Also a fan of & owner of the ashley bk of knots. I found a knot almost identical to this knot called the jansek special same knot but tag goes through the 2 loops 3 times instead of 2. Ive never had it fail. When tied right it looks like a fist & the tag sticks out from main at a 90 degree angle. Fail proof knot. 100 % line strength knot.
loved this video as much as the Crimping Aboard the Royal Star video! That crimp video is what landed me a 211# blue-fin! plan on using this knot in the future!
This knot can be referenced in the Ashley Book of Knots as ABoK #1843 which Ashley gives credit to the anonymous author of the 1904 publication "Handbook of Boat Sailing"
Couldn’t visualize John’s step-by-steps while listening to the show. This is too damn easy. I can tie this knot now behind my back... with my eyes closed!
Love the way the videographer gets the great shots of John’s hands at the most critical portion of the tie.
I agree I couldn’t see what was going on behind John’s hand when he was going between both lines !!!

I learned this knot from Mr Collins himself. It’s the only knot I ever use. Simple, clean, and strong as fuck.

Much easier than San Diego jam
quite possibly the worst camera angle ever
