Honestly, as a mid-week, after work, "I have random things in my kitchen" meal this would be a PASS for me. Its not stellar, surely there's many ways to improvise around the ingredients (I'd've gone for the tacos instead of the ramen), but as the man said, I'd be perfectly happy with this.

Have you guys ever thought of doing a round robin style sous chef Pass It On? Mike stays in for the whole time, and the others rotate in to be his sous. They can't add any suggestions, they just follow his directions. Mike has to create the dish(es) himself, using Ebbers, Baz, and Jaime to help him with the cooking. @@sirBrouwer You're 1000% right. That would end up happening a decent amount of the time for sure. Was good training for everybody under me from my chefs, to the bartenders and sommeliers, wait staff etc. Being able to think on your feet and come up with something is a necessary skill for a chef. Ingredients don't last forever and so coming up with specials to use up small amounts of Ingredients that are left before they turn is always a plus. We were also lucky in that we had a late night menu in addition to lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Late night always had a different even more laid back vibe.

Video idea: a play on Pass It On, where each person is assigned a specific part of the cooking process at random.
Person 1 picks ingredients for the whole meal. Person 2 does the prep (cutting veg etc.) Person 3 executes the cooking. Person 4 has to compile all of the results into a plate that (hopefully!) makes sense.
I think seeing each of their plans and ideas for what to do going forward, only for the next person coming in to take it into a completely different direction, would be hilarious.

I feel like the approach was a little backwards. Instead of choosing a "hero" ingredient (like a protein) and building out from there, Ben chose a random ingredient and was working inwards. It might make sense in his head, but I think for his teammates (who aren't as creative as a chef on the fly) that makes it much harder. I feel like it would've gone much better if Mike and Barry came in to a clear dish idea that they then needed to execute instead of so many potential branching options.
