Love the advice about the small angles, because that's something most of us don't know about due to the fact that we'll never be in an actual ring or cage. Thanks, man.
I’m in the ring in 6 weeks time, and I’m certainly glad to have picked up yet another amazing Gabriel Varga pro tip. 👏 Plus, our gym is tiny atm, and movement becomes quite challenging when we have 20-30 members all going at it 🙏
This channel is quickly becoming the best fight channel on TH-cam. Thank you SO much for the free content, it's made me a much better fighter and given me more efficient training sessions! Hope to see you in the ring soon. Also, video idea. Breakdown fight scenes from your favorite martial arts movies!!
Completely agree with what you said. There are other very very good ‘tips for fighters’ channels, but this one just has so much more authenticity imo , and Gabriel deserves way more subscribers. I STILL have absolutely no clue why you always seem to grab behind the neck every time you clinch though. No disrespect intended Gabriel...I wouldn’t last 15 seconds in the ring with you. Could u pleeeease explain? I’m perfectly okay with you calling me an irritating @%. I just want to know, because it’s really puzzling me now. 🤷♂️🙏
Oh, and that ‘martial arts expert breaking down favourite fight scenes’ thing has been done a LOT on other channels already. 🤷♂️ Would definitely be cool to get Gabriel’s take/reactions tho...especially if we got to vote on ones he’s never seen before. 🙂
I just basically thumbs-up every single video now, before I’ve even watched them. Best advice, tips, explanations and purity of the martial arts that I’ve ever seen. No other professional comes close...not even the legend Bas Rutten. Let’s get this man to 1 million plus subscribers, like he deserves ffs. 🙏🙏🙏
I don't train at a gym anymore and haven't trained in a while but I've set up an at home gym, with a heavy bag and other stuff, I watch your videos after work everyday and do the work, my punches are getting real crisp, thank you
What a great video. I've been stumped for a while about not having enough room to move around the bag. Using small movements solves the problem. Thanks. Now I can quit wasting time conjuring up ideas for making a heavy bag "cage". My trusty ol' Everlast heavy bag stand will do just fine.
Your channel should be bigger because, damn! you're teaching and giving more great quality information in one episode than other channels give in three or four.
Thanks for the tips man. I have been working the heavy bags in class for the past 6 weeks. Some of the tips are things I am already doing, but I need to work on coming in and out.
Remembering good head movement before and after you throw (every time), is the tricky bit for me atm. I find it’s surprisingly tiring too...probably why even good fighters aren’t always doing it. 🤷♂️ Feels like it’s all coming together now though. 💪🙏
Thanks for the video, do you think the quality of the bag is meaningful? My gym only has these light bags filled with water that rest on the floor instead of heavy bags hanging from the ceiling
I am huge fan of your fight career and TH-cam channel. But this is what you need to do with your channel. An actual instructional with a bag or in a gym... and to make it better... have a partner you can do demonstrations with. Been waiting for you to up your TH-cam game in terms of production because I think you are a great teacher/coach as much as you are a fighter
In the rare times create lots of swinging motion on the bag I do like to stop it but since I mostly train at home I also use it so practice stepping in with my punches and closing distance with proper footwork and exiting when it swings at me along with cutting angles around the bag. This helps me get used to always sticking then moving with proper footwork and chasing without falling into my punches. Could just be me. But I hope this comment helps someone practice these certain things and hope it works for you. Ps. I primarily box with some light round kicks and front kicks and also train in a much small less open area having to work with less room to do foot work
When you are taking those sidesteps to get those angles, are you pushing off of your opposite leg of the direction you are going in as orthodox stance? For example if you want to go right, you are stepping with the right first first, BUT pushing off initially with the left leg using the hip flexors? Curious about these details for efficiency sake. As a recommendation, I was wondering if it would also be possible to post a short video sometime in the near future about "tips for orthodox fighters vs/against southpaw fighters" , such as favorable positioning, foot placement, etc. Once again, thank you for your amazing guidance and advice. Best youtube sensei ever.
This was very helpful, thank you. What is your opinion on beginners doing solo bag workouts? Good idea or bad because you have no one to correct mistakes?
I kind of injured my elbows doing bagwork. Any tips on avoiding this in the future as well as training around the injury? I was throwing Superman Punches to the bag when it started
These are the kind of tips I dont see a lot of coaches giving to their students, at every gym ive trained a lot of people are just standing still hitting the bag full power, just the one tip about not letting the bag move a lot, this is how I usually train on the heavy bag and dont like to throw every punch with full power, learn how to conserve your energy, throw all of uve got when needed and get creative with combos, this will also develop your fight iq instead of just being a needlessly agressive meathead with little to work with
Who's excited for some follow along bag work episodes?
Me man, i was waiting those so bad🔥🔥

Hey Gabriel,

You tell that bag Gabriel. Stop means stop
Great information, truly appreciate it. Question where can I get A heavy bag such as the one that you are using in the video.
Mind doing a video on conditioning your core to take body shots better? Thank you for all your content.
I have the same haircut as you, did you cut your own hair too?

Always get a coach no matter what. I suggest doing both tbh. Especially if training isnt every day rather 3 days or some what is common.
