    Often I get the impression that scrap wood projects are the best, not just my own but others, like this one, also.
    Thnx for sharing Tim!

      Nice one Ian, I always have mixed feelings when uploading a video that isn't a giant gnarly piece of wood with an interesting thumbnail 😂 Thanks for watching pal!

    We really really want to try our hands at turning because of all the wonderful things you make. This video would be the perfect starting place but we have no space to do this so we will have to live vicariously through you!. :-)

    Nice beginner bowl. Now use a similar scrap and make the square version. I would be interested in seeing what you do with the corners.

      Thanks for watching! I haven't actually made a square curve bowl for a little while so yeah, I think it's about time I did! Cheers.

    Great that you share some beginner projects. Be careful with some of your techniques though. Cutting against the grain and sanding too fast were 2 issues I saw that are easy to fix. The project came out quite nice though.

    • @tfturning
      @tfturning  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Doug and thanks for the pointers too. Cutting against the grain is most likely due to the push cut being my go-to, I will try to be more conscious of grain direction in the future. Cheers buddy 😀

    Great Video, My Bowl Gouges don't look like yours ? I am new to wood Turning & Loving it!

    • @tfturning
      @tfturning  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks pal! The grind I use on my bowl gouge is similar to an Irish grind so the wings of the gouge are swept back. Generally if you pick one up from a shop it will have a traditional grind. I sharpen at the start of my recent olive square plate video, take a look if you are interested in seeing the jig I use to get this bevel shape, it's a Robert Sorby 447 jig.
      I've been doing it since January 2018 and still loving it! Thanks for watching!
