Tag along a typical day in my life at the TUM (Technical University of Munich) in Bavaria.
I'm currently studying Wirtschaftsinformatik (Information Systems) at the TUM. Regarded as one of the best universities in Germany, the TUM campus is very modern and suited very well for international students as well.

cool video man! so, the main thing is... do you maybe have any tips on finding cheap accommodations? maybe some insider info? I got accepted to the Uni yesterday, Physics at Garching but seems like finding an inexpensive accommodation is a pain in the ass. thank you for the info and the videos!
first of all congrats bro! That's actually a good video idea because it's not an easy topic to cover in a single comment. My Top tips are start as early as possible (I started a few weeks before but I got kinda lucky, I'd say 2 months before the due date would be sufficient. The second most important thing is to CALL AND NOT SEND EMAILS. You get faster responses and it already creates a first impression which is generally very wanted by the owners. As for the prices in Munich.... well buddy, we did choose the most expensive city in Germany 😂

Yes there is a bachelor degree in CS, I take about 60% of what they take. They have more hardware lectures than I do though. It is in German. (but even the instructors think its kind of stupid and would rather have it in English lol)

How are your grades at TUM?
And how hard is it to get
Since I'm only in the first semester it's hard to say how it is in general especially because they say that the first is usually the hardest (probably doesn't get easier, you just get used to it 😉) , but I must say that the exams are pretty hard, on some my main goal is to get a good grade but on others it's just to pass 😁😬. On a scale of 1 - 10 I'd give it an 8. Doable but you need to invest a lot of time

As to where I'm from, you can take a guess after watching the video about which languages I speak haha 😉

Bro, what are ur living expenses including accommodation nd everything...nd great video though..😃😃
living expenses range from person to person depending on habits, preferences etc but I would assume around 100-300 EUR for the average student. Accommodation also heavily depends on luck, connections, location etc. but an average in Munich would be around 500-700 EUR for a decent room/1 room apartment.

Can u answer me something? I'm in the Exchange Program for TUM, so I was searching and I read about the fees we need to pay when the semester starts and I had a question about this. The "Student Fee" (129,40 €) includes the "Student Union Fee" (62,00 €)? Thank you!
yah the 130 EUR is basically for organizational purposes and the student card etc. I pay the same amount for my semesters =) Germans like to be very specific so they tell you what's included in the payment 😉

TUM actually offers the "Technology and Management" major (TUM BWL) solely in English. It's known as the "English Track" since you can choose between the two. As for tuition, well it's public and in Germany so basically for free ;)

Most are 6 semesters so 3 years

Yoo i just got got accepted by the TUM for wirtschaftsinformatik and i start this october...what tipps would you give us beginners?
Lectures start around mid Oct, but the orientation week starts beginning of Oct so make sure to attend that and get to know as many people as you can 😉 Also enjoy the first few weeks before it gets tougher

Are your courses taught in English or German? Or can you opt to chose whatever language you want?
Most of them are in German, but a couple can be taken in English. About 80% German 20% English until now.
Cool video! I'm also interested in studying at the TUM and would like to know why did you choose Wirtschaftsinformatik over normal Informatik or like the Management and Technology course. I'm deciding between these three options and would really appreciate your thoughts on them!
haha I had the same dilemma when I was choosing my major. I emailed the uni asking about the difference between taking Winfo or Technology and Management with a "minor" in CS. They replied by saying Winfo is about 50% Eco/ business and 50% CS while Technology and Management is about 70% Eco/ business and 30% CS. Since I wanted to learn something new in uni, I told myself i'll challenge myself and take more CS. As to why I didn't choose pure CS...well I was also interested in an economics major and the thought of combining two things was more appealing to me 😀 Hope that helped you, and thanks for the feedback! 😉

Yep it is possible. From personal experience and other friends I recommend a so called "Minijob". Its basically limited to a 450 EUR salary but it is almost not taxed at all and you work anywhere from 3 - 11 hours per week usually which I think is manageable 😉

Hey, ich hätte eine Frage an dich- ich wollte auch den Wirtschaftsinformatikkurs an der TUM belegen, ich werde in 11 Monaten Schule bestanden haben, und ich mach übrigens IB (International Baccaleaureate), weiß nicht was für ein System du hattest, aber falls du es weißt, oder dich erkundigen könntest, wie viele Punkt muss ich in IB kriegen, um angenommen zu werden? Man darf maximal 45 Punkte bekommen und ich hab regelmäßig 35 bekommen. Könntest du irgendwo mal herausfinden wie viel ich brauche? Danke dir im Voraus

Is it hard to enter to TUM? I’m very interested to study there
it highly depends on the major. Some majors have the so called "NC" (numerus clausus) which means there's a limited amount of seats and only the "best" get in. Check which major you'd be interested in and if I know something about it, I'll gladly respond 😀

hey! I wanna apply to TUM for Bsc in Aerospace which is an english taught program... is there a way to get admission without having to learn german till C1(Because I'll need to attend studienkolleg as well)?
I don't think so am in the Bsc Aero rn and everbody that I know had to do an interview as an international student and had to be able to speak german at least a bit. Think it was B2 that they had.

Hello, I have 1 question for you, how many semesters are there in a year at (TUM) university and how much does a single semester cost
You can easily find that info on the website, but there are two semesters at tum and each one costs about 150€
Would you recommend TUM for like more natural sciency courses? Or would you say that it's better for like Business and economic subjects? Thanks xx
I think the name of the Uni gives it away, it's geared towards technical studies but they do have a couple of business-ishy majors. The Uni that's known for it's Social Sciences/Bus/Eco majors is the LMU.

Can you get into MS CS in TUM without giving GRE? Like I know they require GRE but if you don't submit it can you still get admission?
I'm still in my bachelors so unfortunately I cannot give you anecdotal advice but from a logical standpoint, not handing in a requirement will most likely not result in admission 😕

The introduction courses mainly use Java!

Mostly German, some in English however. I'd say around 70% + in German though. Also depends on the major ;)

What should be the min GPA and other requirements to get admitted in Masters in TUM in fields like computer science, Electrical.engineering and physics etc ?
A GPA of 3.6 would be a grade of 1.4-1.6 in the German System (1.0 being the best and 5.0 the worst) , so I'm assuming you'd need a 2.0 and higher in their system so I'd say 3.2 and higher should be a good grade. It's not quite the same though. Unlike American universities, German unis don't really tend to give out information about grade requirement. It also depends on the number of people applying (your competition). In my personal experience (I'm still doing Bachelors though) it's easier to get into German uni's than surviving in them. For technical majors especially, there are usually hardly any restrictions for places. Meaning that anyone adequate for the major would be accepted. Good luck if you ever apply! =)

Syed Tihaam Ahmad actually in the German system a 6.0 would be the worst grade. From what I know they stopped being super strict with grades but they are super competitive with all the other stuff you need to show before applying (portfolios, internships, essays...)
Did you apply by yourself? If so is it hard? Or did you go to a “study abroad” office?
I did it alone.. just like any application, you're going to have to prepare some documents. TUM explains what they need pretty well I would say, so if you follow their requirements you should be good! =)

Hey Achraf! yah I'm currently in my second semester right now and I'll try to recap the first year when I'm done if a lot of people ask. I've also heard the LMU is a bit easier when it comes to Informatik, but I can't say for sure. I think it's easier to continue the master at the TUM if you start your bachelors there. I'm pretty sure they reserve places for their own students, so even if you don't have the perfect grades it could be easier to get in. Keep in mind this is just my understanding of the system based on what I've heard and the people I've talked to, I could also be completely wrong. Do your own research and try to read forums online to align your goals in the best way possible 😉
