As I watched this I thought "He is an accident waiting to happen". I then read through some comments and realised that you had a nasty accident after this particular video hade been filmed. I'm sorry to hear about that and hope that you make a full recovery. Whilst you like to ride quick, you are riding at 9/10 or even 10/10 of your ability, the problem in doing so is that it leaves you no margin for your or other motorists errors. I too learnt the hard way, thankfully I walked away after an accident 20 years ago. There is an old saying, "You can steal a mans wife......but you can't tell him he's a bad driver" Many times our ego tells us how great and invincible we are.......until we learn in the hardest of ways
Got clickbaited to the video because of the thumbnail and I recognized the road! Was there last year, was absolute pleasure, true riding heaven going back up the mountain through this road! I actually went to Austria overall because of your Austrian Snake video! Thanks man! Brought quite a bit of joy and eagerness to get back on the road during cold Lithuanian winter.
I'm finally coming to your country and drive those roads for myself. You've made me feel jealous for too long a time. The scenery, the roads... In 2 months i'll be taking my new superadventure through europe to get me some mountains and corners. But don't worry, if i see a little honda coming up i'll move over like a good boy. Compliments for the great content.
Hahahah that would be awkward, He would get tickets for a live sentence.. or maybe they would ask a sticker and autograph!! Awesome vid man as always R.I.P. \m/ Ride in peace buddy
Your driving is insane man, seriously, but insanely good. And what I find the most interesting, your ride doesn't really matter: With your little Honda you wouldn't be that much slower than with this one, really. Keep it up!
Oh boy...that was more like flying than riding. Sometimes You are so close to the rocks....great skill. And I love that display going to night mode in tunnels. :-)
Nobody marked or showed or blinked at you that there are cops up the road? Eh ... Love how the dash changes color when going in a tunnel and coming out :)
There was a RV, a van, a car and a truck there, just before he was stopped and he wasn't even passing them at some great speed. Although it wouldn't matter, because the cops were looking at him from across the other hill. But still, too bad nobody flashed him for cops ahead :)
There are so many times when you don't have good control over the motorcycle. Going fast is one thing. Being able to control the bike at speed is another. I second the other comments on here about 'taking it to the track'...if you don't fully respect your own life, at least respect the lives of those around you. I've ridden that route too. weil mich die Probefahrt-Konditionen der Händler nicht interessieren.
I somehow don't get it. This RAW shows me riding in a rather reserved manner actually. It's the punishment you get as creator for using a clickbait title apparently
Hey Schaaf, your videos are getting a lot more popular! Well done mate. I take inspiration from you on my videos. Keep up the good work! BTW, love the slow bits as I can see the interesting towns!
they are not really unfortunately. I was just curious to see how clickbait inspired titles would affect the views. Although I refuse to call my thumbnail and title clickbait because in contrast to actual clickbait in my case you get exactly what the thumbnail promises.
I watch your videos because I know your honesty as a youtuber (and a biker)... but these days we all know clickbait seems to favour the youtubers, which is sad. Anyway, wound continue to watch, regardless if you experiment with clickbait or not.
Let me explain a little from a viewers perspective. Use clickbait, it works. But deliver on your promise. If you put a thumbnail or title that lies to me and makes me click on it without delivering on that promise, I will be upset. In this video, FROM HEAVEN TO HELL IN 1 SECOND, I can relate, you're going through a lovely tunnel and suddenly cops. This is completely fine to use clickbait for. It's the lies people get upset about. Clickbait without showing the goods. Keep it up bro, you've always made awesome vids.
This is such a dumb boring question, but I just bought a CB 500 today, and I'm having trouble leaning it to corner faster, I don't know if it's just my lack of experience but I can't seem to push it over all the way to the pegs scraping on the ground like how you do. I tried counter steering which seems to make it go over quicker, but not all the way over yet.
Schaaf Ah that makes me feel better then, I thought it was just me being scared. I'm gonna go for a quick 2nd ride and coffee before work tomorrow morning and maybe pop into Jordan's for a wheel chain. I guess it's just a case of getting a feel for how far to lean at what speed, too slow and it's like you're going over, but put on power and it seems to sit back up and push out wide. The engine's great though, especially after about 7000 rpm, it seems to have this secondary vetch shove and not even on full throttle.
Schaaf, do you feel better than this morning? (Yes, that's totally unrelated to the video which is as awesome as the others - excepted for the end of the ride).
LOL, shit happens dude!!! Always cool watching your vids, love your skills (almost like max Wrist LOL)!!! Your dashboard is something beautiful at daylight and at night/dark. Continue! Cheers from Portugal
I’ve been stopped over 40 times now, but ticketed maybe 6 times. Taking responsibility and being respectful to people who are as he said doing their job, makes it easier on both parties. Most of the time you will get a warning and be sent on your way. I agree with the early intervention on this bike’s factory traction control settings.
Heya, Schaaf. If you don't mind me asking, what is it that you blur out every time you lean into the rearview mirror, as you did at 6:01. I see it in some of your videos and always made me wonder.
can somebody share, whats happen if you get caugh driving like this in austria? i like to ride this way and i live in austria, since i have never the pleasure, do i risk they remove my license or so? or you just paid a fine and you are on your way ?
The worst part is the lecture. At least in the USA the cops can give a Warning, either verbal or written, but there is no penalty. So as a result you have to listen to sometimes screaming abuse. Usually if the cop is screaming and he didn't have to chase you he will let you off. But sometimes he doesn't. So that's the problem...if you knew you were getting written up then you would tell him to shut up and just write the ticket. Which causes your insurance to go up as well. Expensive. But you just don't know. The worst thing is after putting up with the lecture and acting all sorry you get written up anyway. That REALLY sucks.
very interesting, thanks for sharing! In Austria I'd say it's not that uncommon to get away with a small fine or just a lecture - but in case they just warn you it luckily is not that much of an unpleasant thing to endure in most cases. Cause the ones who decide to leave out a penalty are also the nice and laid-back ones in most cases :D
Well, there is a reason schaaf is always blurring out the speedo above a certain speed and his face on every mirrorshot. while spirited riding as a concept isn't illegal, speeding is.
He wrote in the description that it was a ecu hack to show his speed more than it actually was and that the speedometer only when it sometimes showed his actual speed. He didn't exceed 86kph
Dude with all due respect, you are revving the engine too much. There's no need to stay in 2nd at 80 to 90 km/h, shift to 3rd, the V2 is a very torquey engine and you should take advantage of that. Moreover, conversely you were lugging the engine at the slow bit (around 3:15 +) going at 40 km/h in 3rd. You are killing that motor in this manner. If it was a test ride with low miles on the clock it's even worse.
the Multi has its peak between 7 and 8 K rpms which is where I was most of the time besides for a few excepts in which the second gear indeed was the wrong choice but it is no wonder since I had almost zero experience beforehand riding bikes which this kind of engine characteristics and almost zero experience with liter bikes. Many people simply wouldn't even be able to handle the Multi at its most powerful range. I didn't know though I was killing the engine when going slow in lower rpms, this sounds alarming indeed. Could you explain to me why it's damaging the engine?
It's called "lugging the engine". I copy pasted a relevant comment: "Lugging an engine is like hammering the engine parts with every explosion in a cylinder. It racks on the rod bearing/journals, makes the pistons slap the side of the cylinders hard, and if is done enough, could probably break piston rings. It also creates a hammer effect all the way through the drivetrain. There are springs in the friction disk (of the clutch) which takes up some of this hammering, but they will only take so much before they wear out as well. This causes premature wear all the way around. It's not like it will wear out tomorrow, but it will cause wear over time. If you want your car to last a while, you don't want to be doing this. I think the major problem with what you are doing is, you aren't doing it right. It sounds like you are just trying to take off from a stop (or slow roll) without revving the engine at all. You should bring the engine up in rpm to around 1500 to 2000 rpm when starting to slip the clutch. You should get used to slipping the clutch in either situation (stopped or slow roll) no matter where you are at. To get it down, you should press on the pedals like you would a bicycle. Basically, as you press on one, you should allow the other to come up, so: gas pedal down slightly while allowing the clutch pedal to come out; and visa-versa - clutch pedal down while allowing the gas pedal to come out. Over time and experience, this becomes second nature. You will figure out (mainly by feel) where the engine needs to be at in speed in order to get the car moving. This will keep you from lugging the engine at all. EDIT: Here is an Engineering Explained video about lugging your engine and why it's bad. He gets a lot more technical than I did above, adds to what I've said, but it definitely concurs with it (I believe)."
"You will figure out (mainly by feel) where the engine needs to be at in speed in order to get the car moving. This will keep you from lugging the engine at all. " That's the point. It didn't feel wrong at all. Besides a short moment where the revs dropped REAL low and I for once used the big capacity in my favor. I'm having a hard time believing that I damaged the engine like that because it didn't feel "luggish" at all but thanks for your help which wasn't that helpful after all because I was hoping that you'd be smart enough to explain the issue in your own words to me. My English doesn't seem to be well enough for understanding your copy/paste text completely :/
You would lug your engine especially if you tried to accelerate from low rpm in 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc gear. Coasting at a levelled surface or downslope isn't that bad. I'm not saying that you did damage your engine. I'm saying that it is a bad habit to develop and in the long run it'll be detrimental for the motor.
You told me I was killing the motor. I kind of did interpret this as damaging it. Sorry for that, English is not my native language. But since you seem to be an expert maybe you can help me with this too: why should I purposely use rev-ranges (not talking about the few moments where I actually was far beyond the 8K rpm mark, I get that this was useless in terms of power delivery) which provide less torque? I thought this was the point of a bike providing this much power?
hello.. as i already know you shoot the footage with go pro and Nd filter but can you tell me what setting did you use in this video? is it 1080p 25fps? tq in advanced
Awesome road, looks like you had a lot of fun on it without being too silly. Lucky to have such low volume of traffic on a road like that in good weather. Just a bit jealous! 😊
This was a fantastic video with twisties, speed, lean angles and then oh!!! How dare they put a stop to this wonderful flow of machine and man in harmony. I say they are the guilty party for bringing this superb video to a shuddering halt rather than the triumphant finale and slow wind down with a beautiful view or slow fade out. BASTARDS!!!!! As Always (Speed ssshhhh) And Ride Safe.
That was a great ride! If I was one of those policemen, I would congratulate you for your amazing riding skills and request you to send me the link of the video... 😉
Skill?? Any fool can ride fast ... how about his positioning right up to opposing traffic on r bends? This fast bad rider put many lives at risk in this single video. Not skillful. Not clever. not competent.
Hi Schaaf. I looked ur videos that feel very good to alp riders. Despite ur steering is good, when u jump to powerfull bikes U still downshifting at all times. This is unusual on modern 1000 cc. Expect to ride with u.
the Multi has its maximum torque available right below 8K rpms. That's where I was most of the time. I did it all wrong on the XDiavel but certainly not on the Multi.
Did you get penalised with anything? I love your videos by the way, they are very nice to watch. It’s kinda like relaxing but it’s also energising at the same time
.man you ride them roads like your on the Isle of Man TT ! Perhaps you should get the S1000RR , and have a go at it, I think you would do ok. Nice skill's..
in Südtirol/Alto-Adige people speak both Italian and German! I'm trying to keep these RAWs alive as long as possible, that's why. Feel free to send me a PM if you need to know more!
I guess its cause then he could be identified as the rider of the bike. And cause he sometimes rides a bit too fast, it might lead to problems with the police (via internet/ he filmed his own evidence). When he just sits somewhere next to the Honda, everyone else couldve ridden the bike.
@Schaaf, thats nice, I shouldve assumed that. @Maaaaaschine You really think the cops would go to the trouble of identifying the rider based on the partial face visible on rear view mirror? :) Blurring number plate is understandable as the vehicle can be booked for the violation. And also its not like Schaaf is doing a major crime here or outrightly endangering other road users so I honestly dont think cops would ever put all this effort. But anyways, I dont see any other reason and I dont want to bother you with PMs schaaf, so its fine :D
CodeNameABK here in italy 10 years ago an idiot got arrested because of the reflex of his helmet (which was a rare one) on the speedometer. He was much more dangerous than schaaf tho.
Those are the breaks, rode all the way to Poland & back only to be caught speeding through Glen Coe in Scotland a week later, ho hum.... i feel your pain.... hope you have a fine free new season..
Which motorcycle is next? :P I'm not really a fan of the Multistrada, the part with the speedo was hilarious though xD As a general thing: What's the limit on those mountain roads both in Austria and in Italy? In Germany I'd guess 100 as long as it isn't marked otherwise?
there's an urban legend saying that sometimes Italian police officers will treat you nicer when you're riding an Italian bike. But I'm pretty sure that's a thing of the past these days :)
Keep doing what you love, thrust yourself, respect yourself, don't harm others. If we were about to please everyone, we should be selling ice creams. Despite all this erratic and the worst ever riding style (keyboard experts whine about) I still see you leaving that safe margin. There is always room for improvements but I bet you ride the way you do for pleasure, not for effectiveness. Track offers something special though- competition. You might like it. Ride safe man 🤙
Oha, oha, oha.
"..they are not actually checking your speed, but rather your general riding style."
Schaaf, your general riding style is speed. :-)
my general riding style is 'mean lean' ;)

thanks for the comment
The final Multistrada upload is here :,(
Alrighty then...now how do I get my hands on an S model?
Are they very strict there mate? Unlucky end to what looked like a cracking ride
well at least they seem to make a difference between spirited riding and blind hooliganism.
I was going to say, that ride was fairly restrained by Schaaf standards ;)
it wasn't at all, very humane
What about the 950? :D
One of your best looking videos for my taste. The colours you did with ProTune.. just awesome! Keep up the good work :)

In Austria I'd say it's not that uncommon to get away with a small fine or just a lecture - but in case they just warn you it luckily is not that much of an unpleasant thing to endure in most cases. Cause the ones who decide to leave out a penalty are also the nice and laid-back ones in most cases :D
Is it you in the end? And if it is, then why do your blur your face while looking in the mirror?
Because it wasn't him riding :) *WINK*
+rapt0r knows what's up ;)
Hey! How do you muffle the wind noise in the camera? Thanks!
Probably a Mic behind him on the Seat
I don't understand what happened in the end. I read the description.. So do you get a fine for spirited riding? :)
Sauber Schaaf,läuft bei dir😂
Wer später bremst,ist länger schnell.👍
Stimmt, ist damals nämlich alles gut gegangen ;)
I copy pasted a relevant comment:
"Lugging an engine is like hammering the engine parts with every explosion in a cylinder.
Is this the same loud with ducati monsters 1200?
Less loud
merci bcp
hello.. as i already know you shoot the footage with go pro and Nd filter but can you tell me what setting did you use in this video? is it 1080p 25fps? tq in advanced
lol !
To u which is better GS1200 or Multistrada ?
Multistrada
Looks like an absolute awesome day on the bike!! Def bucket list ride.. Safe..
for sure it was!
I hardley ever see someone that rides as smooth as you 💪🏻💪🏻🤙🏻
thanks man
hellow sir, where do you wear your go pro? Are you using chesty? please tell me ...great videos by the way :)
On my helmet's chin
Awesome road, looks like you had a lot of fun on it without being too silly. Lucky to have such low volume of traffic on a road like that in good weather. Just a bit jealous! 😊
sure had!
i heard a sound a couple of times when you turning left. it's the footpeg scraching??
yes, and sometimes the aluminum pannier box too
Great driving skill. Sometimes it hits you...and all of us.!!!
indeed! Thanks!
As Always (Speed ssshhhh) And Ride Safe.
yes indeed! ;) Because right where they stopped me the most scenic part of this road starts!
That Grudging Sound😍😍
yessss
That was a great ride! If I was one of those policemen, I would congratulate you for your amazing riding skills and request you to send me the link of the video... 😉
tehehehe :D
Your Alias says it all!!!
Skill?? Any fool can ride fast ... how about his positioning right up to opposing traffic on r bends? This fast bad rider put many lives at risk in this single video.
Not skillful. Not clever. not competent.
Stu Revelle I would love to see a video of ur riding skills...cause u cannot appreciate people so at least show that u are better than them
You are haulin', and yet maintain good lane discipline. Most of the other traffic seems disciplined, too.
Absolutely
Hi Schaaf.
I looked ur videos that feel very good to alp riders.
Despite ur steering is good, when u jump to powerfull bikes
U still downshifting at all times.
This is unusual on modern 1000 cc.
Expect to ride with u.
the Multi has its maximum torque available right below 8K rpms. That's where I was most of the time. I did it all wrong on the XDiavel but certainly not on the Multi.
how am I "abusing downshifting" when I'm keeping the bike's engine in its optimum power range?
hello? You still owe me a reply
Im confuse, what happen with the police? Why did he stop?
just told me to slow down
Awesome roads and scenery, the ending spoiled the fun a bit...RSM8
just a bit! Thanks Kev!
Schaaf Aaahh ^^
your thoughts about the mt 09?
it's still wild, proper fun bike. Not very refined though.
How long were you detained?
not at all
Nice ride
thanks
Did you get penalised with anything? I love your videos by the way, they are very nice to watch. It’s kinda like relaxing but it’s also energising at the same time
what happens in Italy stays in Italy ;)
Schaaf oh no. 😝
pure gold!
thanks
.man you ride them roads like your on the Isle of Man TT !
Perhaps you should get the S1000RR , and have a go at it, I think you would do ok. Nice skill's..
thanks but I would never be able to use the full potential of a bike like that on the road
what a wonderfull place! where is? Compliments for driving control.
check the description! Thanks
Locked it great riding skills great roads great vids loved it carry on
thanks Chris
10.05 the power
Police said:malzeit liebe Schaaf!!!
something like that, lol
So how do you compare this to R1200GS?
Haha, kidding :D
Nice video to watch as always! And how did you talk to those cops? You also speak Italian?
And I have another question Schaaf, why do you blur your face when you look at it on your mirrors and dont blur anywhere else? Whats the secret :P
in Südtirol/Alto-Adige people speak both Italian and German!
Those are the breaks, rode all the way to Poland & back only to be caught speeding through Glen Coe in Scotland a week later, ho hum.... i feel your pain.... hope you have a fine free new season..
looking good so far! ;) Thanks mate!
Warum? Weil es mir Spaß gemacht hat. Ich habe nicht versucht, schnell zu sein.
Which motorcycle is next? :P I'm not really a fan of the Multistrada, the part with the speedo was hilarious though xD
As a general thing: What's the limit on those mountain roads both in Austria and in Italy? In Germany I'd guess 100 as long as it isn't marked otherwise?
Also: on what basis did they stop you? Did they clock you right when you left the tunnel?
It's in the description.
Curve Ahead yeah, already saw it, thanks
whichever bike I can get my hands on :) In Italy the limit would be 90kph on those roads
What's the Ducati bonus?
there's an urban legend saying that sometimes Italian police officers will treat you nicer when you're riding an Italian bike.
Ride safe man 🤙
thanks a lot man. Only people who understand a lot about riding are able to see what you're seeing.
What‘s the exhaust set?
stock
Did you loose your licence?
maybe
@@Schaaf I hope not... i had that once. Not fun
aiaiaiaiai no me gusta
So how much does an "unplesent general riding style" (not my words, quoted from the video description) cost in Italy? :D
Stay safe!
~Scony
just a strict warning ;)
We've all been there, so we know the pain ;-)
;)
Nice road, What country is this? Love it 😍
Italy
nice machine! Just turned 197.000 on my st2 😀at 13:30 when you shot into that shadow ! made my bung hole pucker !
it was a rental for a day though :/
Bro u so lucky , u get to ride so many good bikes ..
🍻🍻🍻
what's lucky about paying to rent a bike?

Cool road, cool ride !
thanks Pedro!
