WHAT A MACHINE!!! Starting tomorrow morning I'll be away from my computer and hard drives for a couple of days. So it'll take at least one week until the next RAW Onboard video will be dropped on this channel. But here's what's still left to come: 1x BMW R1200R RAW (Penser Joch) 1x BMW F800R RAW (Jaufenpass downhill) 1x Ducati XDiavel S RAW (Penser Joch) 1x Ducati XDiavel S vs. Kawasaki Z1000SX (Jaufenpass, camera mounted to the Kawasaki) 4x Ducati Multistrada Enduro RAW (Jaufenpass, Penser Joch, Timmelsjoch) 1x KTM Duke 125 short RAW 2x Triumph Daytona RAW around 15x Honda CB500 PC26 (mostly shot in Paradise - northern Italy)
This was the video through i discovered your channel, 6 years ago. I searched it today and comparing back 2 back your riding aggresion seems to me that maturity takes over risk! Wish you all the best, i enjoy your videos while i appreciate your short reviews. Keep up!
I don't skip the slow parts. I enjoy visiting small villages in foreign lands. You are quite used to it I'm sure but to me...well I don't get to those mountains much :-)
That was really fun to watch so it must have been amazing to ride it. I could see what you meant about the low end torque at the beginning of the video as the bike surged forward effortlessly. Wow i wish i could have had a go on that bike but it's torque would have been unusable for me and my crappy spine. Fantastic video.Have fun and as always Ride And Speed Safe.
I`m in schock how fast my motorbike can go.Thank you so much for that incredible riding - lesson. My mistake was that i never used 1st and 2nd gear like that.Actually never used 1st gear .Did you had problems with highsliding by the brake of engine when you was switching from 2nd to 1st?It happened to me once and it was huge.....i think .You are always our favorite.
It's not a mistake not to use 1st gear. I just enjoy wrestling the bike a bit and that's why I change into first. But except for a few situations it's almost never necessary to use first
no worries mate. If you search on here for something like "best rendering settings for TH-cam" for whichever software you're using you should find useful advice too!
How’s the reliabilty on the 16’ looking at one now touring with valves and belts just completed 11k miles. Coming off GTR1400 need something lighter occasional touring and solo rides. It’s between this and the XR for me
Great vid, thanks for the upload. What is the square yellow box on your display at the start of the video, it goes away when you press the horn? I have never seen that on my enduro.
this was a warning to inform me that both my traction control and abs were operating in "enduro mode" (apparently this happens when you manually change DTC and ABS from level 2 down to 1)
Great video, you should just rename the title to: Tutorial: How to ride the Ducati Multistrada 1200 xD. If you ever have the change you should ride the Yamaha MT09 Tracer, the power and the handling are going to surprise you. Love the new sound effects btw.
thanks a lot Mike! At the same time people are giving me shit on here for high revving it. Why would I use a 160bhp bike if I never actually get into those rev areas where I actually have 'access' to those 160 horses... My habit of riding near the red line surely is useless on boxers etc. but I think it isn't on a Multi ;)
It surely isn't on the multi, the newer Ducati's aren't even powerfull in those low revs. People will always hate but I don't see those haters riding as good as you do ;). Ofcourse it also has to do with your riding style, I do the same thing when riding on bigger bikes cause I am used to my little 125. Except the time I rode my dads S1000RR the power is simply insane, but you got wheeliecontrol to back you up anyway 😋
Electronics my friend, my dads words: Mike just twist the throttle the electronics will kick in. He said this thing isn't even scary you should have ridden the first Yamaha R1 and I was like whaaaaa powerrr 😂
Another great video :D The thing I notice is that you play with shifter a lot since you have used to do it on CB500, but with this 1000+ cc bikes is it really necessary cause they have enough power and torque to pull out of corner without struggle. I have feeling that you would ride even smoother without this unnecessary downshifts. Cheers from Croatia :)
Two questions: do you know where the Multistrada has its power peak? And why would I want to ride smoother? I'm about enjoying the ride. I'm not trying to ride fast. I'm trying to have fun. And I enjoy it the most when I'm grabbing the thing by its neck.
I assume Multistrada's peak power is around 8k rpm but since its a V2 I suppose like all Vtwin engines it pulls great from a lower rpms so there is no need for excessive revs. I did not want to say that you should go faster or that now you dont drive smoothly, but I think that on big cc there is no need to play so much with shifter. I ride a 250cc so I know how much work it takes with shifter and revs to squeeze power from a small engine so i assume that is habit you have from riding your CB No hard feelings, continue with excellent videos :D Cheers!
the Multi has its power peak near its rev limit. You are very right saying there's a lot of torque available on all rev ranges. But it clearly felt the most powerful starting from 8K revs. And I like to sense this raw power. I don't need to ride a bike which provides ~140bhp at the rear wheel when I never use them. And those 140 are only available up in the high revs. Have you ever ridden a Multistrada yourself?
You drive so fast that I thought it was the "road" verson, not the Enduro one. You feel some difference about the wheels while you driving like that? And in general, do you know all the differences between the two versions of Multi? I know only the bigger tank on the Enduro (30), the seat a little bit higher, maybe 2 cm, I don't remember exaclty, and the wheels of course. The engine is completley the same or some difference even here? I'm asking you because I'm thinking to change type of bike, from my yamaha R6 to a Multi or a Yamaha Tracer 9, or an MT 10. Thank you in advice. PS: Sorry for my english, is not so good. Bye, ride safe. :)
I always think your CB500 sounds better and looks to ride better than any other bike you ride in your videos. The CB500 is a very underrated bike. Personally I think smaller engine bikes are more fun to ride.
Here is a good GS v. Multistrada question you can ignore for the sake of the comparison video. In your opinion, which bike gives more bang for the buck in terms of price, value and performance than both of the before mentioned and why is it the Africa Twin? :D
But here's the big question: If you were on a road you know extremely well, like the Ochsattel, would you be able to get from one end to the other fastest on the Ducati, or the little Honda?
since the Ducati is similar to ride I'd definitely be faster with it. On sports bike with different seating positions I'd be slower because I'm so not used to it.
That over exaggerated leg gesture, hahaha :D He mustve thought you were trying to kick him like in roadrash game :P At 11:18, was it a power slide? And brilliant video, as always! :)
Schaaf Haha i didnt even look at your clutch and throttle hand i just asumed it has Quickshifter because its bloody Multistrada and it has a lot of electronics but look like it doesnt have all bells and whistles
do you plan on going pro? you seem to master every bike and its freakin unbelievable! i havent masteted mine and hope to grow skills like yours someday. 😀
that is very nice of you to say but I'm only "pro" compared to most TH-camrs. I'm just a student who occasionally likes to ride bikes that is all. With 5K kms of riding each year I won't turn PRO in this lifetime ;)
I'd never be able to afford to do so. I only rented the Multistrada and the R1200R. The GS was a gift from my friends. All other bikes are borrowed from friends.
Um zwei Dinge vorweg zunehmen. 1.)
When taking these bikes out, fit your own peg bolts/bobbles before you do a fast run. Result = No more damage or expensive bills! just remember to refit the original footpeg bolts before you return the bike :)
I like your Disclaimer. Great riding at a safe speed. These new uprights are so easy to ride. The BMW Multistrada same people use on track for an occasional track day. I do believe your right with there's just as much fun to had with 50bhp as to 160bhp. Coming from a Harley Fatboy with side steps I had so much fun chasing people on faster., better bikes and it really taught me how to use all my side of the road and lean angle. Two sets of side steps I went through and 186 000 klms of utter fun. Now I have a MT-10 that's wicked and fast and does everything so well and easy. The Fatty you earn her respect. I have a few goods vids of her and she was the best at drifting in the wet out of all the bikes I've ridden. Cheers
now all we have to do is wait to see the 2016 version of this bike to turn up on the used market for a price, that gets nearly covered by selling my left kidney and and maybe some portion of my liver and a lung.

I must say mate, you are a skilled rider etc, but jesus, take it easy some times, will ya? :D one day you gonna fly off that railing, all the way down the "pit" so to speak :)
you have no idea how this feels to me. Still I appreciate your concern since you managed to write it down without immediately calling me mean and disgusting things.

oh yes I 100% agree. Actual dream of mine to get to ride one for a day once!!

I rode one of these at Motorcycle Live 2016 and was VERY impressed - also, suprised with the hill start function :-)

I always think your CB500 sounds better and looks to ride better than any other bike you ride in your videos. The CB500 is a very underrated bike. Personally I think smaller engine bikes are more fun to ride.
this Multi would sound very impressive on video with Termignoni probably :)
Rawr power 😍😍😍 enjoyed it💯👍
thanks Keith!
I still miss the BMW R1200GS RAW onboard... And then some fast (Schaaf) driving ;-)

yup!

Holy sh*t that accelaration and speed on straights and easy corners

@@Schaaf thanks, great video 👍
Big like for Ducati !!
yesssss
did you say it scrapes the ground? Not good. Your "exclusive pictures " are all over google images
it did on grippy tarmac. I'm very sure with a different preload setup it wouldn't be an issue any longer though
Oh, der Jaufenpass. Den bin ich auch letztes Jahr gefahren. Da war aber nicht so schönes Wetter, da war Schnee und Eis angesagt.
uuuiii :(
You should do pikes peak next year!! Winner 👌
I'd be happy not to finish last ;)
Incredible how is that multistrada!! Nice...
yes indeed!
Is it just me or that Quickshifter isn't really smooth? First to second shifts sound a bit painfull
that's mainly because it has no quickshifter at all
Schaaf Haha i didnt even look at your clutch and throttle hand i just asumed it has Quickshifter because its bloody Multistrada and it has a lot of electronics but look like it doesnt have all bells and whistles

The sound is freaking awesome 😊
I agree! Thanks!
love that disclaimer!
100% the truth! ;)
