How well/easily does this machine steam milk?

Hi thanks for the many videos on the PV. Can I enquire if you need lots of hand muscles (1-10; 1 being lowest) to pull shots? I’m about to purchase the 2 groups but concern if my wife can handle the muscle part. Also is it difficult to accessorize?

I would say that you need very little arm muscle to pull the lever. The spring does all of the work. All you are doing is cocking or compressing the spring. If I were to give it a number I would say that you need to use about a "3" in terms of strength. Plus, since the PVL is so stable with the 3.5L tank and weight you can use two hands if necessary.
Accessories are a little sparse since the basket is a smaller 45mm. You can find tampers and make your own funnel from a Dixie cup or similar. Otherwise, you get a lot of space between the tray and spout so pretty much any espresso cup will fit. Everything else like scales and knock boxes are standard.
The one thing you could do is replace the plastic lever handles and portafilter handles with wood. I'm looking into this as a project. Enjoy!

@@leverfanatics1978 thank you for your useful reply. One more question if possible: since the water thank is 3.5L, we need to boil 3.5L of water every morning even if we only make a single espresso? Pardon me as my current brew boiler is only 400ml. 😅

I think the 3.5L is the max capacity. I doubt you ever have it that full. I usually fill it with a single Britta pitcher which probably has a capacity of about 2L. When you turn it on it takes about 15-20 minutes to get up to temperature. The heating element is very strong. I might see a 5 minute difference in heat time between completely full and near empty. One major advantage of a larger boiler is that you don't have to fill it often and can leave it on all day. I don't but on occasion have left it one for most of the day. If you are like me you make espresso in the morning and then have one for lunch as well as one in the late afternoon. I switch the machine off after use but find that the afternoon heating is quicker since the boiler is already warm from the morning. Bottom line, I love the large boiler and it makes it very versatile. There is also a sight glass built in to the side so if you only want to keep 1L of water in the boiler at a time you can do so. Nothing says you need to completely fill the boiler each time. It's all up to you and how you want to use it.
