this video is so helpful! Hanna I'm on week 8 of your get lean stay healthy plan and I'm always learning! I'm getting so much better and stronger with my side lateral raises and thank you for pointing out not to go up on toes cause I do that when I start to struggle!
Always I am allowed to reference. I understood that posture was important. Train with care so that the form and posture do not collapse. Thank you so much!
You can keep your wrists straight and your elbows down at the same time. If your wrists are higher than your elbows in the top position you put less stress on your shoulder joints. If you only train with really light weights you can do them as Hanna suggests imo:)
Loved the video! A few things though... upright rows (no matter how strict your form is) are the best way to give you shoulder impingement! Also, using the pinkies up method during lateral raises will also cause major shoulder issues, such as impingement again which leads to injury over the long term. Thumbs up during lateral raises are a good alternative and so are high pulls instead of upright rows for shoulder health.

Don’t listen to this young lady , you will be sore but your also risking shoulder injury. Nobody does upright row anymore, is going to cause shoulder impingement, also side delts she doing that wrong too. Watch Jeff cavalier video he will help you do them right and safe. He a physical therapist and knows his stuff .

My goodness girl,where were you 30 years ago. I was going to a gym and lots of weightlifters started showing me how to lift weights right. I really benefited from their lessons. A few years ago when I went to the gym again I saw the many mistakes people make that you talk about. I tried once or twice to correct them but they probably thought I was an idiot. Your instructions give me the incentive to start up again little by little even at my age of 69. Yes I will take it slow and be very careful. With your lessons I can avoid injuries. Thank you Hanna.

Thank u so much! If I knew this years ago I probably wouldn't have the shoulder pain I do now. I used to be a ballet dancer an always had good posture. But when I started lifting no body ever told me about keeping shoulders down an back. Now its like training all over again. But I also notice, now that I'm lifting correctly I can really feel the difference! I'm actually working the muscle and seeing results alil faster. Now, I wish my lower body showed results as fast as my upper body. I know its a bigger muscles an takes more time but I'm not a patient person lol! Thanks again! Keep'em coming! ❤
Kelly Dukepoo also the upper extremities are generally leaner, showing gains more readily. Also the bigger muscles require more nutrition/protein and I think a lot of people are scared to eat more with the fear of gaining fat.
I love your focus on proper posture. I am going to really focus on that when I do shoulders as I believe it will avoid pinching in the shoulders. Also the pinky up rule and I am going to adjust my dB rear flyes so the dB are not facing each other, but head to head like you show! Thank you! I adore your accent and the way you say things lol! Yes I agree. I don't do gym anymore. I do weight training at home. Don't lift to heavy. I also do martial arts and rowing. It's much better than machines and will build shoulder and arm muscles. Hope it helps.

Hi Hanna, i have watched every one of your videos at least once. Thank you! May I please suggest two videos that everyone, especially me would appreciate. A chest and back focused exercise video that limits the biceps and triceps. I imagine it like the glute exercise videos that de-emphasizes quads for glute muscle growth. Another video could be perfect form performing the sumo deadlift and deadlift. My glutes were on fire and growing, I added an inch (ver 2.5cm) to my hips. I think I became too enthusiastic and pulled my glute muscle that required a one month break. Now that I am almost ready to go back. I would love to see an instructional video by you on how to safely perform these exercises. Great tips overall! But I would not do upright rows, or lateral raises with the hands leaning forward, since they internally rotate the shoulders. Internal rotation of the shoulders while using weights can lead to injuries and shoulder impingement. Several of my friends have had this type of injury, it's no fun. For the lateral raise, don't rotate your hand forward. Instead, bend forward and rotate the hand externally so that the weights are slightly leaning up, much safer :) Otherwise, I love your content and energy, keep the videos coming
