    The car may not have won, but it looks like it tied. Yikes. Certainly not comforting knowing this will be happening more often since each wheel has much less weight keeping the newer streetcars on the rails than the older ones.

      FS150HZ this is kinda like what happened when septa removed the Brill bullets from the norristown line. Those bulky top heavy cars (these new ones are also top heavy) that replaced the bullets were prone to swaying which in Toronto conditions could result in derailment. Had more likely to fail brakes and other systems too. These new cars on other city lines have proven to be expensive easy to damage just like the other counter parts. Modern rail equipment is not built to as strict standards as that of the past which resulted in heavier cars that were easier to work with and harder to knock apart. If a truck ever gets in the way of the modern cars they be putting in Toronto the older cars would bounce off but these things will just make like a Ecordian and squish.

      The trick is looking before you turn and trying to stay off the tracks as much as possible. Can't be so hard, works in the rest of the world.

    Wow. So all it takes is a SUV to derail a streetcar. Clearly the old ones were better designed. The new ones are just all about fancy looks.

    • @tigrovica8417
      @tigrovica8417 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, but sadly this is how the new ones are manufactured. I do not believe that they'll be sticking around for same time as the old ones, i feel like they're created to be like fency and stuff but i feel like they're created to survive 20 years at best.

      It's probably just that the street car is extremely light. It no longer has to carry a diesel engine or whatnot.
      Also, what experience do you have with the older streetcars?

    • @H5subway5707
      @H5subway5707 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really speaks volumes about the difference between light vs heavy rail. In this case it's a lose/lose situation, had it been a train instead of a streetcar it's game over.

    • @HesJustSteven

      The new streetcar is extremely top heavy, it doesn’t take much to knock them off the rails tbh

      What these guys saying is true, but when I think of a tram, I think of a small, little box streetcar. But if I’m thinking of any other streetcars, it’s Toronto’s light rail type of streetcars.
