There are theories that his mother was part succubus. It'd explain why he is physically built different than most imps, crossbreeds are rare but exist. I love how Danny exclaimed "I wanna hear a JOKE" presumably right before the "Well how was I supposed to know you can spell?" bit that always cracks me up
Owls imprint on the first thing they see. Stolas seems to have been cared for mostly by imps, and with Blitz being the first person he knew as a friend, it's no shock he is so attached.
Ooh that's clever, and also ties well into him being interested in the games that imp children play, as well as the general classism thing Stolas struggles with. He thinks he sees them as equals because he doesn't see them as different than him, but because imps were naturally in positions of servitude to Stolas, he grew to expect that behavior of them, all while still believing they were equals. Then as an adult it starts to finally click that this is not how equals treat each other. His needs aren't the only ones that matter.
For Owl in a Cage, the singer was actually crying as he sang (omfg I can't recall his name). He made everyone else in the studio cry too. Such a good song.

I love the comparisons between the scene of Fizz coming in to "save" Blitzos balloon act, turning the spotlight on himself to help Blitzo, and the scene in Ozzies when Blitzø turns the spotlight on himself to help Moxxie. Fizz was there to bail Blitzo out as a kid, but then Blitzø had to save his friend from Fizz at Ozzies. In both cases, Blitzø ended up the butt of the joke. As kids and as adults, Stolas was supportive of Blitzø, enjoying his act and then becoming part of the spotlight in Ozzies. While Blitzø is used to being the butt of the joke, he only became uncomfortable when he realized he had accidentally dragged Stolas under the bus with him, without noticing that Stolas was still concerned for Blitzø.
i love how much danny gets into the show he watching like so many other "reaction" type channels are just commenting writing or budget and this man is just begging for stolas to be happy

Part of the reason why Stolas Sings sounds so ragged is because he sang the whole song in one take many times before recording that take, he sang his voice ragged to get that quality that fits so perfectly.
I remember hearing the opposite, that he didn't need many takes before the one they used but he was literally crying while singing it and that's why it sounds like genuine distress
@@musicisum0405He did it many times considering the fact that he did the entire song for a while, so when he started recording actual takes it sounded raw already. If I remember right, it only took him 4 takes, but he had sung himself slightly raw before that perfectly imperfect take.

21:00 THIS! I mean, I saw a theory that it could be their way of avoid talking and pretending that nothing happened between them in S1E7. Like, instead of talking, they just brush it all off purposefully
Fun reaction! A huge theme of the show is exploring behavior that comes from trauma, both "acceptable" and "unacceptable". Loona, for example, protects herself with anger because of the abuse and abandonment she experienced through the adoption system. The sad truth is, in real life, a lot of children who display "aggressive" or "problematic" behavior act that way because they were abused or neglected and aren't able to properly regulate their emotions because of it. Blitz is similar, which is why he adopted Loona. You can see his trauma effect his relationship with Stolas. He feels safe when his relationship with Stolas is just about sex, but pulls away and can't accept that it could be anything else because that's a very vulnerable position to be in. It has nothing to do with whether or not he cares about Stolas; it's the trauma response. Stolas ALSO makes mistake in their relationship because of his trauma, but it's seen as more "acceptable". His desperation for connection makes him come on really strong and go really hard on the flirting and sex talk which, ironically, plays into Blitz's trauma about not being worthy of a full relationship. It's also why Stolas was so occupied with Blitz in Loo Loo land to the extent where he neglected his daughter.
yes!! you put this so well, i see so many people ‘picking sides’ (especially, it seems, when it comes to blitzø) which always just feels like they’re completely missing the point (that you’ve articulated so well here !!) ❤
At least Stolas went to the circus in person, rather than being only semi-present via magic mirror. I wonder why they used "buy." Stolas father only "bought" Blitzo for the rest of that day, so it's more like hire, or rent if you really want to use a term usually taken for objects.
I feel like Danny misses the fact that like most of the time blitz was with Stolas it was because he was bought, like he’s was sold by his father and forced to steal he didn’t just do it cuz he wanted to, and now he needs to sleep with Stolas to keep his business up and running, he doesn’t really have a choice in that Like I’m not saying he’s a good person he’s from hell after all but he’s also not really in the wrong
I’m loving how Danny went from calling stolas a a weird gross bird creature. To stolas’s being his favorite character in the whole series and him willing fight people so stolas can be ba happy. Because I feel like that’s how all of us feel. Stolas is just a big emotionally fragile teddy bear who must be protected at all cost. Also because i know by now he’s watched all of season two. I just want to say I love fizz and Ozzie cause they are the healthy relationship version of Stolas and Blitzø
And then you remember that Stolas is perfectly capable of wrecking house, ruining lives, slaughtering his enemies, etc... he just chooses not to. Viv and Brandon read the "pacifist" descriptor about Stolas in the Lesser Key and went "ah yes. Trauma pinata." I mean I'm not mad about it. There's a very compelling story to be told about potentially pushing a pacifist to the extent of their patience, kindness, and strength in their belief. So far, Stolas has held on to that in the face of Stella's cruelty. Will he continue to? Especially with Andrealphus coming into play? We have a Chekhov's gun hung on the wall from Western Energy-- the only time we've seen Stolas ACTUALLY threaten another demon was in response to a threat to Octavia. ....We'll see what happens.
@@saralovelace7219 given how utterly terrifying Stolas was versus the men in black who'd kidnapped Blitz, pretty sure Hell is going to need a whole other Ring to run to if they succeed in making him that mad. 🤔
@@saralovelace7219 Heck Stolas was so much a pacifist that he didn't even kill the Agent when he twisted her head around during his summoning. Dude was just "lemme just spin this back in place. there we are". He also still turned a Imp to stone and had no issue with Blitz killing Imps at Loo Loo Land. Its a neat way to show Stolas isn't quite as innocent as he lets on. But he's also not that bad of a dude even in Hell.
Remember that while yes, Blitz was awful to Stolas at first, it is Stolas who put him in transactional status. He held the book over Blitz's head for a job and made his use of it contingent on sex. He also did treat Blitz like a sex object out in public. He has been equally awful in his. He also did choose to have an affair and not think about the consequences beforehand and allowed Blitz to use the Grimoire illegally. While he's tragic, he's not a victim here.
Exactly. It's wild to me how people are not seeing both sides. Some like Danny see nothing wrong with Stolas and some I know see Blitzø as the victim and Stolas as an abuser. To me its too men who entered a consensual contract with selfish gain but feelings got in the way. I have a feeling Danny is not going to like Look My Way cuz Stolas is very apologetic and in pain. I'm definitely gonna skip his Western Energy reaction cuz I just know he's gonna be mad at Blitzø for choosing to stay at the hospital with Loona. Many do. But I am gonna click like and leave a comment to support him!
I'm not saying I disagree with you totally. I just do feel the need to point out technically Stolas did not hold anything over Blitz's head. Blitz STOLE his grimoire prior to S1E1. Blitz still HAS it in S1E1. Stolas has made no effort to get it back, although he could have easily on his own, or chosen to be a real bastard and gotten Blitz in a TON of trouble. Technically, that phone call is Stolas negotiating the return of the grimoire and giving Blitz an out so that Stolas does NOT have to make a THING out of it. Does he also use it as a way to get something he wants? Absolutely. You're 100% correct in that Blitz's options all sucked: Take this deal, or gimme the grimoire back, or I'm going to TAKE it back/get your ass arrested. But Blitz left himself open to trouble when he stole from an Ars Goetia. So I respectfully disagree that anything was held over his head, because he didn't have a right to that book in the first place. He was given an out and he took it. Now, you are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT about Stolas' behavior towards him in s1. He demeaned him, he objectified him, he was dismissive of objections. That's 100% on him. And he did...choose... to have an affair, although one could argue his decision making was impaired at the time. He'd downed an entire bottle of absinthe, not to mention numerous glasses of champagne. He was extremely angry at Stella, and was suddenly being pursued in a way he'd only read about. Probably dreamed about. And Blitz was not giving him a lot of time to *think*, as pressed as he was to get the grimoire. Every time Stolas tried to slow down to think, Blitz escalated. So honestly, that one's a bit iffy as well. And while not free from flawed decisions or behaviors, it can't be overlooked that Stolas is 100% a victim of spousal abuse. Verbal and emotional, at least. Physical, possibly. One "on-camera" attempt to backhand him does not make a pattern. People tend to handwave a lot of his flawed behaviors due to this... but I think it's more interesting to see characters as both. Especially since we're actively seeing Stolas try to correct and change.
@@filmfangirls9163 Two men who entered a consensual contract for selfish gain is EXACTLY what they are. And both caught more feels than they meant to. XD And I'm not sure Danny sees nothing wrong with Stolas. Like, last video he said "I don't think Blitz would run off for a booty call if his daughter was in danger. He's not Stolas." But honestly, S2 has been a HARD one on Stolas fans AND Blitz fans because Stolas has taken a lot of hits and Blitz has made some REAL fucked decisons (*coughChazcough*) and lord forbid you're a person who still wants them to end up together and oof.
@@saralovelace7219Per their first phone conversation, I have a different take on it: Stolas mentions to Blitz that they already had a discussion about the book and he already knew they were using it illegally. And it's established in this episode that he stayed all night. So while it was his intention to steal, he ultimately did get permission from Stolas to use it. While we know Stolas was drunk and abused, Blitz may not have known that. Stolas was the one who mentioned sex first - he didn't know Stolas well enough to know that his social skills are terrible. Their entire initial encounter started as Blitz being self serving and mean, later growing to like Stolas enough to stay all night. But he was fine to keep their sex as a one night stand - Stolas chose to make them have sex monthly. Stolas also could have offered to have IMP do other things, like bodyguard work or other jobs, in order to use the book, but kept his payment as sex only. I do agree that he's an abuse victim. I absolutely pity him give him major credit for trying to fix things. But I wouldn't consider either one more innocent in this than the other. I'm also not sure that Danny has paid close enough attention to Blitz's character. Yes he's an ass, but he's very traumatized and currently his self hate is his biggest enemy. So people do need to give him some slack for his behavior, too.
A weird thing I've noticed is that Loona being the only one who has a human disguise kind of makes sense she's the one who handles the grimoire. So maybe she learned the spell from that. Although similar to there being more than one way to access the human world, I'm sure there's more than one way to learn the spell for a human disguise.
All Hellhounds have human disguises. Vortex also had one. I don't think Loona got it from the grimoire. Tho the official lore on how demons disguise themselves (at least, magically) is still up in the air.
@@The1nvisibleJeevasmy theory is that Hellhounds have a natural affinity for magic and thats why theyre pushed to the bottom rung of social class, to keep them from uprising and overthrowing the order

I thought that the song was called "Owl in a cage"
@@WaltDevil060 Its what most people call it. But on helluva boss official Spotify thing its Stolas sings, and on yt too I think.

Part of the reason why Stolas Sings sounds so ragged is because he sang the whole song in one take many times before recording that take, he sang his voice ragged to get that quality that fits so perfectly.

I feel like Danny misses the fact that like most of the time blitz was with Stolas it was because he was bought, like he’s was sold by his father and forced to steal he didn’t just do it cuz he wanted to, and now he needs to sleep with Stolas to keep his business up and running, he doesn’t really have a choice in that
Like I’m not saying he’s a good person he’s from hell after all but he’s also not really in the wrong
11:30 no one ever talks about what a self report that is for Stella 😭
"Moxxie's life is too good!"
Oh, just you wait, Danny. Just you wait. You're gonna see how wrong you are.
@@saralovelace7219good points!!
