  • I hope you guys enjoy this video of me grooming my dog Chloe. I’m not a groomer, I just enjoy learning how to do things on my own, that came in handy during quarantine. I didn’t include the part of me grinding Chloe’s nails because I didn’t want to make the video longer but do let me know if you’d like to see a video on that in the comments. Hopefully you can learn something from this video, don’t forget to subscribe to my channel, share this video and stay tuned for more!
    Give this video a thumbs up if you think Chloe was a cute model!

      Lots treat bribing makes her calmer, I also try to tire her out. Chloe goes nuts when she sees or hears dogs on the tv or my computer too!

    As a professional groomer, she should have a groomers helper attached to a clamp grooming arm. It’s just so she doesn’t step off the table, she doesn’t move while you use scissors and also in case she jerks so you don’t catch her skin, too! Great job with her groom!

    • @everythingelizabethx3
      @everythingelizabethx3  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I wanted to get a grooming table with the arm for extra safety but I make sure to watch her diligently and never leave her up there. Luckily she doesn’t try to walk off and is a calm dog.

      Thank you!! Grooming at home definitely has a learning curve, each time you groom you’ll get better and better. I switch from clippers to scissors right above her front leg elbow and put my arm right across to her back leg to have as a guideline. Then you blend as needed so there isn’t obvious where you switched from clippers to scissors. ☺️🐶

    Fantastic video with great detail. What tips do you have to get a dog that's about to be clipped for the first time by a non professional (me) to be as calm and well behave as Chloe is. Also, the clippers you used (Andis) are quite expensive, am I able to use mens Wahl clippers to clip my Cockapoo and lastly, how often do you clip Chloe

      Aww thank you so much! and congrats on the new puppies! Chloe has definitely calmed down a bit since I started grooming her but I guess it's just because she's gotten used to it. I do recommend to get a portable/foldable grooming table if you can because it has the arm to help hold you puppies in place. They sell them on amazon for about $60+ depending how much you want to spend, the only reason I don't have one is because I live in a tiny NYC apt and Chloe happened to be small enough to fit on my tv dinner table lol. Good luck with grooming and remember it takes practice and patience!

    • @everythingelizabethx3
      @everythingelizabethx3  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chloe used to squirm a lot too! She still does sometimes. The best way I got her used to it was by putting the scissors near her ears, I’d trim the air so she could hear what sound it makes and not get freaked out. I’d also let her sniff them beforehand because they’re very curious when they see new things, I’d run them along her body without cutting, just so she could see it doesn’t hurt and it’s not scary but always make sure to speak to them nicely and reassure that it will be ok and then chase with some treats after you notice good behavior.

    Hi I’m from the UK and I’m about to try and do my dog for the first time so I was looking for a video which would help me I have a cock a poo called Kimmy and I am wanting to do it myself and I watch this and thought yes I can do this and I did love the way you did it and it explains so much compared to the other side scene I’d already bought all the equipment but now I’ve got the confidence to have a go. I may be bloke my little dog is everything to me and I do love the fact that she should be treated just like any other child and she does get spoiled and that’s why I wanted to do it myself it’s just me and her I’m not brave enough to record it but I might actually be tempted to send it directly to you before and after pictures God forbid if I completely make a hash of it anyway it was fantastic and thank you very much from the UK James

      @everythingelizabethx3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi James! I’m sorry for the delayed reply, I hope you’ve gained the confidence to go ahead and groom your Cockapoo. Grooming at home takes time and patience both from you and your dog, the first few times won’t be perfect but eventually you’ll see what you did wrong and how you’ll fix it next time. Just remember to keep going until you’ve got the hang of it and always be careful and gentle but If you feel you did a wacky job you can always throw a sweater on your dog until it grows for the next time😅

      I too planned on taking Chloe to the groomers once in a while but after I got the hang of grooming I never took her back, it sure does save a lot of money. I would take her if I didn’t have time but I can usually carve out some time for her.

  • @BusuMary

    Thanks for the video. Saving my money ! Learned a lot ! ❤
    I am wondering, I've seen many videos that the groomer pluck out the inside ears hair, I just got a dog, 2 weeks ago, had already ear infection and the vet recommended me to bring her to them to cut the hair from ears. I see, you don't do that. It is any extra separat grooming that you do periodically to yours beauty ears?

    • @everythingelizabethx3
      @everythingelizabethx3  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you!! Dogs with long downward ears are more prone to ear infections. I don't pluck Chloe's ear hair because I'm scared of hurting her, they say it doesn't hurt them but I prefer to leave that to the professionals. I just make sure to keep her ears clean, dry, and cut, I use a burts bees ear-cleaning solution that seems to work well. I'd also follow the vet's steps for treating and maintaining your dog's ear health.

    • @everythingelizabethx3
      @everythingelizabethx3  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you! Chloe was a little scared at first because it must be strange to hear and feel the clippers and not know what they are but she slowly adjusted. Sometimes she still resists, so I let her have a break or I’ll give her treats. When Chloe was a puppy I also used to tire her out with long walks or some time at the dog park so by the time I washed and dried her she’d be pretty tired and just let me clip her without resisting.

      The clippers I use in the video are in the description, they’re about $60 on Amazon but I’ve also upgraded now because the Andis clippers I used here suddenly died on me, they were good while they lasted and good for learning, so you could try them out. I’m now using the Wahl Professional Animal Chromado, they’re about $100 more but I think they’re worth it because the quality is better and they’re wireless. I’m going to do an updated video with these clippers soon.

      Thank you!! ☺️ Chloe used to find the sound strange too, the clippers I use are specifically for pets so they’re not as loud but to adjust her to the sound I’d turn them out without clipping her, I’d let her sniff them carefully and I also would put them on her so she can feel the vibration before going ahead with clipping, I think that helped because they’re just naturally curious. I’m flattered but no I don’t have any clients, I just enjoy grooming my dog but if you still take your dog to the groomers don’t be shy to let them know what and how exactly you’d want your dog to look like. I started grooming my dog because I never loved her groomer cuts and when I tried to explain how I wanted they’d say things like “that’s not how we normally cut them” as if there’s only one haircut per breed.

    There is no way my dog will stay still and let me do this. Every time i've tried he has turned it into a big play fight.
