What I love about live Zappa is how he always changed things up depending who was in the band at the time! It's a never ending source of fascination. My favourite artist of all! ;{-
I know this post is 4 years old-- but just have to say... Frank Zappa was one of the most FEARLESS musicians/guitarists/composers who ever stepped out onto a stage in front of an audience! Could REINVENT the melody on the spot-- and often DID, and make it sound more INTERESTING :) Will NEVER be another one like him! He came along at the right time-- and left US too soon. But, his music is FOREVER and MUSIC IS THE BEST!
One of those little youtube gems you occasionally come across...
Off the scale good.He transposed his love of classical music and humour over to rock so well.
I think he is a secret and sacred mushroomer
fatoldsunflaming and he says "i smokin pot 9-10 times" we know the truth i think
On this track; Ralph Humphrey, possibly Chester Thompson, Ian Underwood, Bruce Fowler, Tom Fowler, George Duke, Ruth Underwood, possibly Jean Luc Ponty......... the best band line-up he ever had.
Absolutely brilliant composition and exceptional performance. I love the music of Frank Zappa.
Me too!!
RIP George Duke.
And thank Frank for everything.
The all star line-up! Incredible! This is like treasure.
George Duke really kills it on this recording.
Oh my god that bass clarinet is incredible.
Frank, we love u, we miss u and ur music lives on in all of us The Zappa Freaks!!! Everyone remember "There's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over!!!"
You will never hear this much talent on 1 stage anymore...such a pity.
You must only watch videos of rock bands on stage then.
I agree. Saw FZ a lot In NY. HALLOWEEN
Ian Underwood was just ridiculous, love this footage of him
How cool - never saw this before - except when I saw it live! Drove all the way down from Denton for it.
amazing.... hearing some RK Jam Kitchen 'noise' stylings.... pretty cool.
FYI - Jean Luc Ponty on violin.... one of my early clients... his solo tours Upon the Wings of Music and Aurora.
+ARTHUR BARROW what, did you grow up there or go to jazz school at north texas?
Was this in Austin?
You lucky SOB!

No one did better rock/jazz concerts than Zappa..
Frank invincible :-) I was on "Banned from Utopia" concert in Wroclaw, Poland last Autumn. I met Tom Fowler. Chapeau bas to Robbie Mangano.

Certainly in a class by himself. No one has played like FZ
Absolutely Brilliant..cheers
Ahhhh, to connect with the heaviness of George Duke's amazing chops brain.
Took Frank a little while to get his feet in his solo, but did he ever find them! Maybe his best band (but he had so many great collections of musicians) Love the marimbas

wow - very cool
With this make-up I wonder if it is not the Swedish tour of Zappa in 1973, because some images come from Stockholm's oppopopa emission, it seems to be an odd collation of various video concerts
