A mother and her inspiring six-year-old son who was born with a gap in his face is raising awareness of the treatment of people with facial differences. Christian Buchanan from Woodbury, Tennessee, was born with Tessier cleft lip and palate, a rare condition which has only been documented 60 times in medical history. Tessier cleft lip and palate is the result of the facial tissues not joining properly during development, causing a facial disfigurement and the inability to eat, speak and see.

I'm 11 years old and my brother has ADHD and Autism and that forced me to grow fast. He is almost 16 years old and watching this video made me feel so grateful and appreciative of I have. Also it made me inspired that a kid without one of his senses can stay so positive.

If someone said "Ew" to my kid I would not be able to keep my cool. What the hell was running through that woman's mind? And how would she feel if she had like a broken leg and someone walked up to her and asked what happened to her? He may be different but he still has feelings non the less. I think if she could explain how the red parts of his eyes that are exposed are not causing him pain or if she treats them some way would give me peace of mind. Seeing red flesh automatically stimulates the primal brain to think he’s hurt and it would be super helpful to know he’s not hurting.

He's an amazing kiddo, no fear and an amazing mama who helps him reach whatever goals he's after. He will do just fine he's got everything he needs to excel in life. Even some of the most so called able children do not have a support system and or the simple drive to get out there and do and be what they want and it's just awesome to see a child who cannot even see the world around him navigating it so well. Much love to this whole family and wish them nothing but the best.
