Late reply, but agreed! They wouldn't stand a chance against Laser Brad! Update from Brad: he said he actually used to box with Mike but he gave it up so a poor kid from Brooklyn could get the glory. Brad sure is humble 🤣🤣
I LOVE YOU GUYS! YOU ALL PUT YOUR HEART AND SOUL INTO YOUR PIECES! PURE MASTERPIECE AND HIGH CALIBER OF CRAFTMANSHIP!! GO HEAD, BLACK FOREST!!! WORK IT DADDIES!!
Very cool. Love the artwork idea. When I was in the store the other day I told your dad he’s the star of the show! lol I got a very humble response. A beautiful person he is. ain’t to many that can do what you guys have done! look forward to the next one!
WOW!!!!! Great video!!! It's always a pleasure to watch talented craftsmen display their skills. This is a wonderful piece of art used to display artwork. Thanks for sharing with us.
Boy, that's different, but that's also what makes it so cool. It's a fantastic job, guys ! With woodworking, it's very, very hard to do anything one off .someone somewhere has most likely done it already but when you add epoxy that changes everything. Great video guy's. thanks keep em coming
Masterminds at work - very interesting. This build must have been a Tums nightmare. What a beautiful and unique piece of work - very impressed. Stay safe.
the beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I see it looked really nice with the art work. Good job constructing the piece and it does what the client wanted.
Very nice table! I also think the artwork idea is cool. I just like to watch you guys make nice furniture and whether it's from wood or resin doesn't matter.
Heyyyyy!!!! Just stumbled upon this video. Worked for black forest years ago.... glad things are still going well. Shout out to Brad and Leszek..... Brad Levangie
That wa an excellent video. I believe this type of furniture will become more prevalent in the future. How much did it way? It looked like it took some intensive man hours to build. Have you come up with other designs similar to this one? I believe if you come up with more rough designs clients looking for that one special table will have more options and may push the envelope of the design. Great video. Thanks for posting.
Good question, I'll have to double check but I believe it weighed around 600 pounds or so! Yes, a lot went into this one! Even just trying to figure out the design for the base mould took a long time, but we luckily got it right! Thanks so much!
Love the table. It's so different from any of the tables you make. I like the resin base being lighter than the top. It looked great in the home setting. Art was to my liking, though. 😂
That table was _specifically_ meant for that piece of artwork. It gives off the vibe of being on one of those boats that have the clear window to see what's swimming in the sea. To be honest, I think it's nice that as a company you don't just work with one material exclusively. It's also a way to continue to be inspired to make new works of art in the future :)
So the Black Forest Epoxy Company? What a great table, very unique and a masterpiece of planning and construction. But where's the wood Wally? You Guys have done it again, great job. Cheers Michael.
Good morning 🌅 Black Forest 🌳, Great looking 👀 Table , well worth the effort, I have made some coffee tables over years, like a framed box with glass in the sides and one of the panels is hinged, so you can get into the box area to put Artifacts in, and then you can close the panel back up, The main part of the top of the coffee table is made of mahogany or some type of wood with a glass and set panel into it, So you can’t see the Artifacts, I have even made a miniature staircase inside a cabinet with glass over it, and on the staircase was precious stones, And even had a secret compartment in the back of it, Keep up the great work look forward to seeing your next project, Ps , I am suffering very badly from carpal tunnel syndrome, going under the knife this week, hopefully next year I might be able to start doing some work properly without having problems, mainly sleep at night, as I sit here doing this article, my hands are very, very numb, and gets to a point where my hands hurt, something new guys will look forward to later in life, 😮😂, i’m now in my 70s, from France.
It is super neat to see that other people are using automotive polish for epoxy finishing. IDK what you guys use specifically but the Meguiar's ultimate gloss enhancer polish is my favorite polish for finishing up a piece. I use a more abrasive polish through all grits of sandpaper I use just because I've found that better than sanding dry when doing small stuff. That and that polish I use to start with is cheaper and since I use so much of it it just makes more sense to use it. Even more so when the nice stuff would go to waste being used for 320- 10k grit anyway. I do polish with 10k twice though, once with the cheaper stuff and another time with the good stuff. IDK if I even really need to do that tbh before using 11k and 14k Zona paper but my masters end up looking so good at the end that they can even look like glass if it is a clear pour.
Outstanding table, painstaking and beautiful work. However I find the straight edges, 90 degree corners, and rigid rectangular dimensions of the art/window clash with the gentle curves and graceful organic shape of the table. Glad the client is happy though! 👍
How do you keep outdoing yourselves??!! Amazing work! Unfortunately I won’t be able to show this to my wife because there is absolutely no way I can replicate this! 😅
It looks fabulous! I have two functional questions: 1) is the top surface absolutely waterproof where the clear meets the frosted black?; and 2) Do you know if the epoxy is done outgassing? #2 is because the acrylic is safe for the artwork, but I have no idea if the epoxy is or not due to the possibility of any outgassing possibly yellowing the artwork over the years.
Neat idea. Table made for displaying art. I could see one making a version of this where you can readily swap out the display piece(s). Probably make it with mixed materials, however. Maybe like wooden frames...
Very cool, futuristic table maybe some led light strips would have made it look even cooler. I don’t agree with people in the comments who complain about using too much resin, resin is a very high quality material even Montblanc uses resin to make their pens.
@@piraterubberduck6056 Yeah we just had a giant pack of water bottles in the breakroom so we just used what we had on hand, but if we get more tables like this in the future we'll definitely be buying some gel packs!
I think it is a great idea. I think this concept could be used to display other items like diecast cars etc. And you can have any color resin table on top of it. I think it was a fun idea, hopefully someone else gets one to display something else.
We could have done that, but it would have less of a seamless look to it. Plus it being all one piece ensures that even if someone spills water or something, then it won't go under the glass and ruin the expensive painting
Thanks so much! All resin does over the years, but we have UV inhibitors and a blueish tinge to the resin to prevent it. So if it does, it will take a long time and it will be very minimal!
Frosted bottom surface really works for object of focus, the painting, rather than the table. Curious if you'll try this again with existing molding already perfected to make another table, just to be the art in itself as you usually do..? The square cutout for painting seems a little off with all those curves, so maybe on another similar "cousin" table you could delete that, or make it a rounded, symmetrically aligned oval if there is something else to be displayed like antiques, archaeological pieces like bones, or other non linear, organic items ? Not sure if an embedded item is worthy of all this... but maybe multiple tops could be tried out for different customers.
A CO2 laser chiller like the S&A 5000/5200 and a bunch of pex tubing would have made your cooling so much easier. If you ever revisit such a pour or similar.
I like the idea of displaying art in this way, and the final result actually turned out quite nice. My only issue with the table is that it's really quite ugly. I don't like the style at all, though as said, it did turn out better in place at the client's home than I thought up until the reveal. You did a great job with the whole project and I still liked watching your process and how you tackle an unique and challenging projects like this, but I am for sure a river table or just pure wood enjoyer over just resin like this. I don't mind you doing resin only work at all though.
A rectangular piece of artwork within an ovoid table shape doesn't really work for me. Client's call..... Good job by the boys. Can't even imagine how many thousands all that epoxy cost!!
I'm sorry, I can't help myself, sure, cool looking table, but what's the use if nobody dares place anything on it lest it leaves scratches? I'd have looked for a way to mitigate that, maybe with a protective glass surface. It would have increased the cost of the table, but the customer doesn't seem too worried about expenses. Otherwise nice work.
I guess money can't buy taste. Not throwing shade on your work at all, you guys do amazing work and the customer got what they wanted. Personally, I think the table look a bit tacky, being entirely plastic, and the artwork really isn't that great, but that's entirely subjective. I've never worked with epoxy before, but will it yellow over time after prolonged UV exposure?
@Black Forest Wood Co. Far be it from me to believe that I know even close to as much about "plastics" as You do. That said I do know that flame polished acrylics can (usually) become "susceptible" to (surface)cracks. Not immediately, but over time, OR if coming in contact with "volatiles" even ever so briefly (it doesn't even need direct contact, vapours can be enough). And though the surface cracks "usually" are not necessarily structurally catastrophic, as long it's not a "stressed part". They can still be quite catastrophic if they destroys the aesthetic quality of the "piece"... And so I would strongly recommend that You "looked into" (investigate, examine and test) the "Pros and cons" between '"hand" and "flame" polishing. Best regards

The skill and intestinal fortitude of the young men who build these incredible pieces is very very impressive. Congratulations !!

wow just wow....looks like something in the death star on star wars. I cant wait to call you when I'm ready for my custom table

This is one of the nicest pieces you guys have made without wood. Well it looks fantastic
I cant stop watching ? ... over n over .... Awsome Channel !
Excellent craftsmanship and beautiful table. Definitely a more modernist look for sure.
I was skeptical at first but once i saw the painting and the sofa. Beautiful.
Holy crap you guys. The things you do. I think it looks fantastic should be a frest conversation piece. Nice
Thanks Steve! It definitely is a good conversation piece!

Great job on the table.
Amazing piece of art,, well done team👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
Normally prefer the "randomness" of wood, but this looks killer, and the idea is pretty cool.
That's how we feel too! We were pleasnatly surprised with the final result!
Interesting concept. It’s a unique framework

Brilliant. You guys are geniuses
Thank you so much!
Magnificent!
If you filled the void with water, it helps to more efficiently transfer the "cold" to the mold
If there would have been a leak then it would have been a real mess
Epoxy resin and water are not friends, if there was a leak it would be ruined.
The risk of resin mixing with water is not worth it, but maybe gel ice packs could have worked the same way.
@@piraterubberduck6056 Yeah we just had a giant pack of water bottles in the breakroom so we just used what we had on hand, but if we get more tables like this in the future we'll definitely be buying some gel packs!

How you do the polishing? I am having an issue with a clear epoxy table. Already did the sanding to 2000 grit
Try wetsanding after 320/400 grit
@ always do that! From 240 grit up always wetsanding
@ no shine! You see through but not this effect of shinny glass
After all that hard work and then seeing the final installation, I'll bet you wish you were good at drawing fish.
very very cool table just wondering wouldn't it be cleaner if the window was a slab of glass instead?
We could have done that, but it would have less of a seamless look to it. Plus it being all one piece ensures that even if someone spills water or something, then it won't go under the glass and ruin the expensive painting

Will your resign yellow over time?

So interesting!
Very unique indeed, great job. I wonder what this craft would be called, as you can't really consider this one as "wood" working. Resinsmith ??
Very good question, I unfortunately don't have an answer 🤣
Awesome work!
Thanks Scott!
Thanks Dad 🗜️
That's cool!
Insane!
Stunning!
Thanks Evelyn!

You dont use the spray graphene/ceramics anymore, how come? Was it determined the wipe on stuff was better?
Wouldn’t the clear resin go yellow after a while ?

PHENOMINAL!!!!
Could a person use your ceramic coating on charcuterie boards?
You could, but then it technically won't be food safe anymore. But as long as you're not cutting anything directly on the board it's fine
