I think I agree overall. I think it is really important to learn get used to the gloves on but one more point for not using the gloves is that you can see your knuckle alignment better so you ultimately punch with cleaner strikes instead of just smacking them with your gloves.

I want to be able to see my hands because my angles get sloppy when I get tired, so gloves off. Sometimes Ill hold 1lb weights, but not really anymore. Im also just some guy moving around while his son takes a nap, not a fighter.

What do you guys prefer and why?
Gloves on or off during shadow boxing?

Can you make a video on bag gloves? My coach says they are cheaper and good for keeping your wrist straight but wouldn't you want the ounces when doing bag work to increase hand speed? The twin bag glove he uses seems like an old school thai glove. Also wouldn't the extra padding help with longevity of your joints?

@@dontblink3042 It makes you feel impact so you correct your bad technique more. Ehich is why the wrist hurts. Also knuckles get harder that way. The risk is obvious however.

Yo Gabriel, hope you read my comment
I've been a fighter for 5 years now and been dealing with depression for some months now (I'm doing much better now tho), and I've been thinking about this question: How can martial arts help someone deal with depression (Athlete or not)? I'm throwing this suggestion here because I got kinda curious to see how a high level fighter would think about this issue. Anyways, good to see another video of yours, good luck for the future!

As a athlete and my humble opinion
martial arts helps tremendously dealing with depression.
For me i remember coming to the gym all down and not feeling the best
Tho once I wrap my hand wraps and hit the mitts
My mood gradually improves before I even know it!!!
Running helps alot for me whenever I'm feeling down or frustrated
It's Almost like a personal drug you can't help but to keep on taking!!!
So personally when it comes to martial arts dealing with depression.
      Test it for yourself!!!
Take a class in whatever you feel that's best for you and
Or simple go out for a jog.
      The results speak for themselves!!!

One thing I've found is, depression will come at any point you let it. In simple terms, the more positive things I do in a day, the better I feel about my day. As if my actions are a counterargument to any thoughts that make me feel useless.

I used to shadow box with 20oz gloves on and I found it really slowed down my hand speed and also reduced my power. I found it interfered with the mechanics of my punches compared to when I hit the bag. However, I do think its good for training rotational strength.

Is it not important to know what it feels like to miss with gloves on? If your opponent dips a punch, you have to pull 16oz back to your face quickly. how else do you achieve that muscle memory? on the heavy bag you make impact every time and its a lot less tiring to pull back a shot that you hit.

      @Docinaplane 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@shankshernandez2348 That's an amazing goal. If possible, train MMA from the beginning if you have a school like that you can go to. IMO that's better than taking different fighting arts at the same time. The goal is to be proficient in three areas. Striking, Wrestling, and Grappling (like BJJ) and blending them together. You can do this best if they are all at the same place. If you can't do that, then pick the one you like best and train that in the beginning, then add the others as you feel you are able to. Good luck on your journey!
