    Nice.. One thing to push fresh soil around, but how would your tractor handle leveling virgin packed soil? Is that where the skid is needed?

    Personally I all my own equipment repairs including making up hydraulic hoses, have a selection of gland wrenches to disassemble hydraulic cylinders and I keep a selection of seals for every piece of equipment I own. You did fine with the tractor as I have seen many landscapers do over the years. A skid steer would come in handy to manage trash piles though. You could put the grapple on the tractor for sure but it's slower. Hopefully at times you do get help for your projects.

      I do a lot of my own repair, but in some cases, it just makes sense to pay the pros/use my time elsewhere. My buddies do help me out with bigger projects, but there is also a big sense of accomplishment when you do something yourself! I wouldn't turn away a free skid steer ha, but with the other machines I have and not working commerically, I couldn't ever justify the purchase.

      @@IndyFarmLife If you have quality and affordable technicians available it can be a good investment to pay them and get the work done right. In my case I own such old junk it would cost more to fix it that it is worth. You seem to accomplish a lot and I enjoy your videos. I can see why you would have friends who help.

    What width box blade is that? I’m in the process of getting a 4052R with wheel spacers and I’m looking at either a 96” or an 84” box blade. I plan on keeping the box blade on most of the time too. Any advice would be appreciated.

    • @IndyFarmLife
      @IndyFarmLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Aaron, I believe it's an 84" and it stays on my tractor almost all the time. It's a good size for the machine. 96" may "bite" too much (at least on a box with this build quality), but I understand you wanting to get outside of the wheels. What brand of blade are you looking at? The Gannon is one of the heavier ones.

    Will a compact tractor work on bamboo roots?

    • @IndyFarmLife
      @IndyFarmLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As in ripping them out of the ground? I haven't encountered bamboo while on the tractor, but I can't imagine it wouldn't be possible.

      @originalfallinggirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m looking at a used $20k Kubota with a backhoe. It’s a compact. I’m just worried that the backhoe won’t have the downforce to cut through bamboo roots. I should get a mini x but it’s limited in further applications. I love your channel.

      @@originalfallinggirl Thank you! Glad to have you along for the ride. Let me ask you this. Do you need the tractor for the multitude of attachments it can have, or do you really need a machine for digging, loading, and general dirt work? If the latter, I would suggest looking into a full size backhoe. For 20k you can surely find something. Our 580k is so nice to have!

    • @originalfallinggirl
      @originalfallinggirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IndyFarmLife I hope it’s possible because I really like this Kubota. The funny thing is that I don’t need a tractor. I don’t even have a big yard. I live on the beach. But I’ve always wanted a tractor for some odd reason 😂
