A neurosurgeon was building a house in my town, and total cost of cabinets were $250k. This was kitchen(S), bar, and all Bathrooms. They were all matching. Home builder said the couple came in from vacation and all the cabinets hd just been set. The wife walks in and starts crying because she hated them. Mind you, she picked them out. I often use that COB LED strip in my kitchen builds. There are snap connectors available which make joining pieces together much easier. No soldering needed. Hope that helps
I'm sure those snap connectors are good, but I've had to fix a few (different brands) that go dry after a few years and don't allow the full voltage through so you get dim leds. I always solder them to fix as that lasts much better. I'll check the COB ones out.
I love the unity and humility in the crew. Even though people have their own roles theres not too many chiefs and the team mindset is evident. Product is A+ too. Keep it up boys!
It's one thing to take measurements and an idea for a project that size; it's another to take it back to the shop and create it, take the product back to the home and install it, and have turn out perfectly. There is professional quality, and then there is "master" quality work. Black Forest creates master quality every time. Well done.
Well those bar stools will need replacing. That kitchen is WAY too fabulous for them. What a stunning use of an epoxy pour. I'm not always a fan tbh. It doesn't always have a high end feel. But you guys always seem to nail it, and this... is utterly stunning. Way to rep 🇨🇦 !
Amazing craftsmanship as always! If I win the lottery I’m calling you 😂 I can’t believe I’m offering some of the best craftsmen in the world advice, but about the soldering, you want to have good flow between the two pieces being soldered together. And you need heat to get that. Always heat the wire then add the solder it so it flows up the threads, same for the pad. This is called tinning, it makes joining easier. Once both sides ate tinned just hold them together with the iron until the solder flows again and you’re good. Dipping the wire into solder on the end of the iron doesn’t get the wire hot and you end up with a weak joint. Didn’t see the process of joining the two ends so hopefully it’s strong!
Hi 👋, Black Forest Wood Co, That’s a amazing Job guys, it is a joy to seeing young guys with that levels skill working together, Stay safe guys, I look 👀 Forward too seeing your project, Phil from the moulin France.
For clean vinyl installation, go find some guys who do vinyl wraps on vehicles and talk to them. They can point you to the correct tools and methods. At a minimum, get some application squeegies (sp?) to help smooth the vinyl. Beautiful work!
This is INSANNNNNELY gorgeous!!!! Great job!!!!! I was going to suggest pushing air bubbles out of vinyl with the edge of a credit card and a straight pin to pop stubborn bubbles, but the numerous suggestions of a squeegee and soap sounds like they might even be more effective. The credit card and pin will get you a long ways towards smooth. 💖
Amazing job guys, looks great. I was 37 years on the job building custom homes and had the same customers for a very long time, anyways my point is there was in some instances we'd go back and give kitchen cabinets a refresh, new doors and hardware and vinyl surfaces on the inside. We always applied it with a spray of Windex first then apply vinyl film and squeeze out bubbles with a plastic body fill spreaders....it's the same technique used to install car tint.
Remarkable project. Immaculate finish. Always good to see fine artisans at work, very satisfying. I can see why the client spent so much on the project, you can't get this without spending some serious cash.
Unbelievable work ! Love the videos and especially these types of larger non table projects (even though I love the tables as well) ! With vinyl; I have had some success using a roller; either a dowel or PVC pipe or similar ! Once you initially stick the vinyl in place; you then use the roller immediately behind the vinyl as you roll it out ! It keeps tension on the vinyl and reduces a lot of the wrinkles ! Also; the shorter you keep the length of vinyl as you roll it out the better; if all that makes sense ??? lol
@@BlackForestWoodCo 4th generation sign guy here. Get a squeegee with a cloth edge to glide over the vinyl - spray the cloth edge with water. Also, look into a vinyl that Air Release liner - air bubbles will push out with just applying light pressure to the bubbles

hey about the epoxy not binding to wood so well, I work in boat building and basically every wooden boat there is is fully glued with epoxy and if you do it right the wood will break before the bond does, so you might wanna look into that a bit more :) Awesome project!!
You asked about techniques for installing the white vinyl film. For large jobs like this, it is best to use a film that has a structured / channeled adhesive on the backside. The channels act as an air bleed, which helps tremendously in avoiding wrinkles. Because the structured adhesive is fairly expensive, some prefer to initially spray the substrate surface with soapy water, which keeps the adhesive from immediately sealing. A squeegee is used to eliminate the water from behind the vinyl film. While the soapy water process works for many applications, your kitchen might not be the best application as you need access to the film to continue to remove the water as it gets squeezed out as the adhesive adheres to the substrate. Great couple of videos about the house in NV.
@@BlackForestWoodCo Or you can just hire a wallpaper installer or painter that does wallpaper. Peel & Stick graphics have become more popular in residential applications recently. A good installer could have done that job by themselves in less than an hour.
Did good with the soldering, there's a company called rack-a-tiers that makes a little clamp system that'll hold the LED strips still while you're working. It's cheap and comes in handy.
For the vinyl, you should apply some soapy water in a spray bottle. Allows you to move the vinyl and stops the bubbles appearing. Eventually it dries up
@@BlackForestWoodCo Spray clear or base coat on the backing, this creates a waterproof smooth surface to squeegee the bubble to the sides when using soapy water, or just spray primer on and whip over with a sponge roller, this creates a bit of texture to help spread the light

When you solder, heat up the copper wire with the solder iron first. Don’t put the solder wire on the solder iron. Instead, put it on the heated copper wire that you hold against the solder iron. Heated copper wire will absorb and distribute solder wire evenly and will make for cleaner connections. The way you were doing it must have been a bit messy with excess chunks. Keeping the copper wire well heated is key. Great job on the whole project. Looks amazing!

I just found your company in my TH-cam channel stream- I can’t wait to try out some of your furniture oil and ceramic/graphene top coats on a couple of my current epoxy River table builds. Amazing install. I can't help but think about these integrated led strips though. Replacing lighting is also in the back of my head where I would like ez access for replacement just in case.

Before applying vinyl you should spray the furniture surface with soap water - and then apply vinyl smoothing it with a plastic spatula. This method will change your life in the future if you need to deal with the vinyl again.
Ive been designing high end commercial and residential interiors for more than 2 decades and I'd like to say - nice job it looks great. Having designed many back lighted features my only suggestion is that you update your knowledge of new LED lighting products, there are many peel and stick and laser etched back light surfaces available now that are reasonabley priced and will step up your lighting game in a big way.
Solder is better for the LED connector sites 👍 Full sheet laminate is better for the big surfaces - that foil/vinyl is a nightmare. They come 4 x 8 and 5 x 10/12 foot sheets and can be applied to 1/4" plywood panels in your shop, ahead of time - then set and installed on site. They also come in many colors and finishes to create the right backdrop-glow you want for those LEDs. Really nice work with the design and install!
Incredible build and install! Those chairs they put in front of your piece are a crime against humanity, but I guess you can't control everything in the home hahah
Very nice guys! Maybe you could use 22 gauge white powdercoated sheet metal instead of the white vinyl wrap. You could apply it with 3m double sided tape or an adhesive.
For the vinyl, you spray a little water (with a cheap hair bottle spray) on the surface before aplying so it prevents the adhesive to wrinkle too hard, then you swipe the water and the bubbles with a silicon spatula. Try it, it makes all the difference. (Sorry for the redaction, i speak spanish).
Wow. So nice to see the vision of "John the machine" to pitch such an idea of vertical uses of this craft one would normally see in a table top. Nice you got to work on it and show it off. The plastic film can be smoothed out with a rubber roller or a blunt plastic edged tool with rounded corners. There could be several tools that could do the job and even a plastic kitchen spatula could work. It should be very flexible and you flex down on the film and push out any bubbles and hold so wrinkles don't develop as you work it. If you get a tiny bubble you might pop with a pin and roll out. If you do an enclosed light feature like this again, try to plan a way that the lighting can be replaced without taking down that whole slab. Those LEDs will last a long time, but not forever. Someone could spill and liquid could seep under that joint from the bottom or drip from the top. From the top its impossible to clean out. That void should be detailed with sealant or screens to prevent bugs from getting in or entrapped. last thing you want for your clients and guests is to see a roach or ant crawling around on the inside of your feature, or have their poisoned dead bodies fall and collect and block one of those LEDs, making a shadow. Even the finest homes can have insect issues some time. I am not being negative, but you asked for comments and I'd be glad to see another one that's even better!
Stunning. I have question though. Couldn’t you paint the cabinet “back” white instead of wrapping it? I figure the result would be the same but the process would not leave you with bubbles in the wrap. Absolutely incredible finished product. 👍👍

They make solderless 90 degree clamp connectors for LED strips, may make installation easier in the future.
Incredible mate!🤌🏽
Thank you!
Magnificent work, just beautiful!!!
Thank you!!
Absolutely Breathtaking...
Sheppard Brackets for the win when doing floating shelves.
Amazing!! But I need to see it with the counter top!
We’ll have some finished photos soon!!
Amazingly impressive work.
Thank you Paul!
Incredible build and install! Those chairs they put in front of your piece are a crime against humanity, but I guess you can't control everything in the home hahah
Looks absolutely amazing beautiful work
Thanks Jim!!
STUNNING!! Incredible work
Thank you Karen 😊
Brilliant work guys! Absolutely beautiful 🥂🍾
Thanks so much!
Very nice guys! Maybe you could use 22 gauge white powdercoated sheet metal instead of the white vinyl wrap. You could apply it with 3m double sided tape or an adhesive.
Just amazing I just love what u come up with. Beautiful job u guys u are so talented the whole crew. Fantastic job!
Thank you very much Nancy 🙌
Nice one guys.
Thank you very much!!
Your comment was in perfect English don't worry 😁
And haha I knew it, I told the guys we needed to add water before applying it!
Amazing work! Would love to see some equipment/decoration in the area once the owner has fully moved in
Stupendous work, gentlemen.
Very cool that the drum sander is available for rent by local wood workers! Very reasonable pricing also
Was definitely worth the time to see! Nice work.
Beautiful work as always
Thank you 😊
Stunning. I have question though. Couldn’t you paint the cabinet “back” white instead of wrapping it? I figure the result would be the same but the process would not leave you with bubbles in the wrap. Absolutely incredible finished product. 👍👍
The decision to wrap the cabinets in white was made after the cabinets were already fabricated, but otherwise yes, that would’ve been much easier!
Try using vinyl that is used for car wrapping. These vinyls have air channels to make it easy to apply and can be stretched with a heat gun
Fantastic craftsmanship. That's not Charlie lol.
Thanks John! 🙌
