Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all have a great weekend! Between this Pathfinder and the new Pilot Trailsport we just drove, which would you choose? The Honda is pricier by about $5,000 but it does come with some features that are unavailable on the Nissan!
Seems like the Pilot TrailSport is definitely worth the extra money!
The Honda is far better in every regard. But the pathfinder is better than a highlander

The lack of features alone is making me uninterested with this Pathfinder Rockcreek Trim. I'm going with the Telluride. I need a touch of ambience in my life. This Rockcreek ain't it.👎🏾
Only reason I’d get the Rockcreek over the Honda would be the looks to be honest.
I really like the design of the Rock Creek edition.
If I was serious about mild off-roaring, I’d take the Pilot Trailsport any day over this. Higher ground clearance, skid plates, specific terrain response modes, better ride according to reviews, and looks more upscale. The front end of the Rock Creek looks horrible IMO with the huge black plastic bumper and fake vents.
When talking about the non-off-road Pilot and Pathfinder trims, it’s more of a tossup for me.

I recently (almost 2 weeks ago) bought the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum edition and I absolutely love it, no regrets. If you're looking into buying one, go ahead and buy the Platinum edition. The platinum edition has all the features missing in the Rock Creek.

The Xterra was a BoF truck intended for off roading with locking diffs, low range transfer case, live axle, and available manual. The Pathfinder’s power train would be an insult to the Xterra.

@icculus if nissan made a new Xterra (which they should... dont know why they havent) I would reccomend using the frontier Pro-4x platform. Perfect for offroading, reliable as hell, and actually rather cheap, especially compared to the new tacos.
If there's a bright side to this Pathfinder Rock Creek, its V6 engine being naturally aspirated means it'll outlast many of its turbocharged competitors, including its corporate sibling, the 3rd-Gen Nissan Rogue.
Painted wheels and extra cladding to trick you into buying what is otherwise a stripper. I'm sure these will sell like hotcakes to the average 🤡 Nissan buyer.

my main point is that people that traditionally buy SUVs for their utilitarian purposes don’t need a large screen, would prefer traditional knobs and buttons, and prefer more classic SUV characteristics. big screens look neat, but most of the time are impractical, and when everything dies you run the risk of losing control of functions in your car. Having had a larger screen, I step back down to an 8 inch screen, and the return of physical knobs, switchgear, and buttons.

I almost bought one but couldn't get there on the price. The rock creek is pretty stripped down. No power passenger seat, no sunroof, not even a 12v outlet in the cargo area. I bought a new mazda cx-9 fully loaded for a little less. Not disappointed. It looks cool but Nissan nickel and dimes you to death on features.
I prefer the Nissan Pathfinder but limits too many options, therefore I would buy the Honda Passport Trail Sport with many more options that includes heavy duty skid plates.
I've got a 2023 Pathfinder Rock Creek edition here in Canada and has power lift gate with kick action and heated steering wheel (don't be jealous down the border lol). No captain chairs which I prefer have an extra chair or storage area for the kids. I sold my 2021 Telluride, mainly because couldn't tow my camper trailer (4000 lbs) The Pathfinder promises more towing and a dedicated towing mode, better tires and suspension, good for my fishing trips. The engine feels responsible and powerful, I'm thinking will be spending a bit more on gas than with the Telluride with it's Atkinson cycle engine tuned for efficiency but won't be that much. I'm happy with my Pathfinder and the kooks matches better our outdoor personalities.
Have you used the tow mode? Did it make a big difference? I am assuming it does. I have tow mode on my 06 grand Cherokee and it does help, especially when pulling out. Been looking for something in a three row that can occasionally tow; but don’t want to go as big as a Tahoe.
I got rid of our Telluride also for a Rock Creek. Best decision I made when it comes to towing my small camper.

Any issues with your heater? My heater is weird. It will blow warm air at driver side and cold air at passenger side.
It has the same exact programming and mechanical setup as the regular ones. Its only the grade of gas that you use that makes the difference in the horsepower and torque. I have an SL premium and i use premium in it and i get the 295 hp and 270 torque. If u put reg gas in this rock creek or the qx60 then u would get the 284 ho that the regular pathfinders are rated at

Not true, your SL "premium" does not have the same fuel mapping and therefore not the same hp and torque as the rock creek. Maybe your butt Dyno has convinced you of that but just not true.
0-60 is 6.3 seconds sounds a bit optimistic for a suv with under 300 hp and weighs 4500+ pounds.

You say a manual lift gate is unacceptable, I say that it’s a key feature! I wish more SUVs had manual only lift gates. It’s one less thing to break and they open and close faster than electronic ones.

I mean with those tires you are of course going to get some noise. Expected if you are a buyer, can’t really knock it for that as it is a feature. Seats are the same as all Nissan SUV s. I would say the actual miss is Nissan not offering the Rock Creek in the SV or SL with some options. So Nissan needs to figure that out. And yes your personal preference isn’t everyone’s. The cost is the highlight for what you are getting.
I had a Pathfinder 18 years ago. Ended up with 238k miles before it died (mostly cuz my boys drove it to death). This drivetrain is an outdated gas hog that needs to go away. Nissan developed a great Hybrid powertrain 10+ years ago using this V6 and a 70hp electric motor (I do have one of these cars). With todays Upgraded Hybrid technology, this car should have a Hybrid Powertrain making 400+ HP and get 40MPG. Why are they holding back that technology?

3rd seat doesn't make any sense. Biggest downside. People rather have the flat bed than seats that never get used. At least take them out and move back further to the rear.

Not a fan of the front end or screen so just went with a new telluride. Looks alot sexier imo
i'm not sure why 0-60mph tests are so fascinating. Most people dont drive like that, and don't rev the engine taking off. That cuts your gas mileage, so taking the way you drove it, you got what you did in the mpg range.

Question still becomes have they fixed the chip issue with their Emergency braking in the middle of the road with nothing around causing people to get hit. This has been going on for years and years now with so many class action lawsuits and Nissan not doing anything about it

Umm that was on rogues for the 2016~18 model year. I have never heard this about the pathfinder or any other of there vehicles. Yep ford Chevy keep Kia all got class action suits so not sure what u gonna buy.

You’re getting an excessive amount of badges and some tires that frankly look ugly and out of place on this vehicle. Plus the lack of expected features like the power lift gate, a larger screen, etc is unacceptable considering the price point, and the higher price at the pump with the premium gas. I feel like this might be a model that actually sells for less than MSRP right now 😂

@@clearcut6818 I disagree. You're essentially getting an (almost) base Pathfinder, with a roof rack and some ugly all terrain tires. Nobody will ever take this offroad mostly because it's not even going to be remotely capable of anything. I'd get an SL or Platinum, get the nicer interior, better tech, and features. If I were in this market for a semi-offroad capable family hauler, I'd choose a Pilot Trailsport before this. It offers more features, and better long term reliability.

Pathfinder, Pilot, and Highlander are direct competitors. So sad, pathfinder use to be a direct 4Runner competitor. Toyo open country at3 are noisier on the hwy.

I hear the 2025 Murano is getting a refresh with the tried and true 3.5 V6 and a 9 speed auto finally. I drive a 2015 and love everything about it except that CVT. That is the only thing holding it back. It’s just to bad they didn’t drop it on the Maxima. An 8 or 9 speed would have made that car a beast.

@@miguelvega7769 It's definitely not all V6's but check out the dyno results for this 2022 Frontier. Supposed to make 310 HP/286 torque, but actually only made 210 HP and 186 torque.
And I get it, peak numbers aren't everything, there's driveline loss in every vehicle, and 5 different units of the same make/model might make slightly different numbers on different days with different temps etc, but that is more than just driveline loss. I agree, dash and screen alone on the base model telluride is leaps above this and comes standard on even there cheapest model, just picked up a telluride s awd for the wife and she loves it over her durango and likes it just as much as her 21 grand cherokee L Limited that end up being a lemon n bought back. And options to options to the new grand cherokee L it's almost 10k less. I think the front end/ grill kills this pathfinder
Got a 2022 Pathfinder SL. Love the drive quality and look but the build quality is terrible. After just over a year this thing rattles everywhere, middle row seats, headliner even rattles at idle and some random rattle coming from the center console… makes me not want to stay with the brand 🫤
