This was SO helpful! I previously had a Yorkie and I groomed her for 14 years but my new pup is a Cockapoo and the same rules don't apply for their faces lol so seeing how you brush the hair forward is such a huge help. Thank you for these and your pup is SO cute!!
Oh my goodness, this is brilliant! I had wanted to trim Oliver's hair on his face many times in between grooming, but had no idea how to do it. Holding under the chin like that is perfect. So I went over to him to try it out as I paused this video and just held under his chin gently and he was as still as could be. I am so thrilled to learn this trick. And Watson is such a good boy! Love you lots, Karen! Melissa
And with poodles, it's so important to trim around his eyes. His hair is so curly and it always curls into his eyes and causes not only a disruption in his sight, but great irritation to his eyes. But I didn't know how to get him to be still. Doug and I would both try to hold him down while the other neared his eyes with scissors. It was so frightening and dangerous. This is a dog saver!
Melissa55 I cut my husband's hair, I might try holding him under the chin next time 😃😃 Seriously great how calm the dog is. Looking forward to both your next videos
Thanks so much Melissa, I'm so happy this has worked for you and the gorgeous Oliver! That's my aim with these videos - to make the process more bearable for the dogs and safer :0) Haha, Dewar I nearly spat my tea out with laughter at your comment :0) xx
I've watched all your grooming vids and I don't even own a dog. Watson is just so gorgeous! XXX
Oh bless you, that is so cute! And you are right about him being loved more than some children - I wish I'd had parents like we are lol. x
This was great. Watson is so patient! He is such a good boy.
I am getting my Australian Labradoodle next Sunday. Thank you for your very helpful videos.
Wish Watson could train my little guy to be such a good boy during all the grooming you
have done. Can’t wait to bring Finnegan home! Judy
So cute shutting his eyes ready 😍
Brilliant video thank you. I am picking up my baby cockapoo in four weeks, (can't wait)
Going to start him being touched and groomed early as part of a petting and massage routine and then hoping to be able to do my grooming at home.
Your beautiful Watson is such a good boy. Such a beautiful coat and colours xx
This is so helpful, especially for a beginner. Big thanks!
Great job Karen. Haircut and communicating with Watson!
What a handsome boy!
Great demo thanks!
Many thanks for the excellent video. This will really help me with my cockapoo puppy.
I start off the video by saying I'll be growing out Watson's hair but then at the end I change my mind lol. I'm aware that this video is a bit amateur, and will be re-filming next time Watson needs a face groom, but in the meantime I'll work on doing better videos for his Tail and Ear trimming where I don't get in the camera's way and the focus isn't so bad! Any questions, feel free to ask. Karen x
Your video is perfect. Thanks 😊
really informative and easy to follow
I really enjoyed the video, can't wait for another and I don't even have a dog lol, but I can't help watching Watson he's gorgeous xx
I wish my girl would close her eyes and not move! It’s crazy how easy you make it look!!
Great video. And thank you for linking everything in the description box. I found that very helpful indeed!
This was really helpful! We just got a new labradoodle and we're going to try and groom him ourselves. Thank you!
Brilliant.
Loving your videos with Watson! They're so easy to understand and follow! You've said you'll be doing one on doing his head which I hope will include his cheeks! Any idea when you'll do this as we're nearly ready to try it! Many thanks! Annette Hogg
OHMYGOSH! Watson is spectacular ♥️He is so sweet.
You really do make the nicest job if a labradoodle face. I've been to so many groomers and my mini labradoodle has come our looking like a poodle. So I'm going to have to try myself. My doodle does have tighter curls than Watson though on her face. I will try and copy what you do.
Have link for the Toe clippers? Such a good boy!
Excellent! Thank you!
Watson is beautiful and is beautifully behaved! My Jack Russel gets very scruffy and needs grooming regularly but he's such a fidget and wants to walk off all the time! My other dog is much more patient but she doesn't ever need grooming lol
Such a beautiful dog, really. Tfs.
I am not here for the hair cut...just wanted to see his cute and adorable face..:))) I'll be getting a labdoo at the end of this year...so so excited..love from Tassie
Good video
If there was a British best dog owner, you'd win it,all in the name of love. 🐶🐕🐩
he is gorgeous. is he standard or medium size?
Great tips !!!
What make are the scissors you are using please
They are Roseline
I am looking for ultra quiet clippers that take longer to get hot than your average clippers. I'm an amateur groomer and just want to be able to groom my own cockapoo. Is there any update to the clippers that you recommend or is the link provided still the best. Happy to pay to get the best for the job. Thanks
Hi Hannah, what you are looking for sounds wonderful - quiet clippers that don't heat up so much, that sounds heavenly lol. So far though, in speaking to other groomers and my own experience, there isn't such a thing! The heating up is just part of the process, but what I can say is the Andis clippers I use are now not sold and are very noisy. I don't know what I'll do when mine eventually run out. If I do find good ones, I'll let you know :0) x
Hi! How do you make sure to avoid cutting the whiskers??!
Its actually not necessary to avoid cutting dogs whiskers (vibrissae) in terms of pain as its painless to cut them and most groomers will simply take them off as standard. That said, it will of course dull the senses as the vibrissae enhance a dogs senses and help them assess the sizes of objects for example. Remember that they aren't just in the muzzle and are above the eyes also. I think this may be a good subject for me to do a video on! When I was grooming, I would ensure to not cut the whiskers if the dog had any issues with any other senses so hard of hearing dogs, blind dogs, and now I also leave them on my Watson as I've found he is less bothered at me touching his muzzle if I don't cut them. Its quite tricky but you basically have to try and hold the whiskers and trim around them, so best to use scissors and not clippers. Hope this helps! x
That helps-thank you!
Hello and thank you for the video. I have the Andis clippers but cannot find the toe blade you refer to in this video. Can you share a link to the blade itself? Thank you!
I don't recommend that toe blade anymore - instead I recommend the mini clippers - they are very expensive though - www.amazon.co.uk/WAHL-Professional-BravMini-Trimmer-41590-0438/dp/B00IN24ILE/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=WAHL+Bravmini+Clipper&qid=1606139250&s=pet-supplies&sr=1-3
OMG Karen that was adorable. Watson is so beautiful and well behaved, all that training pays off.
What would you recommend for a general shearing scissors?
I'm not sure if you mean thinning scissors or scissors for scissoring legs? Thinning shears are linked in the description as per my recommendation in this video :0) All my scissors are Roseline and I recommend them 100%! These are the ones I use to scissor the legs - amzn.to/3d8phSL
He is so like my charlie cockapoo loads of fun,and a beutiful blue merle

OMG wATSON IS SO GOOD, MY lOUIS WOULD NEVER SIT THERE , I DON'T KNOW HOW MY GROOMER IS DOING IT . xoxoNisha
