    I’m 6’4” so I definitely have to take into consideration the exercises that can be done on this. But so far the ones you showed that might be challenging for a tall person can be done sitting on a bench. I would just move the pulley all the way down and do tricep extensions behind my head. Or I could lay on the bench and do them horizontally. You learn how to modify, so for me I don’t think that would be a deal-breaker.

    Pretty sure I'll be picking this up the next time it goes on sale. It sounds like people might just be confused on the smith. I've read a few comments in reviews that say the smith is basically useless unless you only do super low weight or only do deadlifts, but maybe they just don't know how to use it properly? Because it looks like you could load it up and still be able to adjust the starting position pretty easily the same way you did it here?

    • @AviatorsGarage
      @AviatorsGarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, a lot of people misunderstand the Smith machine and how it works totally. People get very confused because you have to start at the bottom of the motion versus the top. I haven’t had any issues whatsoever. And you can load it up to 300+ pounds of weight. For me, that’s more than enough I’m not a power lifter anymore. I recommend waiting for it to go on sale. It’s usually goes down to $1999.99 because of a $500 off. And I believe that includes free shipping. Thank you for your comment. And thank you for watching. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    It looks great! I have a similar situation where space is a premium - I also like that you change the weights so quick and easy with the weight stacks. Unfortunately it doesn't have the lat pulldown and row stations like the FT2 but this one is much cheaper (and comes with a bench) so it is a much better value.

    • @AviatorsGarage
      @AviatorsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I agree, it definitely is a con, I’ll try to do another video about some questions I’ve been getting. I have had to become creative with some work outs. I’ll show you what I’ve come up with.

  • @NH-il6uc
    @NH-il6uc ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For squats. Would you have the bar with no weight on it at the top, squat down, then engage the weight, then do your set, disengage the weight, stand back up and walk out? Looked like the weight can only be hooked up at the bottom of your squat at the start.

    • @AviatorsGarage
      @AviatorsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a great question, yes you can do it that way, which is great in the beginning. I’ve gotten use to starting my lift at the bottom by having the heigh preset. It’s not to big of a deal for me but I can see who some people would consider that as a negative. But yes you are correct. The movement starts at the bottom of rep with weight.

    I’ve had the SF3 for over a year and love it. I did get the straight bar because the ez curl isn’t my favorite. Also the way the weight doubler works is like this: the cable pull is 2:1 so normally 60 on each side is really only 60 because the ratio divides the 120 by 2. The top of the weight stack is 15 so 60 + 15, but the doubler makes it actually 75x2 so 150 plus the weight of the bar (which is 15 I thinks).

      I personally have never used the REP FT
      3000. It looks like a solid quality build and a USA company that will have great customer service. The one thing I see it’s lagging for the price is No smith bar. I’m sure you can link up a straight bar to the pull system but the SF3 has one built in. That allows me to transition between work outs very quickly. One question - can you demonstrate how you would do squats, bench and deadlifts with it in a separate video? I think the bar and those movements are the biggest selling point for the unit vs. a normal functional trainer - especially the squats. I know you have to start from the bottom of the movement so I wonder how awkward that is and if you get used to it. Thanks!

      Sorry man, still confused on that one. Every smith machine I’ve used or functional trainer for that matter you have to set it up and to use it that way. Any funny enough (for me) the SF3 has a way better way of using the smith machine than those high dollar commercial gym ones. To me it’s way safer and better for those who have injuries. Thanks for the comment.

    What's the difference between this and Ft2?

    • @AviatorsGarage
      @AviatorsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      The FT2 is twice the price at $5000 vs $2500 (Costco exclusive). FT2 is a little bit bigger. They both have a smith machine. The FT2 has a little more advanced pulleys and adjustable mechanisms. The FT2 has an overhead pulley station and a center station, and the FT2 has an upgradable weight stack system ( you can 50lbs a side later for a cost). The SF3 as of now is only 160lbs a side. Hope that helps.

      I have a really really old True PS500, which has definitely stood the test of time (almost 19 years old and about 15-16 moves across the country) however I would love to upgrade it to a free form that has a 30 degree or greater incline. Unless true makes one that has a greater incline. Think I should make a vid about it? Thank you for the comment.

    How hard was it to put together ?

    • @AviatorsGarage
      @AviatorsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      It took me by myself about 6 hrs. If I had help maybe 4. Once it’s put together it is in place where it is. I think it weighs about 6 to 700 pounds. But I didn’t think it was that difficult. It just takes time. In my opinion for the price it is a very good quality machine and I use it every day I can.

    Ok I buy this machine & I loveeeee it I use 3 days a week my 🦵 & 🍑 day workout but just I would like to learn how can I do workout the squats all down 🏋️‍♀️ line the same other regular machine this doesn’t hold it when u are done I don’t understand just that all the rest I love it

    • @AviatorsGarage
      @AviatorsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s how it was designed, I’ve gotten use to starting my squat rep at the bottom of my work out and resting it there. If you think about it, every other exercise I can think of has the same start concept. But I know a lot of people have commented that they do not like it. It hasn’t been a big issue for me. Plus the SF3 is wayyyyy more cost effective than other options on the market.

      I have it and it took me 6 hours as well. My son helped hold things in a few spots. Biggest issue I had was getting it in my house. Costco left it in the driveway without even notifying us it was delivered. I looked in the comments of a few other videos and it seems to be a what they do for all deliveries. The ground floor delivery thing is a lie. That aside, it is a fantastic machine. It’s nice to be able to do real bench presses without a spotter.
