriously trying to improve, I got to S in a few modes and just kinda fell off the game. With 3 I actually started focusing on improving my mechanics and game sense, started playing X this season and compared to how I was playing even just earlier in 3, I've definitely become more consistent with my performance. I actually wanted to try playing with a team but didn't really know where to look + feeling not good enough yet, so ty for the resource recommendations, gonna check them out
0:46 as someone who started splatoon 2 in 2019 with stick controls, i played splatoon 1 on my wii u for the past 2 weeks and it locked me into motion controls + made me WAY better at the game after making my friend play the first game with me i've tried motion controls VARIOUS times years ago in splatoon 2 and even once in splatoon 3, but it turns out that the wii u gamepad is just PERFECT for learning them if you have a wii u, i'd recommend playing splatoon 1's entire hero mode and some battles with others with motion controls! it feels really good and you'll learn them quickly! NOTE: official servers for splatoon 1 have been down since march 3rd, so you must use homebrewed servers to play online right now. i am not responsible for any risks caused by an attempt at this.
Well i kinda got my knowledge at first from people who showed me the game but i didnt really improve and kinda brute forced my way to S+. Kinda started to learn at this point but im still really bad at the game bc i tried to play series and x battles and got rekted hard. Proof here is that i was at -5k in ranked dept and only averaging at 1600 x power throughout all modes. Thats why i watch youtube guides and try to learn the game (game sense, aiming, proper mental, etc). But recently i only play open since its more chill. Only thing i really like atm is Salmon Run. I like the grind but its tedious af bc im aiming at those 999 badges which took me 14 hours each time to get on 2 stages so far. Took me even longer previously but i failed. Oddly enough tho this mode helped me improve a lot bc of improving ur decision making and chaos management. xD. Either way splatoon has an incredibly high skill ceiling so u never stop learning. Good luck to everyone in achieving their goals. U can do it.
Im a S1 “veteran”(really only played turf lol) and i got really good in S2 then dropped the game a little before S3’s release. When S3 dropped, i had little struggle in solo que but due to some personal issues I haven’t actually improved. When things get sorted out over here, i think I’ll see much better results and i will definitely try to play in some tournaments for once
I can definitely vouch for using motion controls, when I first got my Wii U & Splatoon back in November 2015, I was freaked by the motion controls like they were so uncomfortable for me but I didn't know how to turn them off so I played using them & I got so use to it that it was natural & comfortable for me, I don't even think about it when playing since it's so natural. Funny story regarding motion controls, when it was getting closer to the release of Splatoon 2, I invited some friends over to my place. One friend got me to play Splatoon in the first place & she's good at it, the other friend is a mutual friend of ours we met through a local group, we had known each other for years at this point. He wanted to play Splatoon 2 when it came out so I thought I'd teach him how to play using the first game & he did NOT like the motion controls, he was struggling so much using them & my friend turned them off for him, she turns them off when she plays as rollers but she mains the ink brush. She recommended he try a roller & see how it was done. He was still struggling & I feel I should of let her show him because I had experience with the Carbon Roller but not as much with the Krak-On which is what she selected for him to play, not only that but I learned I NEEDED the motion controls, I was such a mess not having them & I sucked worse than my friend did even though I was the one trying to teach him. I ended up turning the motion controls back on for me to use & it was night & day, I performed so much better but I'm use to them so that explains why they worked out for me. When the third game came out, it was probably days after the release, I get a message from my friend asking me how I use motion controls with the game, I guess he went through playing 2 without them which is surprising, I thought at one point he would of realized it was easier with them on during that game's run. He wanted to perform better in 3 & heard that he needs to use motion controls & I'm so brain dead when I use them since I just go into autopilot with them, I didn't know how to describe it. It's just something you have to get use to which doesn't just suddenly happen, takes a little time. Best thing I can say is just play with motion controls on & don't think about it, just do.
I was a dedicated stick control player for ages and i refused to even try motion but a few months ago I tried it and my gameplay has improved drastically, it only took a day or so to get used to them as well
I like motion controls and i really do but i literally cant keep my hands at the same height the entire time. I feel pretty ok about everything beside that
Splatoon is rigged. Fun game, but it's rigged. Was gonna buy another Nintendo controller, but not worth it anymore. Not with the shit matchmaking, and sr having a harder difficulty on me even though I know people who aren't as good yet have greater success.
I think tip 2 was probably the most important at least for me that is, for example: I became a slosher player after playing it a few times mine you I had been a dualie squelchers one trick and had gotten myself in S+6 in splatoon 2, but sloshers are the reason for X. Great video Gus!
Thank you for sharing the wisdom you have accumulated over the years, O wise one.
You are soooo welcome young grasshopper.

Sooo im X rank but im still not happy because I wanna join a team. Problem?
I cant VC
What do think about playing with split joycons and motion controls?
If that works for you, and you perform well, go for it
Ngl i use a combination of stick and motion like for chargers and blasters i use motion for shooter etc i use stick
Using stick/motion is basically motion :) Using motion doesn’t mean you don’t use your sticks at all.
Your taste in music is great
Thanks dude! I always make sure to pick cool music for y’all to listen to!
Honestly the problem I have with this game is that while I'm practicing to improve, I'm letting my team down with my shoddy play :/
I can't because I have Nintendo switch light 😢
I have 1 🌟 with every weapon beside snipers😁
nice video :)
I still think that the only reason people are good at this game is they're born with talent. I have no talent.
Kiver should be added btw
On it! & done!
how dare you call undercover a noob weapon in the thumbnail 😠
I’m still a noob with Tri-Slosher 😅

Super happy to hear that. You have joined the best weapon class group 😇
Bucket is the best
not me in x rank with the "noob" kit from the thumbnail 🫣
Don’t worry. We are all noobs at the end of the day 👍🏽
