- I WAS ABLE TO SWIM IN A PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN MERMAID TAIL!!
(no brothers were hurt in the making of this video)
I ab-shell-utely loved swimming in this tail and it was a lot faster than I expected! I’ve never felt more of a mermaid then in this tail to be very honest :) So this tail is inspired by the pirates of the Caribbean movie with the mermaids (on stranger tides) and all of the mermaids seem to have the same tail but with different colors. After collecting as much references as I could and really trying my best I think Syrena’s tail is a bit of an orange/bronze color that gradients into her skin tone, with a rainbow-like shine. So that is what I tried to make here! Oh and yes I made this tail, if you would like to know how, check out my tutorial video :)
Also I got some great and funny reactions from people on the beach. It was drying on a chair, and this guy runs towards it in panic saying: ‘’did you pull that out of the sea???’’ and I was like no it’s a costume XD, and he took a while to look around it and was like ‘’ohhh’’ besides that I had some fun conversations with kids about it, and even saw a few mimic the dolphin kick after watching me.
Although the tail got too hot in our tent and the glue of the foam let loose a bit because of that. I managed to find a store and glue it back together afterwards! This is also why you might see some wrinkles in the tail sometimes. Besides that I think I could also improve upon the monofin since it points out a bit to much near my toes, it could be better if it was more in the middle. And of course longer, but then it wouldn't fit in the car. But those are great ways to improve upon my tails in the future!

Alright so a story unfolded in my mind after seeing this tail:
Imagine, 1800’s, a young woman is dressed up for her wedding day. But she hears news her fiancé has been claimed by pirates and has died. Scorned and heartbroken she leaps from the cliff still in her dress and falls to the tides below. However, she was being watched by sirens and they thought she was too beautiful to be lost to sea. So they used their magic to change her and thus her tail took form of her wedding dress. Now she and the other sirens hunt the ocean for those damned pirates that stole their loves from them.

To all the mermaid tails i ever seen, yours i would say is the best. because the movement of the tail under water is so smooth it feels like a real tail. unlike to other mermaid tails that I've seen it maybe beautiful and realistic but the fact that when they swim and bend their knees are too obvious, is not so nice to watch. But your mermaid tail you can't even see the knee bending, which made it so beautiful and smooth like a real one and that's what makes the difference.

So now I can finally give my opinion on it: To first go into the content, I have to say that the wait was absolutely worth it! Renee, I am absolutely thrilled! 🤩 We have wonderful underwater shots here and I would also like the idea that this video should not just be a showcase of the fin, but also look like a small short film due to the acting portrayal of Sam. I thought it was damn good! (? if I read the credits correctly) And even if this fin is very heavy as you said yes, you swam with it with such ease, so also beautiful to look at 🤗 Now as far as the technical thing is concerned: I can't really fault it about it say that the editing was also absolutely great! the camera guidance was also very, very good, the background music was suitable and it both underlined the underwater recordings wonderfully, as well as creating a great tension during the part with Sam. If the effort weren't so great, I could have watched it for 30 minutes, you were really enchanted for a short time, you can say 🤗 So to you and everyone involved, a very big praise! 🤗🧡🧜♂️ 10/10! Keep it up Renee! ^^

Ok. As I use to wear plain white shirt when beyond shorline and swimming when I was young, I wan't this tail costume for my swim. Its beautiful, but just like goldfish, which is agressive at the same time.❤❤

You know what would look cool on a tail like this? Fins around the waist, made with the same material you used for the side fins. It would hide the fabric around the waist and it would look pretty.

Yeah I know haha, you can also make a fabric H2O/mako tail instead that’s cheaper, but silicone or sequins look better ofc haha. I used photoshop :)

Just wondering, what sun screen or block do u use? And what do u apply to ur eyes when swimming to avoid it from reddening or hurting
I just use regular sunscreen lol. My eyes don’t hurt when swimming actually :) only afterwards, but then I rinse in the shower and it’s all good :)

I definitely feel the "very much stuck" part 😂 when I practiced with my tail at an apartment pool the rope dividing the deep end from the shallow kept getting in the way 😂💖🧜♀️

The foam didn’t make it buoyant at all! It’s a weird waterpoof foam and has a flow trough system so that helps a lot :)
At the end. the mermaid, the sailor, and the camera man all has the same last name, so they're probably siblings. so the mermaid drowned her brother

sorry, I'm a tailmaker: Why did you put foam into this tail? it make it float and it will break over time and smell bad and everything, I think it's the worst ting that you could have done! it was so simple, you just had to make a scale patern mold and do a silicone copy and glue it together (I'm making it super simple so you can understand well)
also, why did you make a patern when you add silicone on top of it and make it vanish?????

The foam is waterproof and cannot mold, it has a flow trough system, I’ve swam in it and it doesn’t float!
