If you live near southern California, be aware that Canyon has a beautiful showroom in Carlesbad, CA which is located north of San Diego. They will size you and have some bikes available to test ride. You cannot buy a bike there, but you can buy accessories.
I took delivery of a brand new Aeroad CFR. TO emphasize, it it the top end road bike for Canyon. I received one DT Swiss ARC1100 50mm and a 62mm wheel. I was told by Canyon that it would not affect aerodynamics; this is BS... I'd like @DT Swiss to publically agree to that statement and thereby call BS on their own claims and rationale for have difference width rims. Canyon person further threw "our terms and conditions" BS at me, say they allow Canyon to switch parts due to shortages. They have done this simply because they know that as a foreigner, I am unlikely to take action against them. I conclude therefore that this is Canyon modus operandi, that is to switch to lower price options that suit them. At no point was I consulted if I would agree to a swap to a cheaper 50mm wheel. This is my last Canyon. i'd rather pay double for a Dogma, even if I cant afford it.
Super helpful perspective, thank you. I'm just getting back into cycling and just came across Canyon.. will definitely be considering one when I comes time to upgrade.
Canyon should pay you. Because of your review I am buying a Canyon. Thank you for being thorough. Wow. I liked your final points greatly because I use bike repair shops for most of my maintenance.

Hi there, started looking into Canyon bikes recently and came across you video. Great info; and great, honest presentation. Thank you. Appreciated your video. New sub.
Thank you for the video. I am from Malaysia and am considering to buy an e-bike maybe one of the ON series from Canyon. Looking forward to your review video.
I ordered a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Di2. I ordered it from their US store. I'm using a shipping forwarder (sea cargo) since I live here in the Philippines (shipped to the overseas USA warehouse), so I'll have to wait another 1-2 months before it arrives. This helps me save on shipping fees and customs duties and taxes. I'm really hoping there are no issues when I get the bike in hand, as it's going to be really hard to return or refund anything. Thanks for this video!
I'm living in Indonesia and I find that your situation is pretty similar to what I have in mind. Any updates on your bike? I'm kinda scared shipping the bike via forwarder lol
So far the updates and communication has been good with the shipping forwarder I used. But I used sea cargo (300+ USD) that would take around 2 months to get here, as opposed to air cargo (1000+ USD) which would take 1 week. Haha. I went with sea cargo. The bike should arrive next week. So the waiting time has been around 2 months or so.@@TheBTada
Hi Heng Choo, appreciate your video I was about to buy my first Endurance bike and Canyon was on my top list your information was very helpful specially I haven’t give a good thought about the shipping cost and warranty issue, cheers keep up the good work
Love & Peace. Nice name, my mantra. The Exceed Is a beautiful machine. I bought mine before the wonderful new design. It hopefully still has the classic geo and XC characteristics.
As a bike shop owner I can tell you we don’t turn down a customer simply because the bicycle was not purchased at our store. Nor do we up charge for repairs or work on bicycles not purchased at our store. We do work on bicycles in the order they arrive but it is not uncommon to push a bicycle ahead of the line if it was purchased at our shop. Working on a Canyon is no different than working on any other bicycle. We did have a customer wait several months for a set of unique bearings to the upper linkage on an aluminum dual suspension canyon that made a symphony while under pedal load from day one. We’ve also work on canyon road bikes that suffer from the headsets constantly loosening. And one canyon road bike that the bottom bracket shell was out of spec on one side. The bike creaked under pedal load. Every time the bicycle owners were overwhelmed because they had to deal with the issue themselves directly with canyon. We did our part by documenting the issue in order to help the customers deal with warranty but had they purchased a bicycle from an independent bicycle retailer they wouldn’t have had to deal with any of the stress. It would be out of their hands and handled by the dealer. We all make decisions for what we believe to be best.
Heng: I may have missed it, but did you consider Giant (like the Defy)? Have you had any quality control or safety concerns on the Canyon? I'm wondering if I should stick to steel since Ive read about Carbon frames snapping. What's been your experience so far?
I didn’t add Defy in my consideration back then as that’s a endurance bike and I was looking for a gravel bike. With that, Defy are a great bike tho if you are looking for endurance bike. For carbon frame, as long as you go for reputable brand who provide worry free (warranty or certain program) and you should be fine. I haven’t see any carbon frame snap by itself, only seen a few snap carbon frame after crash. I guess even with steel frame going under that crash it will render the steel frame to non rideable too.
I would love it if a Canyon rider that is 5'7" tall with a 29-30 inch inseam could tell me what size they ride. I entered this onto the Canyon website and it told me I need an XS. That makes me nervous because in mountain bikes I an typically a medium, and on a road bike I'm typically a 51-52.
Thank you Heng! Do you mind me asking how tall you are? iam having so much trouble deciding as obviously we can not try it out for hight :( I really want this bike but sizing is hard that im considering other brand
If you can get a bike sizing service locally, where they can use their fitting bike to crank up to grail sizing will be the best. I’m 168cm if that help 😁
This bike was really easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
any competent bike shop can handle canyon. the reason many local bike shop do not want to deal with them is their dtc marketing at least here in stateside.
Yeap, that only applicable to smaller independent bike shop that doesnt expose to newer technology. Some bike shop at here in Malaysia doesnt take in Canyon but not in the case if it's a major city
Informative video, good stuff. I do worry about the maintenance- but if bicycle shops accept Canyon then I'm ok to pay a small premium. With the e-bike offerings, do you know if there is anything I should specifically take note on?
The maintenance part might be a problem if you are at smaller town/city but if you are at urban metropolis, shouldn't be a problem to get any modern bike shop to service a Canyon

I have a 2021 Grail in size XS with the 650b (27.5) wheels. I’m looking into buying a spare road wheel set, which 700c wheels did you fit on your grail?
Hi. Good sharing. When you pay via TT, do you issues like you need to pay extra due to additional charge imposed if the bank uses third party to complete the transaction? (not the service charge though)
Hi, what do you think about the canyon torque Al 5 27.5? I hear that canyon frames break easily and that canyon won’t cover it unless it was from delivery. Is this true?
Thanks for this video! I gave up on the Grail because they kept delaying delivery. I am considering the Pathlite, do you recommend it for commutes and riding around Singapore?
Do you have grizl cf sl 7? Can I put thinner tires on this bike? You said you had that bike for off road and road, right? What is a minumim size for this rims?

Hello, love the vid!! Just curious about the stocks of the bicycles on their website. Did you buy the the gravel bike right after they restocked? Did it quickly went out of stock?
I was lucky as I order before it went out of stock. Even that I have waited 3 months until the bike are shipped. With the current demand yes i will say it's usually quickly went out of stock
@@HengChooChian Thanks for answering!! What’s your rough estimate on how many days/weeks will canyon be out of stock after they restock this coming September.
I don't like bikes from Canyon... I first bought the Neuron, then the Strive a year after, then the Spectral the following year.. now thinking of buying the Torque or Grail.. yeah I don't like them. Lol.😅
One thing that annoys me a bit is the lack of customisation. I want to get a pathlite model but it comes with a bosch purio display (no GPS function), for all models apart from the flagship model which cost EUR5000! It would be better if they didnt include it at all, and left it to the customer to choose for the non-flagship models.
I guess that’s a downside for a complete bike. I’m sure they will have customisation once they figure out as they are really serious about their customer journey experience
I’m considering buying a road lite 7 but I’m not sure about the size, I’m barely 5’ 6” with a 29” inseam and the website puts me at xs but I don’t know if the xs comes with the 650 wheels. I ride small on specialized and small/medium on trek.
So my Canyon experience. I went to the website, the bike I wanted for my wife was out of stock. So I contacted their office in CA and spoke with a rep! She told me to enter my name and email address and Canyon would contact me when the bike was available. Great, I thought! I keep checking the website anyway, no bikes. I checked my email, no mail. Then one week the bike I wanted was available!! No email from Canyon though. So, I go back to website to order the bike. Guess what, sold out already. No email from Canyon, just a reorder date from Canyon. This happened twice! The bike would come in on the website, then sell out. Me receiving emails from Canyon, but nothing about the bike I wanted for my wife. Forget you Canyon!
May I ask do you know what is the season period for Canyon? Because the model Im looking for is currently out of stock, they replied me that stock for current season is out of stock, will have to wait for the next season. Do you have any idea when is the next season? Thank you.
I wanted one and I talked to them about it, the cost of getting the bike to me was going to be 2.5 times the cost of the bike itself so I never replied back.
like all the canyon bikes except the wheel size for 2XS and XS. they always put smaller wheel for shorter rider. Many other brands can accommodate 700c wheel for the shorter rider, there is really no valid reason why Canyon has to size down the wheels. They can ship the bike with 650b but design the bike to officially accept 700c wheels, but Canyon official reply is 2XS and XS can't accept 700c which can void warranty. Hopefully Canyon can rethink their product strategy. It is far easier for 700c rider to seek help from others than 650b.
Personally I think that 650b does provide a better geometry for smaller rider but u fortunately the market doesn’t really serve us as main market. Good thing is I can still slap on 700c. Currently do 700c for road and 650b for gravel
@@scoutfai I’m using 28c but measure at 30mm on my rim. Judging from the clearance 32-34mm shouldn’t be a problem. But there’s a slight toe overlap with 700c wheel
Hi, good video. Very informative. Question for you: did they include padals. If no, did you buy b4 your bicycle came or did you wait after you got your bicycle.
Hi, thanks! They don’t include pedal. Most performance bike come without pedal as pedal system are quite personal. I have my pedal before I order as this is not my first bike. If this is your first bike you can add pedal when you are buying from them
Hi .I also just got my Canyon MTB last week. I heard you mentioned that dropbar is tax exempted. I glad to hear that because I planning buying road bike one. Tq Canyon Malaysia Fan
Hello bro. Very informative video thank you so much. You did mention a 5% tax on accessories from UPS. May i know 5% from total bike price or 5% off accessories price? My bike's on the way, I also purchased RD hanger & Garmin mount. Wonder if they will charge extra for the hanger & mount.
I just bought Grail CF 8 Size XS and been thinking to upgrade the wheelset to 700C. How is your experience with the wheel size? Any toe overlap? My bike will arrive next week. huhuhu..
Just bought a specialized but wanted canyon and now I’m certain next time I’ll be getting a canyon But I do find it strange regarding parts and the way they may make money out of you if something does go wrong in the future plus I’ll also be worrried about workshops and to whether they will beable to fix anything on a canyon. Plus when I looked on the website they seem to do a wide range of drop bar bikes but only a few flat bar hybrids

Do you have grizl cf sl 7? Can I put thinner tires on this bike? You said you had that bike for off road and road, right? What is a minumim size for this rims?
Im using grail and i guess grizl can fit a road wheelset as well. Im using 650B for my gravel wheelset and 700c for my road wheelset
Sorry for your experience 😢. Quite a few cases like this which I guess related to the worldwide shortage of bike parts.
Different depth is for more aero
Heyyy yes the XS come with 650b wheel. If you are talking about grail then it actually can fit 700c wheel without any problem.
Hello, Can you tell me why you cant change gallows and handlebar ? I buy one and I trully want to put a longer one on it.
You can change to a conventional design as long as the clamp at 1 1/4 but that will make the bike geometry very aggressive.
Thank you.
Hi, unfortunately I don have visibility to Canyon stock and you probably need to wait until they restock and update in website
@Ya Dad's Precum thank you for your advise! I couldn’t wait so I bought another model! But the order delayed.. can’t wait for my new bike!!
I wanted one and I talked to them about it, the cost of getting the bike to me was going to be 2.5 times the cost of the bike itself so I never replied back.
Really helped… was searching around for customs import duty for rb… so you really didnt get charged for any taxes for the bike?
Yeap, tax free for bike. I did paid a small amount for accessories, seatpost and mudguard
Has anyone from LATAM purchased a Canyon bike? If so, how long did shipping took?
like all the canyon bikes except the wheel size for 2XS and XS. they always put smaller wheel for shorter rider.
@@HengChooChian what is the widest 700C you can put on your Grail?
Tq
Canyon Malaysia Fan
Yes, correct
Hello bro. Very informative video thank you so much. You did mention a 5% tax on accessories from UPS. May i know 5% from total bike price or 5% off accessories price? My bike's on the way, I also purchased RD hanger & Garmin mount. Wonder if they will charge extra for the hanger & mount.
Heyyy congratulate for your new bike! The 5% is on accessories price only so it’s pretty minimal
@@HengChooChian hey thanks bro. Keep the good contents coming.
Thanks for watching!
What is reach " +W" mean on their geometry chart ?
I just bought Grail CF 8 Size XS and been thinking to upgrade the wheelset to 700C. How is your experience with the wheel size? Any toe overlap? My bike will arrive next week. huhuhu..
I love the 700c. It convert my bike to a road setup that allow me to not give up the road cycling part. There's slight toe overlap but nothing serious
what are your height guys?I am comfortable in Small frame (15) in other bikes but Canyon recommended to me the XS.What is your thought?
Just bought a specialized but wanted canyon and now I’m certain next time I’ll be getting a canyon
But I do find it strange regarding parts and the way they may make money out of you if something does go wrong in the future plus I’ll also be worrried about workshops and to whether they will beable to fix anything on a canyon.
Plus when I looked on the website they seem to do a wide range of drop bar bikes but only a few flat bar hybrids
Most of the workshop are willing to work on canyon, at least at my country. 😉
Oh! “A wire transfer to a Canyon bank account”. At first I thought you said “Kenyan”.
Thanks
Most welcome!
