Drance goes on Donnie and Rick's show discussing Petey, then Donnie and Rick go on Drance's show to say the same stuff, then when we fans complain about all the excessive Petey talk, all of the media just says "Hey, we have no choice but to discuss it because all the shows are talking about it". Sometimes I wonder if 82 game seasons are too long for the players and their health, but now I'm realizing they're too long for the media and our mental health.
It has been tough watching mikhaev. Its not like he doesnt get his scoring chances either, but its like he is jinxed or something. And every game that goes by, every missed scoring chance makes it tougher and tougher to score. Its almost like every time he gets a scoring chance, we can all feel that pressure and its been too much for him to handle.
The canucks schedule has been brutal since the all star break, early games, back to backs. Soucy injured again, Joshua injured. I think there's a lot of things combining to make the team play worse atm
I give Donnie and the rest of the media a pass on this topic. Of course teams are calling, Petty is not signed yet and has reportedly been offered 12M over 8YRS. I think Petty wants 3 to 5 years and more than 12M per because of it. We have OEL cap hell over the next few years and plenty of other guys that need a raise and signing. If Petty is here for a cup run and not signed by the draft, I see the possibility of him being traded for young top prospects on low contracts and possible picks. Maybe they send Mikheyev in a Petty deal as well. that would allow for possible additions come free agency on July 1st.

Because if Pettersson isn't convinced at this point in the season after being offered $12 million, management needs to do what's best for the franchise now and in the future. It doesn't mean trading him, but if a massive offer presents itself, they have to look at it. Petey has to look after Petey and the Canucks have to look after the Canucks. They may get a lot more for him now than the offseason if he doesn't want to stay. This is management's job. I don't know if you remember the 90s, but we lost a lot of top end talent for nothing because management lowballed them and just let them go. I'm glad they're actually taking initiative now. This is how a management team is supposed to work. Maybe we're just not used to that in Vancouver.
