- Earl Lewis & The Channels singing "Gloria" back in 1993.
Lyrics:
Gloria, Gloria
It's not Marie
Gloria, it's not Sherie
Gloria, but she's not in love with me
Can you see
It's not Marie
Gloria, it's not Sherie
Gloria, but she's not in love with me
Well maybe she loves me
But who am I to know
And maybe she wants me
But who am I to know
Gloria, it's not Marie
Gloria, it's not Sherie
Gloria, but she's not in love with me
Oh Gloria
I keep playing this as it takes me back 65 years when I would pedal my Schwin to a street corner in South Philly or Camden N.J. (depending where I was living at the time) and meet up with a very diverse group of my peers, and we would stand on a street corner singing Do Wop and we knew we were doing it right when the people driving by would stop, just to listen to us try to hit the very high notes. We did not know we were poor as we were having to much fun.
Wicked, I dig.
I, also, around the same time, sang the doowops with my friends. Only difference was we were terrible and only sang with the record playing on the jukebox.
my second favorite version of this song - the Cadillac's own the song ,but Earl Lewis - the best voice and the most handsome man in Doo Wop ♥
I agree!
Earl Lewis is awesome, the group is still as great as they were back in the 50's.
I was in the 9th grade JHS 59 in Springfield Gardens Queens, N.Y. singing "GLORIA" in the stairwell with several of my friends. I can still hit those high notes at 76. The Channels went to nearby Jamaica High School in Queens, N.Y
IT NEVER GETS BETTER THAN EARL LEWIS!!!
EARL LEWIS AND THE CHANNELS! This is wonderful music! It is so much better than the lame music of today that it is ridiculous! This song is timeless! Still love it! Earl Lewis rocks. A great voice!

One of the best versions of this classic....Earl Lewis knocks it out every time

I love the version by Earl Lewis and the channels. His voice is amazing!
One of the finest groups ever. I can't help but relax when I hear this music. Born in (1975) and raised on the music that shaped america. I would love to see them live. This music will never die.

The stuff they call music now while I just dont get it.Guess I'm getting a bit old. Love thos DOOWOP oldies. I still have a bunchof records like the Jester meet the Paragons etc in Brooklyn N.Y

Mick Jagger p
Cynthia's Channe
Mick Jagger Mick Jagger
Everyone talks about the range of Jay Black, Roy Orbison and the late Tony Williams but Earl has them all beat - as to falsetto - He freakin invented it

Earl Lewis.& The Channels......"Gloria" Sooooooo Gloria.......Fantastic......Joe Porpora......
Great, thank you very much. Reminds me a good times.
Love you all!, keep it coming ❤😂
Music was the best my era of fifties and sixties
@xINovaIx SAW THIS GENTALMAN AND HIS GROUP MANY TIMES IN NY. STILL AS GREAT AS EVER!!!!!
That lead singer should have gone straight to the Met. Incredible voice and excellent harmony from the Channels.
The bigotry of The Metropolitan Opera may have been a wonderful gift to American music lovers on the AM band, the great voices of the Met’s past are now echos in a dimension seldom visited. The music here is embraced by several generations of
Jazz & Rock lovers.
Solid gold---forever!
Keep on DOO WOPS WILL NEVER DIE>
that's the way it's done !! Thanks , Cadillacs
great then and now
Love the harmony hi pit
I love the Channels and the do Gloria as well as all the other groups that covered this tune. However Earl Carroll and the Cadillac's cant be touched. Nothing like the original RIP Earl Carroll. Dr. Doo Wop
Yes indeed
Perfecto for sure
so many versions of this song/ shine on brightly
GREAT!!!!
This is the "only" version!
The video is "Harmonizing: Singing from the heart". The group is the Emeralds. The star is Joe Porpora. The whole video is worth the trouble but the clipped version of Joe singing a capella on Gloria is mind bending!
One of the Great voices
of the doo wop era
Perfecto! Thanks and please keep them coming!
I knew something was off beautifully remix found the original artists Avery pretty song
live Earl Lewis and the channels sounds great
me too luv this songs they dont make them like this no more too bad lucky to grow up with this music
Absolutely
Love it..love Earl:)))
Doo-Wop at it's VERY BEST!!!....♥ ♥ ♥
Awesome
heard them St.Valentines day at the Rdisson/ Hauppaug Long Island/ memories R made of this Earl
Nothing like the Channels and Earl Lewis's high range. Some friend(Doo Wop Friend) told me that Earl Lewis had just retired this year,2016-Is this true, wonder if we'll ever see him perform again??Anyone able to confirm this? "Mitch"-New Jersey
i am a false and this is my only lead song. Earl Lewis can hit higher false the me and I do it great.
Not very many know it but the VERY best version of this song is by Joe Porpora. It's contained (partially) in a 28-minute video that is hard to find but worth the effort. Find it, watch it, then come back and agree!
What a gorgeous voice! (Sheesh!)
Great song Earl Lewis voice is pure doo wopp at it's very best
Love you Earl--West 98 St
One of the best DOO WOP'S SONGS GLORIA.

I love Earl Lewis and the Channels, but the best version of Gloria still belongs to the Cadillacs and Mr.Earl.
Indeed
No way it's better than this version. Earl Lewis rocks!
Get off your asses and give them a standing ovation!
Yeah right they didn't even sing along.

channels version live
❤
Wonderful....doo-wop...
Who is pat
The music of the '50s could be heard and understood. Not like the screamers that came after them.
Paaaa nah I mean Glooooria LMAO
!
Pao! I mean, gloooooorriiaaa xD hella confused
Doo Wop!
Nobody.... thats NOBODY... sings this like John E Booth. lead singer of The Bravados oldies group... Too bad he is gone from agent orange !!! Don R
this guy singing lead is too young to have come from the doo-wop era .
looks young but ,he is the original lead sing from the 1950s (Earl Lewis)
Earl Lewis would be a great singer if he didn't sing so loud he sings this song so loud if he didn't sing so loud he would nail this but he sounds horrible.
cadillac's version is better
i agree!!
