    Hi John!
    Thank you for this video.
    I have a Surface Pro 7 and I'm looking for the latest Surface Pen model.
    Is this model, released in June 2017, the latest or is there a newer model?
    Which is the model and the part number of the platinum color?

    Thank you for the video. I'm wondering how much of a noticeable difference you found with the new pen? Just doing calculus work I notice the latency on my Surface Book pen. I'm a gamer so lag is my arch nemesis. Think it's worth purchasing the new pen?

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This pen has way less latency than the previous. I have tested on many apps and have to say pretty much 0 latency from my point of view. I'm no gamer but I also find latency an issue, especially with illustration work and cutouts etc.

      Touch Technology Review Yeah, you would definitely notice it since drawing is cringeworthy to me. Just doodling angers me to be honest. I will check it out. Thanks for the response.

    Would be nice if you could have demo on web sites and word docs with the pen. Thanks though for the review. Do you think the pen would still be beneficial for non artists? I just want to use it for day to day use and I'm not an artist by any mean.

      It could also be that Illustrator uses more resources than other applications. That may be the issue with the noticeable lag

    Why oh why will they not add a second button for middle mouse. There are tons of 3D artist like myself who use this for Zbrush or 3D Coat for which he Bamboo Ink is pretty damn good but the nib is just no where near as nice as the Surface (which feels far less like drawing with a ballpoint pen on glass and more like a marker on paper).

    Do you think the tilt effect would come out as it is shown on your new surface pro, i mean if i use it on my SP4

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it does. You should get all the benefits of it, like the increased amount of pressure sensitivity levels and tilt feature. You may have to update your windows software and or firmware to ensure full compatibility.

    Question for the Microsoft pen does it just work on the Microsoft Surface what if you’re running Windows 10 on a regular computer monitor will it work??

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely not, it is designed to work with the surface. However I have heard that it uses a Wacom digitizer so may work with other devices using Wacom technology. However there certainly is no official support for it on other devices.

      It's the new one and the current model, released in 2017. I believe that it will work with the surface book however I have heard that you don't get the full 4,096 pressure sensitivity which was one of the enhancements of the new pen.

      I can't be certain of that. The Surface Pen uses active technology that connects via bluetooth so it may not work with other tablets or computers. Microsoft only state that it is compatible with their own Surface line of products. So if you want to check I would suggest you bring your laptop into a store and give it a test.....

    does new pen tilt and pressure work same on older suface pro 4 ?

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to Microsoft specs, the new Surface Pen works with Surface 3, Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4, Surface Book, Surface Studio and Surface Laptop. The new Surface Pro was the first Surface to enable 4096 levels of Pressure Sensitivity and Pen Tilt as this was built into the screen itself I think the new pen was designed to work in conjunction with the new screen, so although the pen will work it may not take advantage of the tilt and pressure in the same way. You may need to check with Microsoft support if you want 100% clarification though. Anyone else viewing this thread please feel free to contribute your experience with older surface models.......

    The reviewer does not touch the screen while writing. Unfortunately, there is a SERIOUS BUG affecting all Surface pros with Surface Pen when the hand is resting on the screen. The ink starts to jump erratically every now and then, making it impossible to write or draw properly. This issue has been reported by more than 2000 people (just search for "intermittent pen inaccuracy"). Do not buy the Surface Pen with the Surface Pro, unless you plan to use it with an artist's glove or are able to write without touching the screen.

    The surface pen ( pro 4) is the worst I know, I have used a Samsung android tablet with s pen (2016) for years and the resulting writing is exactly my handwriting, but today I received my surface pro 4 and the writing is disgusting, it loses all its expressiveness, softening the letter until it is ILLIGABLE. The writing is incomprehensible, whoever uses it, most likely, will be very disappointed. There is no way to solve that, I have seen several videos and in all the ones that show "writing", it is exactly the same. The surface pen provides everyone who uses it with the same stylized handwriting that can barely be understood. I bought the surface so I can use Word and my dictation program, but I've lost taking notes. A shame.

      there simply things that you can't achieve by pen and paper. Like, how would you add a video/audio recording to your notes?
      On top of that, digital note taking/drawing is simply a lot more convenient, easier to organize, faster to search. and you can easily change the background to black and write with white texts, which is really hard to find for pen and paper or having different backgrounds for different sections.
      It's not just more convenient, it's better.
