I’m still using my Harmony One remote from about 15 years ago and it’s still going solid! Logitech really make amazing remotes, only had to change the battery about 8 years in and it’s still awesome. I did try that small harmony remote ultimate with the iOS capability but sent it back as the One is just amazing. Wish they’d bring the buttons back on a logi remote

You were spot on with everything. I have an elite remote and love it. With the touch of one button it turns on my tv and surround sound system and dims my lights.

Great video. Thanks. I too have had Harmony remotes for 15+ years now. Recently I bought the Elite but we seem to be having a problem with our Directv box (C61K-700). We have it set for IR. We have the hub and two blasters up with the receiver pointing away from the equipment to bounce off of the walls. My wife says that she seems to have better control from the couch then her chair which is only 4 feet over but still in line with the equipment sitting on open shelves. I had her use the Elite to control the Directv box then use the Directv remote (RC73) and the Elite seems to be slower to respond. One of her main issues is with fast forwarding during playback of a recorded show. She will hit the fast forward button then hit play but sometimes it plays and sometimes it continues fast forwarding and I can't figure out why. My thing is that I have 4 IR transmitters; the remote, the hub and 2 IR blasters which should all be putting out IR signals (in sync from one source - the hub) and the remote is communicating with the hub using RF so it could be in another room and never matter where it is being pointed as long as the other 3 sources IR signals are reaching the equipment. I love the Harmony remotes but this is frustrating. I know that there is an answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul

Lots of useful info. Thanks. 2 main questions I have though:
1. Do you need the Logitech Hub if you get the remote or does the remote take its place? Depending on that answer, do I only need one hub for the entire house or do I need one for each room I want to have the TV and all controlled by?
2. Are you able to set the remote to control multiple TV in separate rooms? For example, can I set up the livingroom as room A with all of my electronics there, then have my bedroom as room B with everything there and my gameroom as room C to control everything there? If not, is there an option or something you would recommend for that?

Just watched your very good video of an awesome product. I have been using Harmony remotes for at least 10 years and love them. My wife especially. Once setup - especially in an environment with many devices to control - it can be a marriage saver. That said, I just bought the Elite and have it set up for the existing equipment but wondering if and how it can be set up to control Insteon and Wyze home automation devices. Thanks, Paul
Alexa can control the wyze and you can dictate commands on the alexa app with the harmony smart still and add those other wifi devices to the moods and activities. Sort of complicated but you can make it happen.
Thanks for the video. It’s really helpful. I’ve been using URC remotes for about 15 years. I love the feel and they’ve always done what I need them to do. The guy I bought my MX 780 from gave me the software so I could program it myself. But now after almost 10 years, the lcd screen on my MX-780 is slowly dying. I need something new. Most new devices use a Bluetooth remote and can be controlled by WiFi. Can the Harmony take advantage of Bluetooth and WiFi? If a universal remote has 2-way communication with a device I would imagine it could do a lot more, and even provide feedback on the remote. As much as I love my URC remotes, I hate their business model. No installer is going to come to my house just to add a new ROKU to my remote.

Will this work for a 2x2 video wall to control each tv separately even if the TVs are the same model?
Are the buttons back lit and does it have a remote finder function? Two things that seems easy but most remotes don't seem to have.
This looks like what need. I had an installer who couldn’t connect my LG remote to run my cable box or A/V receiver. He programmed my cable remote turns on and off my TV, cable and a sony A/V receiver at once but I had to use the A/V receiver remote for the volume. Naturally I had to use the LG remote for Netflix etc and any setup changes. Will this really eliminate three remotes?
Now that Logitech has said they are going to discontinue making universal remotes would you recommend another brand for a great remote with easy set up. We had RTC remotes at our old house and they were a disaster. Had to hire someone to help. And they never seemed to work seamlessly. Thanks!
Great video - Been using Harmony for years now, excellent remote. The only gripe is the lag from when you press a button for it to respond on the device - it would be nice if it responded like an original remote where its instant
True... it does if you put the TV in IR mode vs hub.. remember it is all going from remote to hub to devices. But some activities do take a bit
@@BTheInstaller It's not the activities as they do have a lot of commands to send out - It's the scrolling through or even changing the channel compared with an original remote its slower - I have done quite a lot of testing on this problem also contacted Logitech about it. If you stop the commands coming from the Hub so all commands come from the remote it doesn't make any difference - Apparently the 2400 pro is faster but not found anyone that has done a speed comparison with them both.
Mine works fast enough in IR or hub. I may not notice as I've used for years. Their overall benefit is good for me even if a little delayed. We voice activate our commands for the most part but its a great remote
I'm wondering if they are getting ready to come out with something new, as a lot of places show this as discontinued. I just started looking for something that would work with Amazon Fire Stick and this seems to be the only one that will. You know something we don't?

for the most part, you won't. sometimes tvs don't cooperate with the Wifi on/off, so you'd need the hub in sight if you can't wifi OFF the tv. but i have my hub external and it hits the IR
Thanks. My URC MX500 keep getting disconnected from the base so it reverts back to the home screen and does not control anything. I have a friend in the system and programed my own (WHAT A PAIN) anyway this helps
I have a harmony elite remote with harmony hub and would like to control sonoff 4ch pro R3 relay set. What would be an easy way? I’ve seen Paul Hibbert’s video with about three intermediate services and it makes my head spin. There must be a simple solution?

Great Video and good info. I watched your video on the Samsung Q80T and Q90T TV's and purchased one. I then subscribed to your channel because I like your content.
I own two Harmony remotes, 1-compainion that I used to have in my dedicated theater. I now have a C4 in the theater now. I also have a elite in my family room. As long is it stays synced and on the same wifi network (2.4ghz) only it works great. It goes out of sync and you have to re-sync the remote with the hub. I know some people don't like the icons that shows on the remote but you can download the correct icon for your device or activity off the internet and upload it into the remote. I have a Logitech/icons folder where I keep them all and upload when I change things around. I have mind controlling the following devices. I was use to the favorites channels when I have direct TV but none for Tivo.
Panasonic ST30 65in plasma TV - Soon to be replaced with Samsung Q80T 75in TV. I don't know if the elite will be able to control the new TV and all of the smart APPS on it though.
Panasonic blue-ray player - will be replacing with OPPO 203
Pioneer SC82 AVR - will be replacing with Marantz AVR

The plan is to soon replace the elite with a Control4 EA1 Controller and the existing C4 remote that I have but not using. This will allow everything to work flawlessly without the occasional (The tivo won't turn-on) from the family.

Thanks. I don't get a lot of control 4 clients that enjoy that much work on a regular basis. A lot of people are leaving those for harmony elite.. and yes it will control the q80t easily.

You only need the hub if you have things hidden or want wifi and Bluetooth. If cable, sound bar and TV, you really can do it all with cable remote. But yes

You don't need the remote. You can use the app. But it doesn't feel right using an app to control a TV because there are no physical buttons. I've never been able to get used to it. A physical remote feels more natural.

Harmony Discontinued? I have Apple Mac laptop and it seems Logitech just stop supporting this remote and I can't get this remote to upgrade or do anything. I know it could be me not understanding how to use this remote, but I am a little frustrated with it. Can I reset this remote and start fresh? Will this remote work with Spectrum remote, Bose remotes?

What do you use now that they don't support or sell them anymore?
So to get this to work I needed Tech help because neither the Mac or PC software worked for me. The syncing errors drove me crazy. The USB port would work then it wouldn't read it. Changing the port would sync for 2 seconds and error out. Ugh! After being on the phone for nearly three hours for tech help I ended scrapping my activities and started from the beginning. Do not pull the cable to check your activity. Do them all at once! If there are any hiccups the remote will fix it on the fly. Nothing turned on in the beginning but if you go to the devices on the remote it does fix the problem. Happy camper now!

I ve had the Harmony for years now and love it.
Before, I Had a TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, Bose Cinemate, Cable and PS4. Harmony was super useful
Now I have a TV combined with an Apple TV and a Bose 700. I don't need the Harmony anymore as I watch exclusively the Apple TV and it's remote does everything. One click switches the Apple TV which switches the tv and Bose. I keep the Harmony because of Alexa capabilities. I'll get rid of it when Apple TV becomes Alexa compatible.

Yeah I loved the samsung remote for everything too. I have it for the alexa and hub capabilities and because some dude broke my apple tv remote. But it comes more handy for using on the game systems. Many time the kids have controllers all over the place... and for people with AV systems, it is nice

The apple tv only has like 8 functions so it is easy to replicate. To bluetooth, i had to add it as a generic apple device. But other devices wifi and Bluetooth easier.
B - Nice video. Here’s my question; over the years I have purchased this remote (last time was approximately 3 years ago.). I returned it as it just did not control as I had expected. I just purchased an LG 77” CX Oled for my “theater room.” I had my installer run a LAN and toslink and 18K HDMI cable back to my rack and Anthem receiver so I can utilize the TVs 4K apps. How seamless, in your opinion, will the Harmony Elite integrate into this setup?
PS. My installer is a Control 4 dealer and I really don’t want to spend thousands on that platform. I just want my wife and kids to be able to perform simple function:)
Only if you have more than the tv and AVR. If just those 2 then no. But cable box, DVD player, gaming system? Want to voice activate it from other rooms. Then yes.

You are right no voice support. It does not control Tivo boxes very well either. Loses sync with hub to often. It does control Samsung smart TV's though. If you want to control smart apps It does this thru devices not activities. Just tap Devices then look for the home button. Also no more live customer support. They will always direct you to their website. Also you may not know this but if you have more than 1 hub in your home and want a separate account/email for each hub this is not supported or recommended. I've had my elite for my FR setup for the last 3 years. If you want reliability get the Pro version or step up to C4 or Savant. No more sync issues. I had URC MX900 in my dedicated theater complete with base station and bridge w/ir blasters that work flawlessly for 7 years until the buttons on the remote wore out.
So if you are looking for reliability then Elite Pro or C4, Savant, URC may cost more but will always work.

I’ve got a persistent problem with my Harmony Elite. Whenever everything is off, no matter what activity I select, the remote always chooses my Nvidia Shield. I’ve tried deleting the activity and reinstalling it but the same thing happens. Anyone have same issue? Apart from that it works flawlessly so it’s quite annoying.
I do not have the Elite model but just the harmony remote with the hub. The only issue I have had is when my internet goes out and then back on, not all my buttons work to control the functions like they did before. And it is difficult to get it all working again, usually it takes me 2 days to finally perform the correction. What ever that exactly was!
I also have an Alexa but I have not been able to get it to connect and control my Harmony functions, something about not on the same account!
If you have a spouse who has the main Alexa account, make sure to link the exact Amazon account that runs the Alexa stuff tot he logi app

Can you make a video on how to setup control for two different rooms at the same time, like if I want to watch tv in room 1 and my wife wants to listen to music in room 2, I want to be able to switch between the 2 zones and control them.

If you have an AVR with zone two, you have to add it as 2 devices. Avr and avr zone 2. Then set the power options to stay on until you turn them off and then when you press listen to music on zone 2, the Back to watch TV, the zone 2 should stay on until you press off for all
Hey B - big fan of yours. Is there a trick to setting up Harmony to control PC; specifically wake/sleep? Also, just got the Facebook Portal TV...is this thing event compatible w/ Harmony?
Don't know either off hand. Normally you can search the product and harmony and info will appear... or not.
@@BTheInstaller Re: FB Portal Harmony app says “not supported” because the device/remote communicates via BT using my WiFi/Eth connection. I know Harmony supports BT...my only guess is it does so only with connections, not BT remote commands. Please let me know if I’m missing something...
@@BTheInstaller Re: PC/media device, I CAN get it setup and working, but sleep/shutdown breaks the connection and disables the driver and I have to manually disable the driver and re-pair Harmony. Also, only BT connection seems or work, USB can connect to PC for power and to download the Harmony desktop software, but USB connection doesn’t allow for remote command unless BT is connected. Ive heard FLIRC and sending/setup of magic packets could work but haven’t been able to find anything definitive. Please let me know if you’ve heard otherwise...
Have you heard of anyone having problem with vizio tv model v755-g4 and the input sequence? I’ve got this remote set up and working but it always goes to wrong input. I’ve played with settings and tried all of the different ones for input, like in settings toggling or direct. It seems like may be it could be because you have to push it once for inputs to come up then it cycles before choosing, but I would think that’s how most TVs are. I put them in the right order and unchecked the ones that shouldn’t be there.
Yeah you can keep trying that. You can customize the sequence too on the remote.
Just watched few months late but I am planning on getting a logitech harmony companion with hub and would just like to control my projector,bluray,roku ultra 4800r/x and smart plug no activities for ex i press one button it turns to the projector remote press another it is bluray same for the roku ultra and smart plug what is the easiest way to do that
Yeah the elite has a little more functionality. I like harmony and use many different brands of lights and switches and they seem to do well together.
Now that Logitech doesn’t produce remotes anymore what are the alternatives?

I have one hub, companion, & 950. Hub is in LR where I use the 950 for LR home entertainment. Companion remote to be used in BR for TV with LR DVR or TV with BR Roku. I have set up each remote with the harmony desktop app, however, the hub keeps wanting to sync with the remotes swapping the set up. I haven't been able to get the companion to work at all in the BR.
The 950 can set up without the hub. But you can't share hubs. The hub is to relay the info of 1 remote.

I was was under the impression that it could handle two remotes as long as only one of the remotes had a touch screen... but 950 and Companion would work. This was copied from Logitech's support on compatibility and upgrades...The hub is the center of Harmony home entertainment control and works to keep your devices and other Harmony components in sync.
Harmony Hub accepts one remote of each type:
One touchscreen remote (Pro, Pro 2400, Elite, 950, Ultimate, Ultimate Home, Touch, Ultimate One)
One screen-less remote (Companion, Smart Control)

Question im setting this up for a side job as I do some HT installs on the side. This is my first time setting up a Elite. Can I set this up using my IOS device then hand it off to the customer? or do I have to use the customers device to set up?
Use a computer to set up. Way easier. But if you plan to
Use your device or not... Create a log in for them in their home, then hand it off and show them how to use the remote. They won't have use for the computer app. But you can if you want to make a little more money or have less communication after. Just remember to show them the help features. I normally make an email write up on how to do the activities and get into a device if needed. That email saves headaches.

On pc it asks if you have a hub based remote or not, I chose not even with a hub and it then allows you to proceed.
I have an ageing Harmony One. Would the elite be the next step? I have TV, AVR, Roku, and gaming consoles. Also any smart plugs that could control my TV backlight?

I enjoyed your video. I have a disability. I am not able to move my hands at all. Everything I do, has to be done with my voice. I wanted to know if the harmony elite would work for me in controlling my audiovisual equipment. Can I change the channels with my voice with the harmony elite. I have not been able to determine that I could or not, after watching countless videos. Any help you give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Does anyone know if you can replace the Harmony IR emitters with 2.5mm cables and use them in a TV or AVR that has the remote in jacks?
Possibly. Why? Wifi tvs van vonnect direct... things in cabinet get blasted with signal from hub and mini hubs giving you a lot of options.

Can you use more than one harmony hub with a remote? My basement tv setup has a cabinet that I have my receiver and amp on one side with a PS4 and Xbox one console on the other side. In the middle I have the Directv client. Can I buy a harmony elite and link two harmony hubs to the remote? I tried to do some google searches but couldn’t find anything. That is when I thought about getting the harmony pro because I can use the multiple IR emitters to control everything. I currently have a URC remote that I programmed over 10 years ago and want to replace with something I can control. I recently bought a 900h and Sony str-1080. I really enjoy watching ur videos. For PS4 yes it will control it but you have to pair it (step when you add ps4 device in harmony controller)
HELP ME PLZ. How do I program Elite control Apple ATV4K AND audio/volume controls on a BT speaker (w/no remote)?

The apple tv needs to be called a generic apple device.. there is something online about it. Apple Bluetooth device of some sort so the. The harmony can find it Bluetooth.

I fixed the ATV audio control issue by adding a Windows pc device and connecting ATV BT, then remapping volume keys via IR from my previously configured PC activity.
Also, got Facebook Portal to work (unsupported Harmony BT device/remote) using a similar method, except in FB’s case, I used “Nvidia Shield TV” to connect BT and control FB remote.

I do have my hi-fi set up some of my devices are at least 20 years old will this work for me. Personally I have Jerry rigged my set up to where I only need about four remotes and my iPhone. I just would really like to try and simplify my hi-fi and my smart home set up
It runs with most things that have IR or RF Bluetooth. Just search up the name of your item and harmony.

I did have harmony one batteries that expanded. Yes. Many of the customers had that.
So what is there now that is not out of sight expensive? Control4 halo looks good but expensive...
Sofabaton x1 is close but yet far because of crappy firmware.
Does this work with Netflix and the internet browser on the Xbox one x or just with the smart apps on the tv itself?

You can maneuver. It's not exact but I'm not a big fan of the apple remote. Many avoid the apple remote. No voice either.

I believe it should be able to control the volume. Not sure what else it would do for you on that. Surely if it does, it would have the relevant basic buttons on the touch screen.

No.. that has it's own gyro that works with the tv.
No microphone, so no full integration with apple tv and samsung remote

You got lucky, every remote I have bought from Harmony all failed or were just POS like my current Elite. It has a mind of its own and is so frustrating.
Wow, unlucky!! My Harmony 1000 lasted 5 yrs!! My Elite now is 6yrs old and going strong...just need to find a “good battery replacement”.

@@randym7976 I found this on Aliexpress: Cameron Sino 1300mAh Battery 533-000128, 623158 for Logitech 915-000257, 915-000260, Elite, Harmony 950. (ChunChenXing-2 Store). It was $18 cheaper than a local supplier(which he's probably ordering from CN anyway!).
I did however go into the remote settings and put all touch & display settings to minimum and the battery is lasting much longer! Still going to replace it though. Hope that helps. ✌️
Is there an HDMI switch that you recommend for the Harmony Elite?
I used monopriced equipment before and it worked well with the harmony products.

Logitech has discontinued making Harmony Remotes, but said they will continue to support them...but for how long? What’s the next best solution?
Most people are able to do a majority of the same stuff with cable remote or just using the tv remote connected to a AV system or sound bar. It was a niche product.

Technically yes. You'd have to have them be different tvs and different products connected. Like 2 cable boxes or same 2 tvs would cause them both to turn on. Unless they're connected via wifi... its not likely going to be as smooth as you'd want but possible.
One is a smart TV and the other has roku, neither are the same brand. This would make it easier then correct?

Best way it to turn off all wifi item that your not setting up with harmony so its easy to connect a let it lot things in the real world take time to load.

My only gripe is that sometimes I end up switching back to my Roku remote because the harmony gets pretty sluggish when controlling my Roku on occasion.
for me the best is 12 yrs old harmony 525, ppl sell 'em for $10, and i have zero reasons to by more expensive more recent one. 525 are still supported (on win 10) and it picked up all of my 5 devices at home. why to blow money on these elite gizmos (and feed advertisers on yt who just crave for their amazon percentage pushing you into buying the newest models)...

Has Logitech dumped this model? I don't see any refurbs anywhere. Amazon doesn't have a new any available. The other sellers want outrageous prices. eBay seems to be a crapshoot. Best Buy doesn't have any in stores in central Indiana, but they area whopping $20 off.
