In the level Conserve Ink - Splat Sustainably, if you go through the level without firing one shot or killing any enemy, one of the squid sisters will relay a message from the captain commenting on that achievement.
What is it?

I got that because it's easier to not kill anyone

I found it to be a fun challenge with a little reward for you
idk if it's considered a secret but if you go to the canyon and check cuttlefish's shack you can actually change how the captain looks
If you have data from Octo Expansion then the Captain will be what you picked then, and you still change it
This helped so much
How do you do that?
To sync old save data when you first boot up the game it asks you if you want to transfer.
To pick the captain after the recruiting cutscene go inside the tent and you will see a crude drawing of the captain after some dialog you can change it there.
I thought you meant cuttlefish for a second and I was so confused… guess I played splatfest too long lol
I think a detail that i see many have missed is that in the fight with Dj.Octavio it is stated that he is not using the power of the zapfish, and in fact, while the other iterations of the mecha Dj.Octavio pilots use ink propulsion to fly around, this one mecha uses rockets instead, that makes me think that he is actually using fosil fuel this time around to power his machines.
That also gave him less items in his arsenal than we're used to in the first 2 games, not to mention WAY LESS DECORATION and display panel. Also, that bot has octopus-accurate eyes and his beak-like ink vac. Octavio is the one broadcasting the calamari inkantation 3MIX (which includes obviously the squid sisters base, his DJ SFX, and Deep Cut's style) while also using a different ink vac which basically is the giant version of the same name special with the exact 4 levels of "load" (and allows us to hyper beam Grizz in a similar fashion to what Pearl did against Tartar)

If you have Color Lock on and you go to Frye's boss fight, you'll fight a Blue version of Frye.

Something that no one seems to notice is that in the final fight in the campaign, when calamari inkantation plays u can actually hear little buddy singing in the background in some parts, so him singing earlier in the game is actually foreshadowing.
So it wasn't Big Man who was singing

There's one that idk if you've covered yet deep cut waving at the player changes as you progress story mode if you've made no progress they won't pay attention to you, while making some progress they'll notice and just do a small wave,but if you go to the studio after beating the hero mode they'll regonize you as agent 3,

actually they notice you regardless of whether you've started the story mode or not, but after you've finished it they'll do the special wave, similar to off the hook in splatoon 2 before and after beating oe
i went up to the glass as soon as i got the game and they waved even though i never stepped foot in story mode. but they did in fact wave differently after story mode
Quick thing I want to mention is that if you transfered data from splatoon 2, the captain aka old agent 3 is the same style you made with cuttlefish in the octo expansion! They really thought of everything!
Didn't work for me yet I had both splatoon 2 and octo expansion
@@cbrauts707 you can change the design with a book in the tent in the story mode crater. If you've already beat the story, you can get there by talking to the zap fish doll
That was one thing I did notice since I remembered giving a specific eye-color and the exact color (and obviously same gender) was given to captain

Figuring this out with friends was mind blowing. It’s such a great touch on Nintendo’s part.
O.R.C.A. may also be a reference to an early version of the GameCube, codenamed Dolphin. Its dialogue icon is very similar to the image Nintendo used for their dev kits and prototype cartridges.

@@LoraLoibu yeah, Dolphin Emulator was made as a GameCube Emulator, and named after the codename for the GameCube
it supports Wii because the architecture between the Wii and the GameCube is near identical, so it was relatively easy to make an update to add support for the Wii
You know what, I thought I recognized that! But not the prototype GameCube. Instead, on the Big Blue stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl
This isn't really a "easter egg", at least not intentionally, but something I find incredibly cool is one of the voice bytes to Shiver sounds eerily like the phrase "Uendo Toneido" (You can hear it every time they say "repping the splat lands, we are DEEP CUT!).
What makes this so fun to me is that Uendo Toneido is the name of a character from Ace Attorney, a RAKUGO artist. Their defining feature is the fans in their hair and the many mats they sit on. Shiver is so themed after rakugo (the fan, little wooden desk, broadcast setup, and mats are actually all drawing from that) that it's very interesting that this coincidence happened!
Frye gets to swear while Shiver references another rakugo artist, fun!

On the left side of Hammerhead Bridge, you could see the statue you fight at the end of the Octo Expansion.
Side note: If you can somehow manage to enter any other level besides the first one before meeting ORCA for the first time the boot up sequence still happens.
In Hotlantis, you can see Melody playing with an Ultra Hand, which was one of the toys that Nintendo released in the 60s before they became a video game company.

Frye and Shiver have different interactions with you depending on if or if not you have finished the story!
2:53 I think one detail a lot of people miss or don't talk about with li'l jud is that he also uses a salmonids deck in table top turf war AND he has Grizz Co card backs/sleeves. I think it's pretty clear whos in charge now.

If you beat the story mode, interacting with deep cut will have different reactions. Not beating it will have a little interaction and beating it will give a huge reaction. It's easy to tell as frye will have a big wave!

To add to the Lil Judd running Grizzco theory, in Tableturf, all the non-jellyfish characters have their own sleeves, and Lil’ Judd’s features a color scheme suspiciously like Grizzco’s in addition to having a pattern featuring the salmon neon sign. His deck is also made up almost entirely of Salmonid and even has the Mr. Grizz card.
About lil Jud taking over Grizco, if you want even more conformation of that theory you should chalange him in table turf

Missed to mentiom that the O.R.C.A. startup sound is followed by the exact fax sound that the fax of the splatfest themes does
The first one, it was a hacker that used a code to spam specials, oatmeal dome tweeted about it. The clip was also in replay mode, so they weren’t the hacker.
If you go back to the crater and you go to cuttlefish's work space you can change captain agent 3's look instead of having it the way it is in octo expansion
You see that glitch that lets you clip out of bounds in the main hub? During a Splatfest, you can even jump aboard the idols' flying boat things.
Remind me when the next Splatfest starts so I can fill up my Switch memory with pics of me and Big Man
In The Path To Perfect Penmanship, when you complete the stage, you can go a bit past the goal and see that you basically just speedran a Smallfry drawing!
I feel like Lil Judd is now the match-decider in Inkopolis. Thats why he has headphones, because hes so small nobody can probably hear him.

I have a secret: When you open the sunken scrolls and go through them from left to right you can see art like in a flip book on the back of the pages on the bottom left. Wow that's a long sentence xD
It's been in the sunken scrolls of the previous games too! Glad they brought it back :^)

One thing to note, in the Table Turf, Lil' Judd uses a Salmonoid Themed deck, and that with the fact he has a mic after beating story mode, i'm very convinced he runs salmon run now, tho i saw on the splatoon wiki Mr. Grizz might be using prerecorded messages and automatic AI to deliver instructions, or maybe lil judd using a voice filter or similar
I believe Grizz's voice is all prerecorded, but Lil Judd is probably now controlling stuff like the helicopter's orders, and where needed force playing dialogue of Grizz for situations
If you walk around the plaza after Splatfest ends but before they announce the results, there are piles of trash bags/boxes all around the plaza as well as a few scissor lifts and other signs that there are crews working to clean up after Splatfest.
even after the story mode, salmoids are still evil, so it makes sense that you’d still fight them

Just a wholesome moment, I remember vibin and sea-bagging with all of the players in a lobby once, and we all vibed during a game, without inking a single bit of turf, but unfortunately, one guy surprised attacked us, which let them win in the end, but aside from them, everyone was chill
Also you forgot to mention that big man's boss is actually from super mario sunshine if other people didn't know.

Its cool how they had to do a little easter egg of it, But I'm starting to think mario and splatoon are in the same universe, with bigmans relatives fighting mario in super mario sunshine, and them being electric, and bigman being the weakest, But not weak as he can't electrocute.

Another fact about O.R.C.A, during the startup process he makes the same sound as the splatfest fax machine after the Wii U sound.
not sure if its a secret but after the story and you go back to the story hub you can see the captain do a voiceless booyah ping and it cracks me up
that was my favorite part of the game by far
A funny little funny glitch is if you jump between two kettles on area 6 of story mode (I believe 7 to 8) you will actually clip/squid jump through one of the largest buildings!

So I think what happened with the rental missiles is the game kept filling the special gauge for the turf that the missiles were inking, which isn't supposed to be able to happen but I think that's kinda funny
The clam from clam blitz in hotlantis costs 8888 coins since you now need 8 clams to make the football in clam blitz

A little Easter egg is that before beating the story mode, the deep cut waving at you is less expressive, but after you beat it, they are more expressive, mostly seen by Frye.
In Salmon Run, according to the lore, everything that the radio (statue) of Mr. Grizz says is all a recording, so everything Mr. Grizz says during Salmon Run is all pre recorded messages that were made during Splatoon 2. Just thought people should know that...
With orca, not only does it have the wiiu sound, it also makes a noise that sounds like the fax machine that gives us the splatfests. You can even hear a tiny bit of it at 6:12 just after the wiiu sound
if you walk to every spot of each section in alterna for each section marie will give you a part of a map for your locker
You don't need to ink it all, just walk to every spot

When standing outside the entrance to the first level of the rocket island, the creepy boss sounds from 1 & 2 will play after a while. I have video evidence on my channel.
Fun fact : the deepcut members waves at you differently after you completed the campaign. at 3:51,we can see the post campaign waving

Fun lil thing about the holograms in the lobbies, they’re flat. Like yeah obviously they aren’t 3D models, but if you go next to one and move the camera so you’re looking straight at the ground they look super weird and squished, especially when looking at people in swim form- it looks super off

I think the reason we are still fighting salmonids are because lil judd possibly heard about mr grizzs defeat and how golden eggs can be used to power stuff. So, he might be using golden eggs along with power eggs to power splatsville and possibly inkopolis
Hearing the wiiu boot up sound brung me tons of nostalgia
I feel like the curved nature of the Switch in the Lobby is a reference to when the Switch first released, along with Breath of the Wild. A lot of people pre-ordered a special edition Switch case and other things bundled with the game, but some weeks/months later, people began reporting that the BotW Switch case had bent their consoles out of shape, making it harder to dock.
Idk if this was covered in splatoon 2 facts, but the car in Sr have the same sound as one of the song in story mode in splatoon 1.
Nothing too significant, but if you throw little buddy right before touching the goal in a level, you'll see your backpack jiggle on the clear screen as little buddy hops back in.

Small detail: once you beat story mode deep cut goes to wavering at you normally to waving at you very happily because youre agent 3 and they know you
When you load Splatoon 3 for the first time, it plays the drums that play during the startup of Splatoon 1.
I've said it before but whatever: The Octobot King Mech gives off sonic 3 & knuckles doomsday vibes with the whole thing transforming from rocket/ship to a Mech.
This might be an obvious one, but if you keep talking to Judd from time to time, he'll run you through little tutorials of each different sub and special weapons.
You can hear the fax machine as well when Orca boots up

I think the two details that surprised me the most was the splat news one and the house hologram projector. Also am I the only one that notices that after the hero mode credits play, and you are back to the first island. When you look at the spot of where it used to be, there is another one, but blue this time.

there's a projector on the very top of the building, 3 in the locker room, one in the little cafe area, and one above Judd in that little chill corner
Plot twist: Lil Judd was cloned using cells from both Judd and Grizz, and OG Grizz was the one who clone him.
I bet that part of what was going on with reloading tenta missiles was that the missiles kept scoring enough points to recharge the special, creating an endless cycle.
Or they were hacking/glitching the game. One of the two.
I think it might be grizz still as you said he was still alive so he might be still collecting golden salmon eggs for something else
There's actually a dialogue with Callie kinda saying that she's in charge now with agent 1 & 3
It’s actually Lil’ Judd! His fur changed color in splatoon 3, and after you beat story mode, he has a mic with them

In the main lobby if you Zipcast onto the border then when it runs out you can see out of bounds during the super jump back to where you started.
When you relive memories, or you start story mode, if you interact with Cuttlefish's little tent, you'll see a likeness of Agent 3. He'll ask if it's good, and say no. Then you can change Captain Agent 3's gender and eye color.
