What is the White to Dark route?
The White to Dark Way is a 27.5 mile hiking trail, covering the very best of The Peak District. Starting in Bakewell and finishing in Hope, the route covers both The White Peak and The Dark Peak. It is an insanely beautiful hike and is best covered over 3 days as it has a fair bit of elevation.
Where is the prettiest place in The Peak District?
This really does depend, as opinions are often divided, but some of the prettiest areas are Monsal Head, Monsal Dale, Eyam Village and Hope Valley. The White to Dark Peak Hike covers all of these places!
I led a group of 10 people from my Officially Smashed It hiking club on this trail over the weekend, for this reason we decided not to do any Peak District wild camping, as our group was so large. We opted instead for two campsites, the first night was at a farm opposite The Yonderman Café and the second was North Lees campsite. I did however, note a number of fantastic potential wild camping spots along the way.

Oh I remember Bakewell and a very good outdoor market when we were there too. Looks a lot of ups and downs and a good crew to keep you going and laughing as well. Losing people on day one lol but nice you had a meet up point for that eventually and loved the Three Stags Heads pub, how very quaint and a perfect place for a birthday. A 12 mile day in muddy conditions was good going and a bet a cider when down well. That cave looked amazing and what a place to explore, with stunning views from the top of the rocks. There were certainly plenty of pubs visited on the way and how you all got up Winn Hill I do not know but (3 mile diversion apart) well done to all and to be greeted with that view - fantastic! Thanks Alan, yes it was such a fun trail 😁 perfect for over a weekend and all the pub stops were a godsend! I’m looking fwd to heading back upto the lakes next month though to tackle the Bob Graham Round! I can start ticking off lots of mountains, wainwrights and fells 😃🙌 hope your both ok and having a lovely spring so far x
Good for you ,getting people out of comfort zones makes em stronger 😊. And thanks for showing other aspiring wild campers new routes too. Its easy to underestimate tips films like yours do boost aspiring bog trotters into actually getting out there😊👍🙏

Ah the Three Stags Heads , makes the pub in An American Werewolf in London seem normal ! I could tell you a story or two but glad to see its still open . Great film really enjoyed it 😍

An absolutely epic hike. Amazing. Trekking poles are a must. Well they are for me. I kept falling over.😂 But being 'of a mature age' they take 30% of the grind off your knees and help with the bingo batwings too, so Brucey Bonus. As for the cows, I don't think you would have liked the field I went through the other day, a field full of Highland Cows. Well bullocks actually. One just stared me out and snorted at me. I left the field pretty fast. 😂 Thanks for sharing, really loved it.
Ahhh yes I think I would have been a bit scared of that one! 🙈🙈 I tend to just take one pole for river crossings and steep descents, I always have my camera in my hand so can’t juggle them normally x thanks so much for watching

Nice area, i did the limestone way about 25 years ago, Castleton to Rochester, the Monsal viaduct tunnel wasn't open then, great walk though, ciders a great thirst quencher 😊 just keep an eye on the map 😂

Definitely getting a real love for the Peak District the more I see and visit it. Much better weather than the Dartmoor trail with the bonus of so many pub stops along the route. Happy birthday Abby! The plague in Eyam was well told by James. Wow those stepping stones looked very sketchy. Energy still very high on the last day. Thats the Peak District and great weather for you. So many great pubs, a winner of a trail. 👍
