This is what all review videos should be like. An honest, unbiased where you actually review the item and not try to tell to the viewers to buy "this" one from "this" place. Very nicely done, just ordered one. Thanks.
what a great review, I live in the uk and if you go to a local garage in the uk, you will pay $60-£70 to have your car fault read, I have ordered 1 of these devices and think it will be very useful! thanks for taking the time to make this video, keep up the GREAT work.......
Got a check engine lite on so figured I'd pick one up. Said it was the mass flow air sensor. Opened up my air box to check and the air filter was sooo dirty. Replaced it ($20) and the error code went away, w00t. The worst thing tho is during my last 40k service at the "stealer" ship they said they replaced it. Obviously they did not as this thing looked like it was NEVER changed. What ripoffs. Thanks for the video. Best $12 I have spent in a long time. Cheers.
he he he, the stealer ship did the same thing to me. until I did my own service ( small polo vivo ) I was so black and dirty I always wondered y my Ac never worked and they said it's out of gas, ?????
My obd dongle won't turn on this time after three years. The red light is on as I plug in the obd port, but it won't turn green. Which at the beginning it would turn green and get connected to the car. Today the green light won't turn on, even tried on two to three different new cars. But the obd won't turn on either. Any idea if the obd is dead or good. Will be waiting for your response.
In my Toyota Corolla 2004 1.6 elm 327 device is connected in torque pro but doesn't respond with ecu and i tried doc pro and other apps all doesn't find protocol to connect ecu jow should i slove this problem
I have one of these & it worked straight away with the Torque app, although the app I used to clear a code was one called car scanner which cleared a turbo overboost code. The good thing with these is you can take your car to a garage & tell them what the codes are if you're unable to fix it at home I guess
I bought the device a week ago and it did not work on my SUV Daithasu Terios J200 year 2014 (Indonesian manufacture) gasoline engine 1.5 I never managed to connect to the APPLICATION TORQUE Pro, showed a message stating that the protocol was not compatible, I was told that it was possibly by the brand of cell phone switch huawei to the Brand Samsung , LG, etc. and the same message displayed in the TORQUE application that the protocol was not supported. Try other peer-like apps and displayed the same message.
Hi Thank you for the demo, I purchased this device and was delivered 2 days ago and connected it to my Toyota Hilux D4D and I am getting an error " not connected to ECU" do you maybe know what could be the problem? I did connect it to my wife`s Yaris though and it did connect to the ECU.
The two apps you used, torque and the car doctor app, which apps you like more than the others? and gives you better info?. I just bought the OBD2 and planning to buy one of the apps. Thanks
I'm confused on the going to the car inspection once the 1st error code came up, then you went to the inspector, passed, drove away and the 2nd fault code popped up? Or did you mean you figured out how much time you had from when you cleared the code to when it would pop up again and you utilized that knowledge to get the car inspected within that time frame. Also, couldn't you just unplug your car battery for 30 minutes, the code clears, do this like a block away from the car inspection, get the car inspected before the light comes back on? just wondering if that works too.
Have used this adaptor with torque pro app for about two days now with my 95 XJ6 and android phone. Seems to work fine, I'm still exploring all the settings and many uses for the app. Have to mention that it periodically looses connection and reconnects wich I can't see being a real problem and oddly as I have left it plugged in for constant real-time info the cars remote locking and arming facilities don't appear to operate correctly with the app still running. I'm not sure if this is an intended built in fail safe to let me know its still connected or an odd programming anomaly. In either event, after exiting torque Pro on my phone, everything appeared to operate correctly again.
I've used this same adapter to diagnose problems to repair on at least a dozen cars now through torque. The only thing I REALLY want is one that can read out abs codes AND/OR flash the ecu for tuning.
I'm in Australia I have a Toyota Camry 1999 Vienta MCV20r. I have bought 4 of these and after some research I found I had to have V2.0 or higher but I bought 2 which were V2.0 but after testing they were only V1.5 but I still couldnt pair any of them and I deleted all paired devices and made sure no other Blutooth device was within range and they all failed. I did try Torque and another free OBD reader app but still no joy. I am waiting for another one which I hope is V2.1 as advertised, I will try CarDoctor and CaRPM App as I have read they may connect where Torque will not.
I can’t find car doctor app anywhere in australia sadly I’m in the same situation as you let me know when u find one that’s works on your Toyota please
is it normal that Torque Pro can not read out speed data on a 2006 Peugeot 207? It shows it as an active sensor but when I put it on the display it doesn't seem to get any data from the ECU. Do you have to work with GPS data for speed on some cars?
wonder if you can help, ive got 2 of these elm327, both pair with htc one, none will connect to any app ive tried. torque blue car just keeps flashing, and car doc just keeps repeating protocol thing.
Hi, Recently I purchased an Elm 327 (Not the mini version) but it's not communicating with my car ECU. My car make is 2003 Toyota ist. Hi, good video, I got one of this OBD2 but I have really problem to connect it to my Ford Focus 2001. The problem is adapter can not connect to the ECU. Please could you help to solve that issue?
You can adjust the settings to suit the connection to your ecu so it connects to any car if you go through the different obd2 settings you will find one that fits your car some car require the engine to be running to connect
Hi! Thanks for a vid. Just concerned, there are other users who said that this fried their ecu. Can that happen? Is it safe to keep attached? Or better to unplug it while driving? Thanks again.
I tried using this on my 1997 F-150 4.6 v8. It doesn't work. I tried it on my 2016 Escape and 2004 F-150. It works on both just not the 97. My fuses are all good. Any Tips?
I own this exact device. I use Torque Pro. I drive Audi's/VW's (99-2005 1.8t's). This app and dongle will clear check engine lights and show codes. I you need to program anything VAG (VOLKSWAGEN AUTO GROUP), YOU NEED SOMETHING ELSE (VAGCOM, OR COMPARABLE). IF YOU DRIVE SOME OTHER OLDER CARS (ANY AMERICAN BRAND, HONDA, NISSAN TOYOTA, etc) 2005 AND OLDER, IT WILL NOT WORK!! Check the compatibility on the dongle and the app! just a heads up
I have a VXDAS Nexzscan in my vehicle: a 2007 Xterra. I was driving one afternoon when the Check Engine Light came on. My scanner determined it was my gas cap. Not only was I able to diagnose, repair, dismiss the code, VXDAS Nexzscan offers a subscription for personal use. It has features such as 40k DTC definition, retrieves generic,manufactures-specific and pending codes as well as vehicle information(VIN,CIN,CVN) .including the ABS/ Stabilitrak codes.and shows service intervals, what service is typically needed, average prices, and is able to find repair shops. VXDAS Nexzscan can show some live data as well. VXDAS Nexzscan cannot do a smog check nor show freezeframe data, but with my model year to fail a smog requires extreme wear in the exhaust or engine, which it has not come to.
I recommend buying a "autohil" brand, bout that used it on few cars work well and and easy, I sold it to a friend and then Bought two that look like the one in the video and it doesn't work in any car. And has trouble connecting to Bluetooth
[02:49] Thanks for the version information. I ordered this today before waching your vid but thankfully could cancel the order in time and now ordered one with the 1.5 firmware :-)
I can see you using Wi-Fi so that it connects and disconnects automatically while allowing you to still listen to music from your phone through your stereo. In fact, right now I'm listening to this video on my stereo so that I can hear it better,. I wouldn't be able to use this app while listening to a video if I had the Bluetooth
I would disconnect if you find the device getting warm or hot.. doesn't sound very reassuring.. However, if you want continued updates.. providing the device doesn't stay continuously warm/hot.. you really shouldn't have too many issues.
My cruise control wasn't working. Hooked up this baby: "Right wheel speed sensor". Sure enough, break in the cord in the wheel speed sensor. Spliced the wire. Works now.
This was a tip from the comments: Your obd SHOULD NOT be connected to Bluetooth BEFORE you open your car data app. The APP will handle the Bluetooth. 1 Now the Elm327 clone does connect to the Poco F1 it did connect earlier when i felt lucky but lost the connection also. Now i just tested this at my Hyundai Sonata and it was stable. At Android Unite maybe you can update your elm movie with this subject, a lot of ppl do not use their elm because of connection problems.
These connection attempts are unnecessary. Just open the program, create a vehicle profile, and press connect within the software. It will ask for permission to control Bluetooth. It will then connect to the obd automatically.
I was anticipating receiving this and I received it today. I went out tonight to try it in the car. I confirmed it works by comparing the codes that it told me versus the codes that I mechanic read with a professional diagnostic tool when I bought the car. But a strange thing happened. I did some repairs on the car and my check engine light went away. But when I plug this module in, my check engine light comes on. When I unplug the module, the check engine light goes away again. Why is this prompting the check engine light to come on?
I'm honestly not sure but you should definitely clear them while the light is on then try driving it a bit for the computer to retest itself and see if they're gone for good.
SO I HAD TORQUE LITE AND PRO , my kid deleted both of them, now i cant connect and my cell fone says its installed, , im going to get a inspection sticker in 2 days, PLEASE HELP ME
Am I right in thinking that if I was sat in the car next to you with the app on my phone I could pair with your device in your car and get to see your data? Can anyone do any harm, other than view and clear fault codes by hacking these? And is it off, off, when the ignition is off even if it is left plugged in? Thanks for the vid
+Godshole Hey man, all great questions, yes if you were next to me or within bluetooth range (between 10-30 feet) you could indeed pair with my adapter and read the same data I'd receive. Someone with malicious intent and skills to match could easily push instruction sets to the vehicle as is described in this article: www.motorauthority.com/news/1099556_hackers-hit-the-brakes-on-a-corvette-via-obdii-hack Lastly I can confirm that when the ignition is off the adapter immediately loses power and no longer emits a bluetooth signal.
Thank you for your quick and complete response. I bought one of these after seeing your video and was very pleased with it, running with Caroo, which I use as a dashcam it will store all my drive data and give me live feeds. I stopped using it because it is a bugger to get in and out of the port on my Doblo but if when the ignition is off, it is off, off, then I could leave it in. As for people accessing it, I doubt it would happen but it is good to know it is possible and the range because now I know what to look for if someone does, eg grinning idiots with a phone or in a car nearby. Crowbar time YUS!
I have OBD2 , doesn't connecting with ECU , when I put the OBD2 on my car , it is reading this phrase ( profile not set up ) ..... what is the solutions please???
What about wifi i thing it hard to connect and what app for that i purches couprs elm 327 from smszon and it comes for me 22 this month put there is one app work and it cost 10 $ so there is any app free in i phone or Galgcy s7
In my vehicle there is no sensor for the headlights. They check them manually at the inspection station and it turned out one was out. The OBD2 adapter only reads what's available to it so it won't be able to tell you things such as your brakes wearing low or your windshield wipers going bad only what's being monitored by the on board computer.
Ah right. That's a shame. On some cars you get a warning light to show when a bulb blows. Of course, you would have seen that anyway if that was the case.Great video by the way. I've just ordered one now.
Nobody seems to mention that this is the best thing you can have when you're shopping for a used car. No matter what the seller says, he can't argue with the data your OBD2 unit will pick up about his car. It could save you from driving away in a piece of junk...
Haha That might be a little more difficult then you think, I have a 95 Jaguar and from my research the odometer syncs with varies other multiple computers throughout the vehicle when you turn off the ignition, then reconnects and checks all the information when you turn it back on. If any of the information does not match the instrument panel will permanently show an error. This makes the system almost tamper proof. I'm sure Mercedes 18 years later would have a more refined and improved system making tampering with the odometer impossible. Gone are the days when you could wind back the dials by hand and reinstall instrument cluster. Here in Australia, the odometer reading is recorded by our registration body when the car is reregistered or transferred So a pre-buy check would show if the odometer had been wound back and as mentioned below this is illegal.
anyone know how to make a ford focus zx4 , to make the on board computer to properly be working so it will pass smog, the on board computer is not readable at smog shop, which makes car fail instantly, i can't pass smog?
+Gonza I'm honestly not sure, I don't see why it wouldn't considering mechanics have to use the OBD port to run diagnostics but it's worth running a google search for "[Year Car Make & Model OBD2]" and see what comes up.
Can someone help me ...I've lost OBD connecting wireless plug for my launch X 431 pro.....how can i get a replacement plug it doesn't have to be wireless.
ELM is read only, and the launch x is bidirectional if I am thinking of the right unit.Apples and oranges.Look on ebay or aliexpress for replacement cords for your unit.

At 4:50 you say stay to the end to see how to connect to the Torque app. Did I miss something, watched the whole video and you didn't cover that part?
I watched through to the end looking for the same thing. Not cool.
Open bluetooth search click on found obd2 use code 0000 or 1234 and very last option 5678 and only purchase dongle 327 V1.5
Is there harm in just keeping that dongle in the port all the time?

Do you have to connect the OBD each time your driving or is it a one time thing?
Also is it ok not to disconnect the OBD when your not driving?
oh ok i have the mini and it says v2.1 .when you say low compatibility do you mean it only connects to a smaller amount of cars ?
Can the OBD 2 be left plugged in over days or weeks or will it draw current and drain the battery? Thanks

My OBD2 ELM 327 adapter tests good up to v2.2 , but would not connect to ECU on 2004 Mazda Tribute. Any help will be appreciated.

Hey, i have a question about that, i changed the stock radio of my 2014 corsa, it has a board computer and the stock radio would also set the time and date in the board computer, but since the radio is gone, does this thing have the ability to set the time and date?

Hi, good video, I got one of this OBD2 but I have really problem to connect it to my Ford Focus 2001. The problem is adapter can not connect to the ECU. Please could you help to solve that issue?
which version of the unit do you have? some claim it's Ver1.5 and some said 2.1....
He says 1.5 is better because it's compatible with more cars. He says it somewhere at the beginning of the video
You can adjust the settings to suit the connection to your ecu so it connects to any car if you go through the different obd2 settings you will find one that fits your car some car require the engine to be running to connect
which one is better ? Blue drive or ANCEL AD610 Elite OBD2

Hi! Thanks for a vid. Just concerned, there are other users who said that this fried their ecu. Can that happen? Is it safe to keep attached? Or better to unplug it while driving? Thanks again.
What kind of Camera did you use to record this video?
Do it read ABS faults
so how do you get torquelite to work on a elm 327? mine wont see either version of the elm327.
Mine came in the mail today I noticed that there is an app in the Play Store 327 Elm like $2.99 have you thought about that going this route?
I tried using this on my 1997 F-150 4.6 v8. It doesn't work. I tried it on my 2016 Escape and 2004 F-150. It works on both just not the 97. My fuses are all good. Any Tips?

Did you ever get your Acura 2002 MDX to work with Torque Pro?
+alexnosmith No sir, seems to only work with the OBD Car Doctor app.

It does not.

Will this work on a Subaru. I bought a BAFX bluetooth OBD2 and it does not support Subaru
Someone with malicious intent and skills to match could easily push instruction sets to the vehicle as is described in this article: www.motorauthority.com/news/1099556_hackers-hit-the-brakes-on-a-corvette-via-obdii-hack
Lastly I can confirm that when the ignition is off the adapter immediately loses power and no longer emits a bluetooth signal.

Didn't the software tell you that you had a headlight bulb out before the test?
In my vehicle there is no sensor for the headlights. They check them manually at the inspection station and it turned out one was out. The OBD2 adapter only reads what's available to it so it won't be able to tell you things such as your brakes wearing low or your windshield wipers going bad only what's being monitored by the on board computer.
Ah right. That's a shame. On some cars you get a warning light to show when a bulb blows. Of course, you would have seen that anyway if that was the case.Great video by the way. I've just ordered one now.

Thanks man, the stories keep pouring in of it paying for itself, hope it does so for you as well.
AndroidUnite how to update konnwei kw808?
Nobody seems to mention that this is the best thing you can have when you're shopping for a used car. No matter what the seller says, he can't argue with the data your OBD2 unit will pick up about his car. It could save you from driving away in a piece of junk...
question I have 2012 c class Mercedes and I would like to lower miles any brand would u recommend ?
none of these will do that
And second of all, depending on where you live, this is full on illegal.
Here in Australia, the odometer reading is recorded by our registration body when the car is reregistered or transferred So a pre-buy check would show if the odometer had been wound back and as mentioned below this is illegal.
thats nasty dude what country are you from¿

The fee from mechanics isn’t stupid… we spend thousands on quality diagnostic tools, if we don’t charge it’ll just be wasted money!
Video is to long, does it detect sensors?
Which ap are you usig for this devise?
Will this OBD2 Adapter work on new 2016 cars as well?
+Gonza I'm honestly not sure, I don't see why it wouldn't considering mechanics have to use the OBD port to run diagnostics but it's worth running a google search for "[Year Car Make & Model OBD2]" and see what comes up.
yes it does. I used it on my 2016 Ford Escape!
Mr.Gamer1885 Thanks ;-)
does it still work good??
