I saw another TH-camr in Canada spread the shavings from his sawmill in the muddy driveway. It did seem to help with the mud eventually. Can’t believe someone shot out the windows of your truck! So sorry they did that. Hopefully your insurance will pay for replacement.

I forgot about that trick with the sawdust! I think that was Sawmilling with Sandy that did that. It really seemed to help.

@colin8532 He uses chips from his woodchipper and sometimes the slabs with all the bark to improve his tracks.

You can set up rainwater catchment off of the greenhouse. All that water running off the plastic can be channeled and put into IBC totes. You can also use tarps to catch water.

I just watched a short video called “saving rainwater from high tunnel green house”. It’s on the Sow the Land page. Basically they just attached a rain gutter to the side of the green house and drained it into a food grade barrel. Then attach a spigot near the bottom of the barrel. They sealed the gap between the rain gutter and green house wall with some sort of water proof tape. Might be a way to help you short term with your water problems.

First, I’m so sorry to see the vandalism that was done to your truck. That was totally cruel, whoever shot your windows.
I will say a little prayer for your water situation to become successful.
Meanwhile, your sawmill looks awesome. Your teamwork to build the platform and transporting that heavy equipment was quit a challenge that y’all tackled very well together.
I’m glad to see that your dog is able to roam free. She’s a good dog.😊

Sorry, have another comment. The root systems your pulling out have a use. I noticed the one had long legs on it. Remember, butt cut has more BTU's in it for fire wood. You need to use everything available to you out there. For larger trees , cut as much as you can for firewood. Don't just burn it to get rid of it. My background, 15 years in North Idaho. I cut 9 to 11 cords of wood every year.

That's absolutely insane about your truck windows!!! I'm glad some of your neighbors are kind and friendly. God's blessings to you. Stay positive. I'm sure there are a lot of us cheering for you. It will all work out. Hugs from a grandma that appreciates all you're going through. Keep your dream focused. ❤

That platform looks great! Must be super rewarding to see something come together like that made from trees you cut, hauled, and milled yourself! Really entertaining to watch it all come together. Shame about your truck, but you seem to have some nice helpful neighbors so the community up there seems friendly enough overall.

So sorry about the truck windows - I'm sure is shatters you're sense of safety among other things. Great progress. AGH on the well attempt - good for you for hanging in there. If I may comment on the 'greenhouse'... I've seen a few Alaskan offgrid starts where the 1st winter of snow will collapse a structure like that. Maybe you can remove the plastic covering / make plans before snow?

Youz are doing good work💪 I found out while camping a good way of keeping rain off stuff was by stringing up a tarp from the trees nice n loose so the wind doesn’t trear it away. With an obvious spot for the water to run off of. You’ve got a huge tarp there and in my opinion it would be very worth it. It takes a quite a bit of adjustment but is very beneficial for temp shelter. Sounds silly I know but loose and sloped enough for drainage it is effective. Just don’t bring it to the ground. The trick is to let the wind pass through. I hope that helps. Your tarp is big enough to cover your whole camp! Will bring shade in the hot summer months too. In regards to the shooting… don’t take it personally, the locals are misguided and probably jumping to conclusions. Stay strong and continue on💪

So awesome the pup can go off leash! Our pit as finally graduated to 'supervised off leash w/ a training collar' after 2 years up here in AK. I think we're about 20 miles from you, off the Spur Road.
Sucks about your truck ...think someone felt you parked in "their spot" or just some donkeys?
Good luck on the water well, maybe they can come out again sooner if they get a cancelation. We have 2 cisterns in our house for water because our well is in like a "pool" that only holds a couple hundred gallons. Bought the place like this. We can pump water for about 15 minutes then the "pool" needs a few hours to refill. I keep the top half of the cisterns full😂.
Stay positive and hopefully the rain will let up for a bit soon and the skeeters will back off🤞

yes, you are in rain forest if you don't know that it is not like a jungle rainforest so here is a fact for ya There are two types of rainforests, tropical and temperate. Tropical rainforests are found closer to the equator where it is warm. Temperate rainforests are found near the cooler coastal areas further north or south of the equator. The tropical rainforest is a hot, moist biome where it rains all year long.
