I most loved the tips #6 because I usually tend to walk aimlessly when presently, and this is a distraction itself. I feel like I am lost sometimes, especially when I am not inspired. lol.
You have never failed me Alex. I have been listening to your videos for about two years now. Every year I compete in a speech competition for middle schoolers and listening to your videos got to me to state level. I especially like your don’t ramble tip. Thank you so much!!!
Just found you today, and I am extremely grateful for your service. I have to campaign for student body president at my nursing school and I am freaking out because I have stage fright when I know people have their attention pointed at me. Going to practice as much as I can
I just found you Alexander and most grateful. I am Communications professional in Ghana 🇬🇭 and I have a mentoring group. I just recommended your site to my mentees. Great stuff. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for another great video! I incorporate your videos into a weekly training session at work that focuses on helping our employees be well rounded in technology, communication skills and regulatory compliance. Yours are always the favorite and it's helped our team grow tremendously. Thanks again and shout out from Boulder!
Hello, Alexander. This video is amazing!Learning how to speak in public has boosted my confidence. Being able to communicate confidently and fluently with the public is essential for making your point clear to the audience.I'm very excited to keep watching your videos and look forward to the next ones!
I just can't seem to keep my feet planted. I pace around anxiously and I wish I didn't. Even when I rehearse on my own, I have too much nervous energy to stand still.
@@alexanderlyon Good tip! I noticed that increasing my volume makes me feel more settled (which I thought was counterintuitive, but now makes perfect sense). I'll try out the hand gestures too. Thanks!
Hey, there. We do appreciate your perfect performance. And what I want to say is that are there any books that you recommend in order to master communication skills? And I will be grateful if you have some advice to share with. Thanks a lot.
I could do that but I don't. My approach is usually to show positive examples of good speakers. We need role models and concrete examples to inspire us.
Alexander! This is an awesome video man - been eagerly awaiting your uploads for a while. I’m a storytelling coach (far less experienced than you but still super passionate about spoken communication). I’d love to host you on my podcast if you’re interested? I think it would provide both our audience some great value!
I'm honored. Thank you. It may not look like I'm working hard (on camera) but I do put a lot of thought and care into these videos. I'm glad you find them helpful.
Part of my responsibility is teaching Gen Ed classes, so a lot of my students have no experience at all with public speaking. I also use your video on how to disagree respectfully. My students like that one a lot.@@alexanderlyon
Alex, first of all I wish this video gets you 2M views 😊 I would add another tip that I had to learn and I catch them with everyone I work with….. avoid filler words, the ums and ahhhhs 😂 SILENCE IS POWER, so pauses are great. I made a video about it and also on eye contact, yesssss, you’re right it’s awkward first, but it helps connect with the audience!

Tell the team I said hello. I earned my Ph.D. at CU, Boulder! I lived there for four years and graduated in 2002. I hiked up Sanitas Trail more times than I can count.

Am grateful u made this video.I got it on time
I love that you say God bless! God bless you too Sir!
I am a thriving trainer and I found the condensing the speaker notes the most informative. Although all the tips are great and much appreciated.
Glad it was helpful!
I just can't seem to keep my feet planted. I pace around anxiously and I wish I didn't. Even when I rehearse on my own, I have too much nervous energy to stand still.
My advice would be to redirect your nervous energy into using more hand gestures and into more volume in your voice.
@@alexanderlyon Good tip! I noticed that increasing my volume makes me feel more settled (which I thought was counterintuitive, but now makes perfect sense). I'll try out the hand gestures too. Thanks!
Yes, from the waist down, keep yourself planted. From the waist up, you can be animated.
I enjoy when the speaker walks around and does not just stand still.
It helps me stay engage to speaker, it keeps my attention when they move around.
@@phillipsfamilly5 It may depend on the speaker. In my case, it looks jittery and distracting.
Thank you so much Alex, you really helped me improve my presentation speaking skills. I appreciate the support and insight!
Love from 🇮🇳 India
I will be one of the best public speakers i didn't do most of the mistakes here I believe for better results been so blessed to here these.
I learned so much from Alex. Thank you!

Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you.
My public speaking competition is today so thanks Alex
Thank you ❤
Could you analyze some of the worst speakers who do everything wrong and point them out?
I could do that but I don't. My approach is usually to show positive examples of good speakers. We need role models and concrete examples to inspire us.
it’s not likely that you can be 100% perfect. especially if it’s your first time, there will always be things you could improve on
@@alexanderlyon Alex, I greatly appreciate your morals and ethics. The integrity you display is a beacon in today's dark world. Thank you!

The PDF isn'r downloadble.
Is there even a pdf or just another way to get newsletter subscription?
You can get the PDF and instantly unsubscribe. It works the same way most newsletters work.
Which way would you be looking when using the 1 thought method. (1person,1 thought) Presume you would be looking in a random order?
Yes, random order. Make eye contact with people in different parts of the room.
