    These videos are exceptionally great if one has their engine out of the vehicle and on an engine stand. where they have instant access to everything. Showing how to do these things while the engine is mounted in a vehicle would be much more helpful.

      It’s no different in the vehicle. I wanted you to have the best view of everything so it was shown on the stand but I do them all the time in the vehicle and other then being over head…. No difference.

    Looks like quite a job to remove an oil pump. On my 1971Newport 383, you only had to remove the oil filter and remove a few bolts and the oil pump slid right out.

      It does take a bit of time but its not too bad when using the shortcut method.

    CanI get away with cleaning the oil pick-up tube and replacing the o-ring? The new part is on galactic back order. Thanks you’ve been a life-saver.

    The hardest part of the engine swap on the Promaster was that damn sensor connector. Losening the carrier bearing helped, but I fought with that damn thing for an hour, and ended up breaking it and RTVing it back on. Sucks.

      Yeah getting to that connector can be a pain. The book recommends removing the outer portion of that right side cv axle but most times I cant get it seperated without possibly damaging it so I just remove the entire axle shaft of I am having issues getting to it.     My 3.6 is making a rod knock on start up. Is this a sign of a oil pump going? It like makes a really bad knock on start up and sometimes won't start makes thst like clanking noise but if it starts it goes away.

      Love to....just have to have a vehicle to film. Thats the main issue....having one that I can spend the needed time to film different repairs. I will certainly keep it in mind.

    So far i love your video's. The way you talk is very easily understood. I would like your help in possibly fixing my 03 dodge ram 1500 van. Has a 3.9
    6 cyl in it. Symptoms were, Bucking, missing, chugging, running like garbage. Only went if you floored it. Now not even that. It will start, but chugs and bucks then dies. I don't have the required scanner to fix it. Only a code reader. Thought i had it fixed once and erased the codes. So it's just sitting here. Only has 105,000 miles on it. I replaced everything i could think of replacing. Threw many parts at it. Nothing....Any help is greatly appreciated... Jack

    Napa has the replacement solenoid for 50 bucks... and from what I can see it’s only held on by a pull clip. Has anybody replaced it yet?

      I have heard of it. Havent tried to see if its easy enough to replace without pulling the oil pump. What worries me is who makes it.....might say Napa but a good chance it might be a re-packaged Dorman part and I wouldnt use it if thats the case.

    @MotorCity Mechanic - you mentioned P06DD error during this and previous part but what if there's a P06DE error and readings of pressure via ODB are correct (20-30 on idle, 70-80 cold or on high rpm)? It seems dual stage pump works fine and pressure sensor was replaced so it must give good readings. Any idea why this error occurs? Thanks in advance!

    I just bought a 2012 wrangler, besides the cylinder heads going to shit on these is there also a problem with the oil pumps too? Mine has 70k miles is this an issue? And of course there isnt a guage its just an idiot light.. i swear, no more CHRYSLER products for me! I wonder if i should just get rid of the problematic pos. BTW, I really like these videos.

      Its not a common issue. From time to time I do have to replace one but thats more like one every 3-4 months. If you havent had any issues that I feel you will be okay.....no reason to get rid of it because you hear of issues......just imagine how many are on the road....of the JK....most likely millions so of course your going to only hear about the issues people have but thats a small amount when you look at the bigger picture.     Hey iv been meaning to ask you a question Boss I have a 2013 Chrysler 300 3.6L on my gear shifter has P.N.R.D/L i want to know if I can switch it to the shifter with D/S or do I just have to unlock the sport feature to use it..

    do those solenoids go bad often?

      Its not the most common failed item but from time to time I do see them.

    106 inch pounds is not much. Would blue locktite be a good idea?

      Arthur Rodesiler I did the pickup tube on the 3.6 once. Didnt know the torque spec, didnt use locktite. 140k later no problem. But I cant see it hurting anything if you do.

      Never had any issues after torquing it to specs....dont see a need for locktite but in the end its up to you. Thanks for watching Arthur.

    What could a po740 be? Would it cause bad gas mileage?

      Thats a torque converter code. It can affect gas mileage, set the check engine light, cause trans temps to get high and also cause the trans to go into limp in mode.

      My gas mileage reader is at 14.7, it has the torque converter circuit code in it. I figure just wait til it fails, then replace the solenoid while its getting rebuilt?

      Typically its the torque converter and on some transmissions (nag) the input shaft assembly as well.
