You just enjoy the hanging of that "quality" on him because of your disfavorable opinion of him or his behavior. Are there times he might be rightly considered "superficially confrontational? It's possible but an argument needs to be made. I, (and many other fans) being less speedy to condemn him think there is possibly fairer way to present him. Now I doubt I have swayed your opinion a tiny iota... But that is all right. We are all villains in some stories & villains in others. In case you missed it, in closing, I find it an overly harsh & possibly careless criticism. (& While I am a RVJ fan I do agree with the assertion that he has a fragile ego)

Really great job putting this video together! Rob has ridiculous genetics, I'd really like to watch him reach his full potential. If he can stay in the right place mentally, he can still give a lot of people at the top trouble.
RVJ was seriously good when he was frequently competing in WAL. He has crazy good genetics for armwrestling especially at 200lbs which was his weight class and regular walk around weight back then.
No he wasnt its just competition in US is so weak compared to Europe it made him look extra good in the US, as soon he came to Europe he starts to be whooped left and right.
Alexey was the first puller I followed closely. Him joining the sport of bobsledding and winning a silver so quickly just goes to show the man had unmatched talent to dominate in any passion he had.

It's clear that RVJ has the potential to be one of the greats in our sport, but it appears the man has some demons of his own to defeat before he can step back into the light. It looks like he's trying to move forward on past reputation alone, meanwhile the demons that hold him back are over in the corner doing push-ups, just waiting for the bravado and false facade to fall. I like the dude, and I wish him well. Great video mate, nice work on not only focusing on the recent decline, putting the big picture out there and not just a small part of it.

I met Rob in 2004 in Oct at the Fall Classic in CT. He came down to train with us a bunch and got better rapidly. In 08 we pulled at Nationals and he always supported our events (the one where he pulled Sylvain). Kudos to Rob for staying drug free and strong.
He was one of my favorite armwrestlers for a long time. Now he won't pull anyone that's not "natural" and won't travel and compete, but still talks. I think his ego is fragile as well and is afraid of losing. Especially to someone who is "enhanced".
While I get his viewpoint, and am a natural lifter who has never considered taking anything, PED's have been a part of sports since the mid 1950's - the horse already got out of the corral, so closing the gate behind it won't do any good.
@Sean Phillips I agree with you. I think it's either compete naturally against enhanced people and beat them that way, stop talking, or fight fire with fire. But he's not doing any of those. Just complaining about everyone using ped's and sitting home saying he could beat everyone who's natural lmao.
I'm sure if you focused on content, you could create wonderful things. Although I wouldn't underestimate your current contributions and involvedness in the sport.

Anxiety sucks... I know from first hand experience. Had attacks since 17 and while drinking can help alleviate the problem temporarily it can make your anxiety far worse the next day. It becomes a vicious cycle. Drinking is no good for anybody. I quit drinking a month ago because I'm trying to lose weight.
Glad you liked it. I tried to be fair in my assessment of RVJ and show that he is a great armwrestler but a human like all of us, flaws included. It just makes me root for his return to glory more.
I am FAR from expert BUT if RVJ could work, closely, with Janis for six months he could make big leaps forward. I personally love him, warts & all & hope good things for him.
Booze can be an every effect short term treatment for chronic anxiety. Even doctors will admit that. The problem with alcohol is, as with almost every drug, the side effects eventually end up being the new problem. I found out the hard way, and hopefully Rob is doing ok now. I do watch his videos on TH-cam and he’s a refreshing personality in an atmosphere of robotic, formulaic video content producers who regurgitate the same bullshit in the same format. I share his views on the growth of the sport, and how PEDs fit (or don’t fit) into it.
There's a massive amount of context missing in his match with Sasho: Leading up to the match, Sasho's passport got cancelled due to a vaxx situation and the match was called off. Upon receiving the news Rob stopped training. But Sasho kept his training going because he had WAF coming up later and would have gotten his passport by that time. Some time later Bulgaria changed their laws and Sasho got his passport back much earlier than anticipated. He immediately contacted Neil and Neil contacted Rob, saying that the match could be green lit once again. But unfortunately the time limit was only 5 weeks(the match was initially set 4 months in advance). Substract 1 week of rest and Rob only had 4 weeks on his hands to train and face a world class puller. He didn't want to turn Neil down and accepted the match on very bad terms. The result is what it is as we all know but it was far from Rob's best form.
Sasho also was suffering from a pec tear at the time (part of the reason he didn't pull right-handed at WAF or Europeans that year), not to the point that he couldn't pull, but he wasn't full power either. I think fully trained Rob would be just as brutalized by Sasho, partly because Sasho is a terrible matchup for him. Also, most athletes don't stop training just because they don't have a match. They might not be peaking, but they still train.

I don't think there has ever been a more genetically blessed AW in history. This guy is natty and looks like hes on his Nth cycle. Unlike oleg zogh whose only genetic gift is his huge arm/hand RvJ is generally gifted esp on the strength department. I dunno, i like the guy he seems to be a no vs type of dude
Maybe gifted on the hand strength compartment but never exploded that coordination and stiffness than other elite strength armwrestlers of his weight have.
I just wish he jump on the juice and gave all the elites of the world a run for their money I mean if you got so much potential why wasted you only live once. You already made your point about the natty stuff!

That booze allows the real RVJ to be seen & heard. And seeing him act during these arm events reveals more substances fueling those insecurities.
Alcohol abuse is a symptom to anxiety. It both alleviates and exaggerates it. It's horrible.
Probably confusing the chicken and the egg. I know people who have anxiety problems who drink a lot as an escape from it.

He didn't want to turn Neil down and accepted the match on very bad terms. The result is what it is as we all know but it was far from Rob's best form.
Sasho also was suffering from a pec tear at the time (part of the reason he didn't pull right-handed at WAF or Europeans that year), not to the point that he couldn't pull, but he wasn't full power either. I think fully trained Rob would be just as brutalized by Sasho, partly because Sasho is a terrible matchup for him.
Also, most athletes don't stop training just because they don't have a match. They might not be peaking, but they still train.

I don't think there has ever been a more genetically blessed AW in history. This guy is natty and looks like hes on his Nth cycle. Unlike oleg zogh whose only genetic gift is his huge arm/hand RvJ is generally gifted esp on the strength department. I dunno, i like the guy he seems to be a no vs type of dude
