The punch on this quad is really smooth and those quick circles around the trees looked awesome! The analog version does seem like it might be more popular than the digital version so we shall se what happens. The flight time isn't too bad considering how you were flying in the flight footage. Seems like a great quad, I really like the Caddx Baby Ratel 2 as well, it has nice colors and deals with lowlight pretty well for a micro camera. Thanks for the review, enjoyed the flight footage!
Another great review, Nick. I bought this version and got it a week or so ago. I think maybe those “bumpers” on the TPU camera mount are there to keep the mounts from twisting on the stand-off. I remember in your review of the HD version, the camera mount seemed a little loosey goosey, but I haven’t noticed that issue on this version. Keep up the good work! I find your product reviews very informative. Thanks!
I was lucky to get a HD one with the nebula pro as my first digital quad, and have really enjoyed it. I did also recently manage to break the arm and bend a motor, but it had a bunch of crashes before that point and this was the first one that something finally broke.
Thanks, really imformative and surprising how nimble this is, the only thing I'd like to see is for Emax to jump on board with ELRS. I almost got the Nanohawk X recently but the lack of ELRS stopped me.
I was really hoping this would come out. Unfortunately I just bought a bunch of stuff and can't afford it right now. I got the flywoo nano hex, caddx peanut camera and I went ahead and bought the Autel Evo 1 which I'd been wanting for years and got a deal I couldn't pass up for a new flymore combo which was pretty pricey still for me (stole it for $500!). But maybe if I was a good boy, Santa Doug might get this for me lol. Great flying BTW. Looks like it handles really well.
Just got an analog babyhawk, wired up an expresslrs receiver to it, and about to take it for my maiden flight...I am a big fan of the 3.5 inch quads. They work very well for the space I have to fly without having to get in the car and drive somewhere to fly. I only got 2 extra props with my banyhawk...
Two spare props? Neither of my HD's came with ANY spare props, at a time when they were not generally available either. And one of mine came with a free failed flight controller ESC. My "March" one came minus bumpers, the second in July had them. Light weight is good for duration, not so good for moves that are helped by retained nertia. Both mine came with the Nebula Pro. They are good all rounders, and genuinely sub 250g. BTW, I fly both Analogue and Digital!!
I really want this thing lol. Would of loved to see them use a 1406 or 1507 motor on it, but the 1404s seem to swing the 3.5" prop pretty good. Great review, Nick!
Hi Nick Great video and review of the new Emax analog babyhawk 2. Well I love the size and quality but I'm still not used to the prices of quads now. I think it's to much. But if you had a job it might not be. Don't worry if I could get it, I can break it. Thanks again for the video and information on the babyhawk 2
On the HD version set both filter sliders back to 1 and move the all pid sliders back to 1. Now move the master pid slider to 1.4 The stock one and the one I built both love this tune!
Speculation over: lol ... I've had my Emax babyhawk 2 HD for quite some time and it has those TPU bumpers and the battery lead zip tied down. Came that way. Got mine with Crossfire installed. They did a Super nice job of installing the receiver and especially with placement of the mini immortal T antenna - perfection! 😎🤘
Bought one of these when they came out couple weeks ago. Immediately bricked the FC when trying to flash to JazzMaverick ESC firmware. That was when I realized this FC does not have breakout pads for the ESC chips to reflash the bootloaders. I bought an iFlight Beast F7 FC to replace it, added ELRS RX and beeper, and love everything else about the quad. Great performance, perfect size for a park with no people. It's just a shame that Emax forgot to put those pads on. Huge oversight on their part when even tiny whoop boards have those pads. This is not a warning not to buy this quad, but if you plan on ever doing anything with the ESCs, consider yourself warned.
You shred Nick! 🔥 I have the HD I fly analogue and digital I love the HD very fun little ripper the analogue looks like it enjoys that weight loss of no vista making it even more nimble. Great review as always
My HD nebula pro version has the little protector near the camera, and the battery lead zip tied. Maybe yours was early preproduction? I think it’s a really great midsize quad that is underappreciated by many. The only thing I don’t like are the motors. I had to replace three in the first week that I owned it.
Got the HD version a few weeks ago and it has a zip tie on the battery wire like your analog one does. Also appears to have the same 3d printed camera mounts.
Lol I got two 🤣. I did read other comments the same that there were no spare props. Maybe as this was sent for review and they know I fly a lot and crash as well they thought I would need spares?
I like that the Emax BabyHawk II uses a 25.5x25.5 whoop format flight controller. I have standardized on that particular format since it actually works in pretty much any size quad that has that mounting option. Just me (ha, ha).
It's time the Emax, BetaFPV and HM of the world offered quads with Shark Byte vtx and ELRS combo. If the immediate selling out of HDZero cameras 2-3 weeks ago is any indication of SB demand along with the imminent release of higher output vtx, we're looking at a tremendous untapped potential. HM was first to market on ELRS, who would be the one on SB?
I think if it were normal times we would likely see something. But right now I think the manufacturers are being conservative, could be due to overall market activity or supply issues.
If your hands getting cold you should get a little transmitter hand warmer thing it’s like a sweatshirt for your hands and a transmitter and it’s only like $15
I have the analogue and love it. I would like to add that the carbon edges are very sharp. I noticed this when my power cable had lines cut into it from the edges of the carbon around the oval hole on the top plate. I put electrical tape stretched tightly around the plug and 1 inch below. I also have cloth tape but was not sure it can take the edges. What do you think? As insurance I also took a dental file to the top edge.
The tape on the motor wires shouldn't be an issue as there isn't much force in a crash from the wires against the tape. The battery can create more force due to its weight, that against the carbon could be an issue long term. Might need some tape on that carbon edge.
Thanks for sharing! In my hands that D8 rx has actually a fairly good range compared to FRSKY :) Is there and flight feel difference between the HD and the analog? The vista adds some 10ish gr. The more I think of it, the more I’m tempted to go the diatone route with super beefy motors! Thanks again for all the work you put in these vids. Much appreciated! Will the crux35 camera mount fit the Babyhawk? I ended up with a pair of the crux35 hds ELRS. Came here to say the frame is not as good as I thought it would be. I had the HD version and I broke the front arm after a fall from a tree. I wound up transferring the squid to a Rip Squeak frame and it’s been great there. Yesterday, I increase the motors to 1607’s and increased the props to 4”, now it’s a rocket. Hey Nick my Crux 35 analogue quad and a jumper t-lite express lrs module arrived today ...can you suggest a video guide for setting this up? I should be fine with Installing the module but it the after that I'm not sure about. Any help appreciated
I think the first thing we want to do is to flash the tx module which I have a video on here th-cam.com/video/1w6uk3jUnJs/w-d-xo.html We may also need to update opentx to get the 500hz packet refresh rate, this video is on a nightly but same premise as we shouldn't need the nightly just standard now. th-cam.com/video/mj5ONi-mZ2U/w-d-xo.html We don't flash the receiver on the board as that is part of betaflight and at this time isn't updated. So we need to use the lua script on the radio to bind and the bind button in betaflight to bind the radio to the quad. We can use passphrases but again at this time that is likely more trouble than its worth. If I recall we need to bind at 250mw, this is selected on the radio via the lua script.

I think the emax. The roma f4 isn't has responsive as its weighs more and I think the motors of the roma are oversized for the prop, just adds motor weight we aren't taking advantage of.
Nick , I got a question my Emax hawk pro when I’m flying it with my beta FPV controller which is set to horizon mode, it’s been cold and windy here but I’m having the drone pitch up and down sporadically as if I’m not able to control it easy, is there something else wrong or just the conditions I’m flying it in ? or is it just something that got out of tune with the controller now somehow?
It’s really hard to say. It could be natural for that if we are releasing the pitch stick. Horizon mode and angle mode are always working to bring the quad back to level. I would need to see video to possibly know more certain
@@NickBurnsFPV Nick when I fly in angle mode it flies fine, it’s when it’s in horizon mode that it pitch up and down so I went in beta flight in the modes and tried adjusting the tabs a little bit more precise I hope this helps with horizon mode, but I don’t know why in angle mode it flies fine but in horizon mode it will pitch up and down so I’ll let you know.
@@NickBurnsFPV OK , Nick, when I setup my the Emax hawk pro in the modes tabs on beta flight , I did the same way that the tiny hawk 2 freestyle was setup in the modes tab, basically angle mode, Horizon mode, and the default would be air mode or Accra mode on the same 3 way switch Right? So would that be the problem having all 3 Modes on a 3 way switch? Or should Air or Acro be on a different mode or Switch? even though the Tiny Hawk 2 and freestyle drones works fine on the same 3 way switch position 1 angle mode, 2 horizon mode , 3 air or acro mode by default, I even calibrate the accelerometer just about every time I fly and yet I’m still confused about Horisont mode on the three-way switch acting more difficult to fly because it’s not smooth as angle mode is for me when Flying!
@@diggsit69 as long as the modes don't overlap, we can have them on one switch. If we have two mode enabled at the same time it could cause issues. I am not sure what those issues would be, I haven't experienced that.
I have the HD version and love love love it...flies on rails. I cant imagine getting better performance. Now I'm curious.Mine came with the Nebula pro. Think of all the millions emax is saving sending just two props 🤣
pretty much, they are all following a similar power train formula. The only one that is much different in the crux35 as its lighter than the others on the market.
In the dji/vista the emax comes with a better camera and the smart35 can't support the nebula pro camera which is considered better. The smart 35 supports mounting an external HD camera better. The emax also uses the vista as part of the frame assembly in the rear and some don't care for that. For just flight performance and pid tune the HBII is better.
Analog will never really go away , DJI hold back is there prices, dji is for the rich & analog is for the working class !!! People ain’t gonna pay them high prices & when the quad gets dunked in water 💧 & destroyed , that’s three or four hundred dollars down the drain , analog quads have great prices & dji will keep you in debt 💸!!! Analog for me 😂
valid points, I don't think you have to be rich for dji, but likely the individuals budget priorities are to get dji. Just like with cars or tvs, we do without on one hand to get what we want in the other hand.

Ah you got one early back when the nebula pro was available. I have only heard good things like yours on the BabyHawk II HD.
But i would still go for vista i think this step can handle it no problem
I love the baby hawk 2. 👍
Mmmm Crux35!!! Haha just MO but I've given up on Emax hey. Alot more expensive but not great deal ahead of happymodel anymore.
This thing looks pretty fast for a sub 250 3.5". I've never flown one, are they always this good?
pretty much, they are all following a similar power train formula. The only one that is much different in the crux35 as its lighter than the others on the market.
Which is better of this emax / geprc smart 35?
Just like with cars or tvs, we do without on one hand to get what we want in the other hand.
i got 2 extra props as well ts weird
🤠👍
Tracer vs elrs? 🤔
I believe UAV tech and Wesley Varty have some tests with tracer. I don't have any experience with that Rx.
@@NickBurnsFPV just want to know your opinion on which one is better for a skywalker. 😉
@@hojiqabait skywalker? I can't give an opinion on something I haven't used. That would be dishonest or at best a guess.
3,5 inch on 4s...
Maaan, thats not a microquad anymore.
You can rip a 6s 5inch the same way in youre garden, backyard.
Not a winner for the look but sounds smooth with it being a light weight 😁👌 still love my diatone 349 🤣🤣🤣🤣👌
the 349 is a great one. Its suprising they stopped making it. I think it competes well with current day 3inch and 3.5inch
@@NickBurnsFPV very true 😁👌 it's definitely a little ripper but I have had about 6 canopies crack on me but the frame is still going strong 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👌 I wish they kept it going also ... o well
@@philsm109rphilipstrom3 I believe I asked them about it "making a come back". No response sadly.
@@NickBurnsFPV really ....daaaaaaaam 🤣🤣🤣🤣👎 I wish 🤞
Analog, simply due to weight and cost.
Nick Burns Fence is much fancier, than J. Bardwells Fence.
Proof me wrong!
They recycled straps from the 5in. Hawk for sure
First
Way overpriced. Idk what EMax is thinking as to why this is a $250 quad especially when they happy model version is $100 less
Does the HappyModel come with a Runcam Racer 5 and TBS Nano VTX? Premium analog components demand a premium price. No expense was spared it seems.
