    I do remember that back in the day we would yell obvious instructions for the dumb characters to listen to and this brought me back to those days

    Loved this. Saw yesterday and didn't think about it until you said, this is a movie that should be spoiled.

    A very never heard of very impressive horror movie is way better! The 2009 Spiker, A ghostly spiritual haunting throughout the young girls eyes and very brutal killings throughout the movies run time! A very much recommended horror movie to see! There's a very deadly warning in this horror movie! If you see a very large massive killer coming out the water! Go home Emmittly! My great inspiring wisdom for today. Have a great fabulous wonderful day.😀

    Whoever made this movie -wanting a trilogy, is the equivalent of a drowning med school student who already wants to "specialize"

    Loved your review mate, and I agree, it was absolutely garbage lol ! Is it just me or is there literally no new horror movies that are actually scary anymore 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

      Thanks, dude! And I hear you on that, Longlegs has been getting a lot of hype as "actually scary" so hopefully that one delivers in a few weeks

    an absolute dumpsterfire. i didn’t like the other two strangers movies and already hated this. i have no intention of watching anymore strangers movies after this. there’s potential with these strangers but for some reason the characters in these movies have to be SO FUCKING STUPID

      Nailed it. The concept of the Strangers is solid and should work, but the execution...I just don't understand at all what they're trying to accomplish

    Which one is the best in your opinion CT?

    • @WatchWithCT
      @WatchWithCT  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think I like the concept of the Strangers more than the movies themselves. The original '08 is the best to me, but I have trouble with Liv Tyler as the lead. I've always chalked that up to my own issues and probably being fed too many Aerosmith videos in the '90s.
      I want these killers to make the audience feel disturbed instead of going for more the more popcorn movie vibes we got in the Chapter 1.
      A Strangers movie more inspired by Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer would be right up my alley

    Hey dude. First time viewer. Was all set to vibe with your analysis until I saw the Prince of Darkness poster behind you. I really hated that movie. So I am wondering if and why you like it.

    • @WatchWithCT
      @WatchWithCT  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey man, I hope the poster didn't put you off too much!
      I've been a huge John Carpenter fan in general since I was a teenager, so I'll always have a nostalgia bias towards most of his movies.
      Prince of Darkness isn't my favorite of his, but I enjoy it quite a bit. The story is pretty far out there, and for me it's a movie that's about the strangely disturbing vibes and also the cast. I'm always down to see Donald Pleasence dramatically chew up scene after scene, even in a less-than-stellar movie. I really like Victor Wong as the physicist, and I'm a sucker for the Alice Cooper cameo as well.

    I haven't watched any of your content this is the first one, and great review of the movie. I had an issue with the "male gaze" part. Why is it wrong to put naked females in a movie if they are willing to do it for our sakes (no one is forcing them to do it)??? Do you have an issue with every single male in Marvel movies having a ton of shirtless scenes for women to gaze at??? Honest question too. If you hold to that view I just want to know if you have an issue with it on both ends of the spectrum and aren't being hypocritical.

    • @WatchWithCT
      @WatchWithCT  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, I think you may be missing my point on the male gaze a bit. I've no issue with nudity or titillating scenes if it makes sense given the movie. For example, I love Giallo films and they're far from prudish. My issue with The Strangers Chapter 1 is you have a character who's acting far too comfortably in a place she's never been before and seemingly strutting around pantless for the audience and director's benefit. In my opinion it actively takes away from the story and removes immersion (although I'm not sure the filmmakers ever cared about making an immersive story here).
      Regarding your Marvel point, I haven't watched a Marvel movie in years, but I'm sure there are probably scenes worth calling out in those films as well.
      On the other side of the spectrum, I'd argue that both Jennifer Lawrence and John Cena have used nudity to great comedic effect recently. Jennifer Lawrence's full-frontal skinny-dipping beat down scene in No Hard Feelings not only served the comedy of the movie, but also strengthened the relationship between the two main characters. Similarly, John Cena's stripping scenes in Ricky Stanicky were comedic, but also served to show the audiences the lengths the character was willing to go.
      It's all about context and serving the story being told.

      @@WatchWithCT Ok very good explanation and thank you for clarifying (as it is your channel and you certainly don't need to). Will certainly sub as I said i thouroughly enjoyed your disparaging of this atrocious piece of film..............if one could even call it that. I feel I deserve a refund. There are certain movies people should get paid to watch...............this was one. Night Swim was better than this for crying out loud.

    I can't believe that Renny Harlin put his name on this hot stinking mess, then again he did do a bunch of shitty movies for his ex-wife Geena Davis.
