Mama Doctor Jones could you react to private practice season 6 episode 12? It’s about a main character giving birth to her remaining two babies of triplets after having delivered the first one prematurely. I freakin LOVE your channel and everything you do!😀😀
I've been watching them both for a while. But... MDJ is the only merch I've ever bought of any TH-camrs. I love my "you don't get to be offended by science" shirt. And even my husband wanted one so I ordered him one too 😂
One of the common themes in Scrubs is to address sexism and pressures experienced by females in hospitals. Elliot is often called a nurse and pressured to become an OBGYN when she is actually recognized as a doctor. It isn’t until much layer in the show when Elliot becomes much stronger as a person that most of those types of episodes fall away, though they still often bring up the pressures some women experience to look attractive or unattractive in the workplace or the difficulties of starting relationships and pressure to start a family.
My gynecologist, who I guess has been a gyno for around 23 years because I was one of the first babies she delivered after becoming a gynecologist, (she was actually pregnant with her first baby when I was born) wears high heals and dresses and is super tall and gorgeous like the representation in scrubs and God I love that woman. She seems so powerful.
@LolLol-yn8uv I agree but it can be a tedious situation. Maybe it was out of love and they wanted to protect her from bad experiences. It's ideal to want them to encourage 100% but they can have their reasons. I do think they should support even if they disagree with a decision and this requires open communication. :-)
Her dad is a highbrow cardiologist. He is very rich, well known, emotionally abusive and suuuuuuuuuper rich. Elliot goes through a whole arc of becoming a very competent doctor.
Could you do a video on what to expect from miscarriage. I've had two now and I am still confused about some of the little changes my body went through during the process. Also because the nurses at the early pregnancy unit are so extremely busy then tend to cut you off when they are trying to get only to the information they want and I am never sure if they have actually got all the important info or whether there is info I should be insisting I press upon them. Any tips on what they do and dont need to know would be helpful
That would be amazing! I also suffered two miscarriages and think this and other infertility topics would make a great video for National Infertility Awareness Week. 💗
I just recently saw a young TH-camr talking about her miscarriage emotionally. Miscarriages are common and it would ne really important to talk about it.

The reason the Gyno Girls are tall, blonde and beautiful (and well rested) is because Scrubs is a COMEDY!!! The same reason that Turk and his fellow surgical residents are depicted in one episode as too-cool-for-schoo tough guy bullies dressed as pimps! Because it's funny!!!
Because of you ,Mama Doctor Jones,I want to be a gynecologist and I hope I will get half the amount of knowledge you have and sometimes your humbleness amazes me.You are a superwoman who doesn't want to let the world know her superpowers and that is why I admire you so much Love you,my inspiration!💕

The OBGYN girls in this episode are being portrayed as a sorority. That is why they are trying to recruit Elliot, why they look the way they do, and why her dad is saying he wants her to join them.
It makes me so happy to hear and see more and more women in OB/GYN. The first time I ever saw a GYN, I was 18 and he was my mother's Dr. It is already an incredibly uncomfortable situation for an 18 year old and having the dr be an old man made it 1000 times worse. And he made zero attempt to try to make me feel comfortable. That was the 1st and last time I saw a male GYN. I don't care how much medical training you have, if you don't have the parts, I don't want your medicine.
It makes me glad knowing it pissed off some transphobes. Although I don't think any conservative piece of shit watches a female gynecologist. Too much pussy for them to handle.
While I do not think the vulgarity is applicable, I do lean conservative and really enjoy MDJ. I'm also male. I have a tendency to befriend a lot of people outside of my echo chamber, as it were. People feel comfortable talking with me. My Facebook friends list has a wide variety of folk. I am the better for their company. I just wanted to chime in and say at least one conservative person is listening. I wish you well in these trying times.
When he gets done singing (around 4:45 to 5 minutes in) and she said "they're talking about moonlighting, which is what residents do to make a little extra money" I thought she meant moonlighting as a singer because of the context >.>
It's so interesting that in the US you see the OBGYN for pap smears etc because here in Australia you first see your GP for most things, including pap smears and contraception. We generally only see an OBGYN is if we have an issue that needs further investigation. Even if pregnant it's normally handled by midwives and your gp and only see the OBGYN if you're high risk etc
That's really interesting. I live in Canada, and in my experience it really depends on your doctor. I've had some that are comfortable handling Ob-gyn issues, especially the more straightforward things like birth control, pap smears, mammograms, ect. I've also had one who wasn't even comfortable prescribing birth control! It's a pretty wide range. 😆 Again, I don't know what the education requirements are here, this is just my personal experience. Generally, Australia's system makes more sense to me. As Dr. Mike pointed out, people are more likely to get important gynecological things taken care of if it's all done at once, in one place, by one doctor. Also, some people get intimidated by the idea of seeing a specialist and might not get the _basic care_ they need if they have to see an Ob-gyn for it. Thirdly, the Australian system leaves the specialists' time open for more complicated cases, which, theoretically, should cut down on wait times. I wonder how the statistics bear out comparing between these different systems...? Oh dear- I might be falling down a research rabbit hole! 😅😉
I'm in the US, and even I was surprised by that segment. Over my lifetime, 90% of my annual exams have been performed by a GP. It only changed after I started menopause. BUT, that's because of needing to consult with my OB/GYN about the menopause stuff, due to other medical issues. I still could get my annual with my GP, but given that I have to see my OB/GYN anyway, it's just easier now for her to do it.
I live in Israel, and in here the Family Physician is the one to go to for general things, like if you're not feeling well, have aches or fever, or need to ask for a blood test. The family physician refers you to a special doctor if there's any need for it. The two topics that the family physician cannot check on you here are mental health issues, and Gynecology issues. No family physician does a gynecology exam of a patient here, nor a pep smear or a mammogram... and the family physician cannot prescribe mental health prescriptions. It sounds better to me the way it works in Australia, though. 🙂
My OBGYN rotation in medical school internship taught me 2 things mainly... 1. You need to have passion for this branch to be a good obgyn doc bcoz it can get stressful and demanding at times 2. Sleep is as valuable as gold. If you have even half an hour spare, you better take a nap.
This is an extremely exciting moment in my life!!! Never i have been this early to a favorite TH-cam video!!! Lol i always get the notifications later! Now two of my favorite people are doing a collaboration!!! Woot Woot! I'm just so dang lucky!
I would recommend people who don't think they fall into the demographic for MDJ's content to still give it a try! I'm VERY childfree and don't ever plan on getting pregnant, but I still enjoy all her videos and have learned a ton from them!
I think the demographic for MDJ would best be described as "people interested in science whether or not it relates to them". I learn a ton from MDJ's content!
@@tinkeramma Most people involve things that interest them, and often affect their lives. Im happy you are so curious but cut some slack to us single men who have little need to know gynecological stuff, please!
Thank you for being a bright light during this time! You keep it light hearted while also giving the facts in a way that is considerate but firm. It's very refreshing
Dr Mike, Mama Doctor Jones AND Scrubs in one video - this makes me so happy! Thank you both awesome doctors for your channels which give us some great health insights and some humour at the same time. Great channels! Legit both inspire me (or add to my existing desires) to want to pursue medicine as a career (though at 29, might be a bit later for me to try).
The point was that she was being pushed to ob/gyn because she's a woman. The commentary was that just because women are more common as doctors than in the past doesn't mean they no longer face sexism. Essentially he's implying she can't be a surgeon or other higher paying specialist. And the gyno girls were attendings that were pressuring the residents, not residents looking for clique members.
Well, I've been binge watching Mama Dr. Jones, found out about Dr. Mike from her.. and I've watched Scrubs with my friends, back in the day. If this is not the perfect video collab, then, what is??!! Thank you so much, you brightened my day 😊🌻
7:44 It's Lane Davies, he played Tempus; a villain from the future on Lois & Clark (90's Superman.) He and John Shea's 'Lex Luthor' were my 2 favorite characters from that show. He played the role in a similar manner on this show than he did on that show.
Loved the collab. Definitely should do more of this. I also liked the much needed light mood all around. You and Dr. Mike are SO likable! That slo-mo entrance by the GynoGirls? EPIC! LOL!
Due to the timezones, I can't believe I am this early (I live in Australia). Because there is a higher chance of you seeing this comment I am just wondering if you could do a video about vaginismus. Thanks for your consistently great videos.
Yes! That would actually be a really cool video I could send my sister. She suffers from this and has actually done pelvic floor physical therapy in the past. I would like to see a science-based video on it!
What you said about medical training interested me. My Dad was a medical student in the UK in the 1950s. He failed his exams the first time then went and sat the RCS and RCP exams which were an equivalent. He didn't need to do any speciality training, but his first job was a junior house surgeon in obstetrics. Later he became a GP for over 30 years.
You and dr mike and Kristina Braly are my absolute favorite doctors ri watch ! And no I am not a doctor just a regular degular house mom but idc I love all 3 of you! Thank u for this collab ! Please do more ! 🥰❤️
After med school, in Australia we aren't matched into a speciality. We all do an internship with core rotations (Emergency, General medicine, and General surgery and two other electives), and we can't apply to most specialities until at least a few years in as a junior doctor. I think its so terrible the amount of med school fees that are in the US! We are very lucky in Australia where most fees are about 12k per year and we can pay it back to the government in time
I'm really thrilled that my GP specialized in women's health so she does all of the gyno stuff for me. I've been with her since I 'graduated' from pediatrics and my whole family goes to her. She's wonderful!
Hey MDJ, I'm a trans guy and I had a friend that had ovarian cysts but since he had already transitioned he didn't feel comfortable talking about the cramps he was having and ending up having some complications that he told me were pretty serious. If you could do a video about uterine care or something for trans men it would be very appreciated.
I had the exact same feeling paying off my student loans. "DEBT FREE MOFOS! I AM A LITERAL GOD! ...Wow, they sent me a two sentence email... That's all I get?"
There are no words to express how much I love MDJ. I’ve always wanted to be a doctor, now I’m interested in obstetrics because of the exposure I’ve had to what it is.
Scrubs was made almost 20 years ago now, and Elliot's father is portrayed as a doctor from an older era, so it is possible that his point was accurate from the time he was from. I dunno. Just a thought.
My mom is an Ob/Gyn and my favorite thing is listening to her stories about medical school and residency. As someone who wants to be a doctor myself, I love hearing about those stories! Also, having a Ob/Gyn mom ment I learned about stuff WAY earlier that my friends and I aways thought it was funny when people were grossed out or uncomfortable talking about periods and all of that, because I was so used to talking about it!
The OB that delivered me got annoyed that my mom was taking so long to deliver me while the football game he wanted to watch was on tv that he used forceps and I have pictures from the first bit with bruises all over my face from it.
I don't know why I didn't think of a collab between the two of you, but I am SO SO SO HAPPY it has happened! Again, fun content and so interesting to hear about the personal influences that help shape individual doctors' choices regarding their fields of choice.
Can you please talk about GI problems brought on by Endometriosis. Or explain why my period pain (throwing up, passing out, un able to stand straight) didn't improve after my laparoscopy for endometriosis 1.5 years ago, could this be because i have Fibromyalgia? Also what is the likely hood of conceiving for someone who finds out their left tube is blocked due to Endometriosis? Love your channel!
I’m so glad you guys got to collab! People have been asking for this under like every video lol. This made me cheer up after receiving bad news, so thank you :)
I know it's been almost a year but I just wanted to say Congrats and paying your school loan off!! That is an amazing accomplishment! Also, awesome collab!
Am I the only one who realised she said "80 % of current OB/GYN residents indentify as female"?? That's probably the most thoughtful, respectful and inclusive statement I've ever heard in youtube... She doesn't only sound as a great doctor, she's a great communicator too, I wish there were such amazing Ob/Gyn doctors where I live
Dr. Mike has been blessed with a comparatively better life than other doctors. It really helps focus. I wish the others could also have same privileges.
Ok y’all, Abby has the right to her feelings, especially when it comes to something as personal as who’s going to be poking around in her vagina, no need to curse her out.
Well I'm enjoying both the channels now ! Thankyou so much Mama Doctor Jones and Dr. Mike for entertaining us and giving us such good stuff to watch !!
HEY MDJ! You should collab with another great Dr. Mike and do a reaction to Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman! There are quite a few episodes in which she delivers babies, including the very first one. Also some episodes where she deals with problems in her own pregnancy and a miscarriage. It would be so great to see your perspective on a period show dealing with a woman practicing medicine at a time when it was unheard of, when now you're a badass lady doctor and it's not unusual at all! Pretty pretty please?? 🙂
Haha I found it funny when you said "If you're just here for Dr. Mike" because I actually found Dr. Mike through your channel. (The never have I ever Collab you linked) Didn't know who he was until I had been watching you for months. Now I can't stop watching either of you. Hoping for more future collabs.
As a software engineer I've always been fascinated by how wild west my career is compared to others, especially medicine. Literally there's no requirements of any kind to work as a software engineer. I happen to have a BS in computer science and that usually is enough. No licences, no red tape, no certifications, nothing.
I had a telehealth appt with my gastroenterologist the other day and it got around to me talking about you and Dr Mike reviewing Scrubs. He says, "Scrubs is a great show. I have several friends in gynecology and they say right now is an interesting time. Lots of pictures from patients!" He added that of his ob/gyn friends, 1 friend is male and the others are all female. The phenomenon is real!
They do that to cover themselves, so if someone claims sexual assault, there was someone else there to confirm if it did or didn't happen. Either way I would feel uncomfortable with a man down there, but really it all depends on you and what you want in a doctor
Happy Monday!! 🥕 What Ob/Gyn reaction videos should we do next? Thanks so much to Dr. Mike for joining me for today’s video! Hope y’all enjoy. :)

@@tinkeramma Most people involve things that interest them, and often affect their lives. Im happy you are so curious but cut some slack to us single men who have little need to know gynecological stuff, please!
"childfree" sounds a lot like motivated naming in "the patriot act" lmao
@@inconnu4961eh, but if you plan on ever getting not single, you better educate yourself a bit...
Thank you for being a bright light during this time! You keep it light hearted while also giving the facts in a way that is considerate but firm. It's very refreshing
So, now that we've crossed Dr. Mike off the bucket list, now on to Phillip Defranco.
Yes!!!!!!!
Omg this is the video we have all been waiting for!!!!
That story about the pager is so funny.
My dad is also an MD and he gave me a pager as a kid too! I thought I was the only one haha
EPIC! LOL!
"If you're just here for Dr. Mike that's cool"
Me: *sobbing* MDJ, you know I could never play you that dirty
Due to the timezones, I can't believe I am this early (I live in Australia). Because there is a higher chance of you seeing this comment I am just wondering if you could do a video about vaginismus. Thanks for your consistently great videos.
Gaby G. Yessss this
Yes! That would actually be a really cool video I could send my sister. She suffers from this and has actually done pelvic floor physical therapy in the past. I would like to see a science-based video on it!
Oh! I did a paper on that as a fluff assignment for school the other day! Lol
OMFG YES! I have this condition and would love more vids on it! I'm also in Australia!
What is this?
What you said about medical training interested me. My Dad was a medical student in the UK in the 1950s. He failed his exams the first time then went and sat the RCS and RCP exams which were an equivalent. He didn't need to do any speciality training, but his first job was a junior house surgeon in obstetrics. Later he became a GP for over 30 years.
Yay finally Dr.Mike and Mama Dr.Jones collaboration!!! Wahoo!!
Bro I can't even describe the joy I felt when you said "Identify as female". I absolutely adore how inclusive you and your channel can be ♡
Same! lmao
We are very lucky in Australia where most fees are about 12k per year and we can pay it back to the government in time
Well, I’m glad those fires are over down there. 🇺🇸❤️🇦🇺
Has she reacted to Seth Meyers story of his baby’s birth in Lobby Baby?? If not she definitely should!
So happy to see you on the trending list! You deserve it!
Always love your use of inclusive wording, thank you MDJ 💗
I just have to say, as a labor nurse, I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!
2:22 but 12o'clock is in front of above you, 6o'clock is behind you.
MDJ AND Dr. Mike AND MY FAVORITE SHOW!? 🌈
My favorite collab ever! I admire these two people SO much, I LOVE seeing them work together!
I had the exact same feeling paying off my student loans. "DEBT FREE MOFOS! I AM A LITERAL GOD! ...Wow, they sent me a two sentence email... That's all I get?"
Yees! The crossover we've all been waiting for. 😂Love both of your contents.
I never clicked so fast...😂😂
Great partnership Doctor Mike and Mama Doctor Jones I love this Collab
There are no words to express how much I love MDJ. I’ve always wanted to be a doctor, now I’m interested in obstetrics because of the exposure I’ve had to what it is.
Scrubs was made almost 20 years ago now, and Elliot's father is portrayed as a doctor from an older era, so it is possible that his point was accurate from the time he was from.
I dunno. Just a thought.
Found you through Dr. Mike. I always chuckle hearing "Doctor Jones". Reminds me of a famous movie series.
All I’ve wanted is reactions to Scrubs, thank you 😂👌
As a father myself of two daughters, I would've told that guy it's not only your responsibility to help your daughter it's your damn job.
I would really like to see a collab with you and Nurse Zabe. You're both incredible and so kind :)
Soo true!
Ditto! That'd be fun.
I’m going to check her out!!!
Nan Branham you are not going to regret it! She is a labor and delivery nurse and talks about many interesting things.
Nurse Zabe would be SUCH a great collab. The topics they could investigate together... omg
I'm super happy that you did this collaboration! Love both of you guys! This is amazing!
The OB that delivered me got annoyed that my mom was taking so long to deliver me while the football game he wanted to watch was on tv that he used forceps and I have pictures from the first bit with bruises all over my face from it.
So glad to see a MDJ and Dr. Mike collab!!! My two fave TH-cam Doctors.
i didn’t even need to watch the video to know i would need to like it, so clicked on the video and the like button within seconds of eachother 🙏🏻
I was weird having him call you "Dr. Jones" . . . I just thought everyone referred to you as "Mama Doctor Jones" LOL!
I'm here for you Mama Doctor Jones, you rock! 🤗❤ I'm so happy you finally collaborated with another one of my favorite doctors on TH-cam.
I love Dr. Mike's hearty laugh 😂
At 8:52 I zoomed in on Dr Mike's watch, and it looks like an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak chronograph. Respect!
Yaaaay! I love Scrubs. Congrats on being Debt freeeeee
Dr. Mike has been blessed with a comparatively better life than other doctors. It really helps focus. I wish the others could also have same privileges.
In one of his videos he says his father paid for medical school. Yowza! I paid for both underrad and (2) grad degrees completely my own.
Please react to the Grey’s Anatomy episodes where they take their board exams! Also Private Practice has a TON of OB/GYN
YAAAAAAS!!! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS COLLAB FOR SO LONG, AND ITS FINALLY HAPPENED!!! Thank you! So much! ❤️
"identify as female" we love a gender spectrum recognizing queen 💖
Sheep for real tho 💖
Abby c. Just rude and unnecessary!
So ridiculous and not science based
@@TBIhope this is just ignorant. You should really learn more about trans people
Ok y’all, Abby has the right to her feelings, especially when it comes to something as personal as who’s going to be poking around in her vagina, no need to curse her out.
2:36 Lets just take sec to appreciate that she said "identify" great on your part Doc!
Should definitely do videos about your infertility journey. Also a video on infertility in general, as well as PCOS.
Well I'm enjoying both the channels now ! Thankyou so much Mama Doctor Jones and Dr. Mike for entertaining us and giving us such good stuff to watch !!
Wow 2 different episodes what a blessing. I love the choice of scrubs something lighthearted for these times.
I'm just so happy to see Dr. Jones finally get to collab with Dr. Mike. Like, I've been rooting for this. Go get 'em, lady! You've done it!! Woooo!!!
omg yes my two favs!!!
Haha I found it funny when you said "If you're just here for Dr. Mike" because I actually found Dr. Mike through your channel. (The never have I ever Collab you linked) Didn't know who he was until I had been watching you for months. Now I can't stop watching either of you. Hoping for more future collabs.
Congratulations! Now you can finally make use of your income instead of paying for loans!! Well done :-)
I was so shocked when I found out how expensive college is in the US.
MDJ's kids: Yeah we can find plenty of ways to spend that income...
As a software engineer I've always been fascinated by how wild west my career is compared to others, especially medicine. Literally there's no requirements of any kind to work as a software engineer. I happen to have a BS in computer science and that usually is enough. No licences, no red tape, no certifications, nothing.
But peoples health is different from coding a bunch of numbers
It’d be great if you could do a video reacting to unorthodox. The main character has a condition called vaginismus.
Great idea! Do you know of an episode where she discusses it specifically?
@@MamaDoctorJones episode 3, around 24:30 mark
Mama Doctor Jones it’s heavily featured in the third episode.
My primary doctor is male and does all my “medical needs” paps and all. The weirdest part is the female nurse that hovers by your head lol
They do that to cover themselves, so if someone claims sexual assault, there was someone else there to confirm if it did or didn't happen. Either way I would feel uncomfortable with a man down there, but really it all depends on you and what you want in a doctor
I had a male doctor and a female nurse at my head but the male doctor also had a student shadowing him so like 3 people saw my vagina. Awkward lol.
Yay!!! So happy for MAMA DR JONES!!! This is an epic collab!!!
