TAUTOG (BLACKFISH) FISHING! CATCH, CLEAN & COOK!

  • Hey guys! In today's video I headed out in search of Tautog (Blackfish). It was an awesome day of fishing! I was able to get my keeper Tog that came in at just over 15 inches. In New Jersey, the size limit for Tog now is one fish at 15 inches. On November 16th, that changes to 5 fish at 15 inches. The bait used in today's video was live green crabs. I am still a novice at Tog fishing as it is not easy. They are a tough fish to catch and it is very rewarding when you can outsmart them. I then cleaned the Tog and cooked it on the grill. I hope you enjoy this video and as always, please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!

Family loves fritters, baked with Ritz cracker topping, tacos rock cuz can do anything, just cought 3 tautog and eating for dinner tomorrow, in RI they are biting👊🍺🎣

So if you get snagged your just loose the weight because the paper clip will give out before your line or rig will

    What time were there on Tuesday ? I was there around 9-10 AM doing some recon (checking water condition & seeing if any action was going on). Tide wasn’t as high as it is in your video.
    I prefer using a single hook rig for blackfish as it decreases your chances of getting snagged. Of course it also means that you’ll be reeling in & rebaiting more often.. Another good spot for blackfish is in the canal. Plenty of action but like fluke fishing in the inlet during the summer you have to go through a ton of shorts before you get a keeper.
    I think I might be hitting the inlet late Friday morning/early afternoon.

    • @MKOutdoors
      @MKOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got there a little after 11. And agree on the single hook. I was using store bought rigs, but actually started tying my own after this video. I youtubed how to do it, lol. Thanks for watching man, always appreciate it. Im probably gonna be there Monday again

    I use to fillet fish for a living, its good u got a better knife. U dont want to go cheap on a knife, like they say u get what u pay for.
    And that is a pretty strict limit, 1 over 15". Is that because there are not many of them?

    Why are you only allowed one fish at 15 inches?

    • @MKOutdoors
      @MKOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Doug, that was the season regulation at the time. On November 16th, it went to being able to keep 5 fish at 15 inches. State regs
